"S-so just... talk to her, then? I suppose that sounds... that sounds about right. I'm sorry, I come barging in here all demanding, and you're just a kid yourself-" He shifted, straightening his sweater as he sat up in the chair. He needed to shave, he could feel it itching, but it was tricky with his burns still tender. Just... work around it. "I guess it's just hard to... shake the ah... gasmasks, huh?" He laughed weakly.

Just a kid yourself - that, too, stung. Was that what Jerry thought of him? That hurt in a way he hadn't expected. Jordan managed half a smile. "I appreciate your trust," he said, and then couldn't go on as his throat closed. It took long moments to breathe, recover, make sure of himself.
"I could say something about how we all present masks to the world," he said when he was sure his voice wouldn't betray him. "But that'd be cliched and not particularly helpful." He blinked the sting out of his eyes, looked up again, tried on a serious look. "Talk to her. If you really want to work it out, talk to her."

Jerry laughed at the masks comment, smile returning as he rose to move over to the bed and put a friendly hand on Jordan's shoulder, "Thanks. You are a good friend, Jordy," He crouched, a look of concern spreading on his face, "You look exhausted, though, you should really take care of yourself. I'll... I'll talk to her, I guess. See how it goes. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?"

Jordy -- the same thing Andy had called him, except completely and totally different. Jordan looked up at Jerry. Not okay, never okay, and he hadn't even ever realized - He made himself smile and nod to his friend. Just a friend. "Good luck," he made himself say. "I hope it works out for you." He gripped Jerry's wrist for a moment, then let go. "Go talk to her, man. You can do it."

"Yes, sir!" Jerry beamed as he rocked back to his feet. "When you're feeling better, I'd love to spar sometime. Without... psychotic interludes, ahahaha... Thank you. Again. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!" He drew in a slow breath, "I should get to my duties. But seriously, rest up. Take care of yourself."

"Yeah. Psychotic interludes not included." Jordan ran a hand through his hair and huffed a sigh, half a humorless laugh. "Go on. I'll be fine. You take care of yourself too."
Jordan, Ferros said, his teasing tone entirely gone.
Shut up. Don't - no. Later.

Jerry beamed as he stood again, giving Jordan a smart salute before turning for the door, "I'll talk to you later, sir! Rest up! If you need anything, I'm just down the hall!" That said, he reached to let himself out. His smile faded as he stepped through the doorway, though, his mind racing.
Well... no one ever said Relationships weren't with their ups and downs. There was nothing more to it but to talk to her.
After he tended to his duties.
And some other things.
They had all the time in the world, really.

Jordan stared at the closed door for a long time, wrestling silently with emotions he hadn't expected, hadn't guessed. Why now? Why him? This explained a few things, maybe, but not in a way he'd ever really considered. Figured, he guessed, that he'd understand now, too late, useless.
He stood up, then flopped face-first onto his bed. Great. Something else to deal with, on top of ******** else.
