"To choose? You would have, you would have let them do that and picked one of them even?" Her jaw fell open a little bit, sure she teased Shehk often, but it never fully crossed her mind to leave Siddie for her, not like this at least. "You didn't think you would love me?" She paused for a moment staring at the smaller ghoul beside her wondering what would come next, instead it was simply silent.
When Sammy finally spoke it was quiet and her eyes were staring down at her hands holding the bag of spookies in them. "So do you?"

"I don't know w-what I would have done," Siddie said in a very small voice. "It - there would've been more time before I had to, to ... " She trailed off. The excuse sounded even weaker when she said it out loud. "I'm sorry," she whispered.
At the question, she lifted her head, a little of the old arrogance in the line of her neck. "I defied my parents for you!" A fresh flood of tears slid down her cheeks, and she sagged again, hearing how utterly stupid that sounded. "I do love you," she said, and half-choked on a sob. Ixxy was placed carefully on the bed again, with a stroke behind the ears, and Siddie slid off the bed, standing up. "If - if you want me to go," she said, and clasped her hands in front of her, bowing her head again.

Sammy squeezed tighter on the bag in her hands, by now only Ixxy remained on the bed, the other scareons lingering around the furniture of the room watching quietly. "You would have waited, had time?!" She shook her head glancing off to the side trying not to look at Siddie now.
"You defied them! You went home with them knowing they would do this while I was gone! You didn't... you didn't make up your mind till the last minute and you might have left! You would have left and told me nothing if you did that!" She squeezed the spookies harder, the sound of the treats cracking beneath her fingers between the sound of voices and tears.
"J-just go... go for now...." she muttered.

"I didn't - I wouldn't - no, it's - " Nothing Siddie could say would make this okay. It was her fault, and if she was hurting now, it was because she deserved it. "I'm sorry," she whispered again, and walked over to the door, picking up speed with every step. By the time she was in the hallway, she was running, crying as silently as she knew how.

She was gone, that was it. The bag fell out of her hand and slowly Sammy slumped sideways onto her bed, the door had hung open for a moment before slowly sliding shut. Behind it came the soft yip of Ixxy as it thumped shut before hopping onto the bed.
Sammy reached out dragging the Scareon in curling up tight trying not to let her own tears get too loud.
