Bentley Marioth | District 11
I've had my eyes on the Capitol for nearly. Sitting on the edge of my bed, looking out the window at the mountains that pass by, but nothing compared to the moment of when I first saw a quick glimpse of the city itself. An emotion that I have never felt before rose up; Excitement, pain, and wonder, all in one.
The feeling didn't last long though as the city started to become bigger and bigger. The train's wheels began to rotate slower and slower as we were finally within city borders. I jumped off the bed and ran to the dinner-room cart where Venus' face was already pressed against the glass window. People took notice of the train, labeled with a big, red "11" on the side. Children waved flags of different district emblems, and adults waved and cheered. Instinct took in, and I began to wave from the window, showing off a big smile. Our mentor walked in, and I took a quick glance, only to direct my attention back to the crowed.
The train stopped at the station, and I hustled to the door where 4 peacekeepers guided us out of the train onto to the train platform. Cameras and microphones rushed Venus and I. Maybe it was my over-excitement, or maybe it was because we were being crammed in, but I threw my arm around Venus and smiled at the cameras. I didn't look at Venus' reaction, but she didn't seem to freak out about my arm, I didn't really see though. Arm still around her, I answered questions about 11, my journey, and what I think about the games. I answered all with emotion and truth. I let down my cocky act a little, and decided to let my real emotion of excitement, mixed with emotion, out. One man with a video camera was accompanied by a young lady holding a microphone with the emblem of Panem on it. She asked me questions about past Games, and my strategy for these games. This must be a reporter from the national Panem news, I thought. So I answered THESE questions boldly. I kept a friendly, likable persona, answering the question about my strategy with no true answer... "My strategy? I am certain that you, and the rest of Panem would love to know. And I'd love to tell you all! But there are 22 other tributes that will want me dead in a matter of days. Plus, I want it to be a surprise. Kind of like a wrapped present!" Venus was off doing her own interviews while I continued to pose for pictures.
"Mr. Marioth, this way. You're off to meet with your stylist," said one of the peacekeepers, grabbing a hold of my shoulder.
While he walked my through the crowed, I couldn't help but continue waving, winking, and smiling to cameras and people alike. My emotions were mixed in a blender at this point. I couldn't tell if I was happy or mad. Sad or excited. All I know is that I'm in the Capitol, my arm was around Venus, and I can't tell if she hates me for it or not.
