Classes weren't so terrible. Fortunately, the day had been free of group work- the last thing Elliot wanted at the moment was another partner. After the school day was over, the Ravenclaw reported immediately to detention with the Slytherin Head. He thought about telling her about the events of breakfast that morning, but was too exhausted from thinking about it to actually relay the information. Besides- she probably would not believe him. After all, he was punished!

His detention sentence, of course, had been to clean up the greenhouses. This involved sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and dusting- things Elliot would have never dreamed of doing on a regular basis, especially without the use of magic. He worked for only two hours that night; it was impossible to clean the entire area in that time, but the purpose wasn't to get everything clean- merely to punish him. Still, he did the best that he could under the watchful eye of a member of the cleaning crew (The Slytherin Head couldn't be expected to actually be there!) and by the time he was finished, Elliot was dirty, tired, and sneezing.

Elliot was in no good mood, so he headed straight for the dormitories after detention. He wanted to get the greenhouse dirt off of him and the pollen out of his eyes and nose, then curl up and sleep again. He would just wake up early the next morning to do his homework assignments...

But, unfortunately for Elliot, he was not destined to get that far. On his way back to the Ravenclaw tower, he heard a shout (he could not tell if it was in delight or terror) and a loud crash- and he could tell that someone had taken a tumble on the stairs. He was going to ignore it and go a different direction- he really should have- but what if they were hurt? He would have felt too guilty if he didn't try to help! Sighing, he started up the steps...

Only to find Quillan waiting there for him!

Well, perhaps the other boy wasn't waiting for him... but it sure felt that way! Elliot tried to back away before the boy caught sight of him, but he was sure that it was too late...

"Oh bloody hell!" Quillan exclaimed after he'd floundered to a stop. "Owww...." he mumbled, pulling himself into a sitting position on the floor. Probably... could've thought about that one a wee bit more, he admitted to himself, feeling sore and hurt all over. However, he couldn't say that the brief seconds in the air weren't completely worth it! He felt like a fricken' bird! Well, minus the fact that he just so happened to not have wings or any means of stopping himself from crashing onto the ground... But that seemed to be a minor issue in a few seconds after he could feel something besides pain and the ringing in his ears. "I didn't even get to see stars!" He muttered to himself--never, after falling or hurting himself in any way, has Quillan EVER seen stars. He was beginning to think that those characters on Andrew's TV were filthy liars!

As her rubbed his injured leg, Quillan just so happened to glance up and he found a rather pleasant surprise. "Elliot!" He exclaimed, hopping up from the ground and trotting over to the Ravenclaw with a noticeable limp. "Some coincidence that I just so happen to see you here!" because I was waiting for you for almost an hour... and you show up right when I do something idiotic... Well, he reasoned that just meant he needed to do more dumb things. "You look dirtier than usual," He commented in a chipper voice, raising an eyebrow at the extreme amount of dirt lathered over Elliot's robes.

"Anyway--I suspect you enjoyed my gift this morning?" He inquired, looking down on the Ravenclaw boy. "I heard it looked absolutely insane," He commented, a twinkle in his eye. There were a few rumors going around that Elliot was completely off his rockers--and that like the insane man he was, he chucked one of Ann Beckett's possessions far across the Main Hall. "Didn't think you had much of an arm in you, to be honest."

Elliot groaned when Quillan approached him. He wasn't in the mood to deal with more of the Slytherin's nonsense- but he was also much too tired to flee. He noted the way that Quill hobbled toward him and hoped that he wouldn't feel up to harassing him for very long. Unfortunately, judging by his commentary, Elliot would not be so lucky!

The Ravenclaw just waited for Quillan to be finished. Now that there was no one around, he was less affected by the other boy's insults. He was still embarrassed, of course, and could not bring himself to stare directly at Quill. Elliot was in an odd manner today; normally, he cared little about what people thought of him. That was their own business... But it rubbed him the wrong way to be judged based only on rumor!

"I am not crazy..." he said softly, then looked at Quillan. Then, louder "You are just making me look that way- why are you doing d'at?"

Elliot hid his tears behind the mask of a frown- there was no way he was going to let Quillan see him cry!

Quillan glanced down at Elliot and then frowned. Where was the fiery kid from earlier today? Now, it just looked like Quillan was being a bully (and Merlin forbid if that were the case!) Therefore, in order to avoid the subject, Quillan dug into his pocket and pulled out another black ball. "Ink bomb or marble--what do you suppose it is?" Quillan inquired, holding out the sphere for Elliot to inspect (it was in fact an ink bomb, set to explode in approximately a minute). Even if Elliot didn't take it--Quillan was going to have to force it on him in some way or another otherwise it might actually explode on him! I do hope I did set it for a minute... and not... No. I wouldn't have, Quillan ushered those thoughts from his head. Of course he set the ink bomb correctly! And it wasn't supposed to go off in thirty seconds, but a minute! Well... at least he hoped.

"Come on, take it." Quillan pushed, "I bet you're too scared too--" He began, "You can't imagine why I'd perhaps... give you two fakes in a row, right? So it has to be an ink bomb this time--it's just the logical conclusion." He tried the whole "reverse psychology" thing, hoping it would work--was he even doing it right? But either way--Elliot needed to take this bad boy before it exploded on them both! Huh. Why didn't Quillan just throw it in his hood in the first place? UGH! Maybe another time then... Quillan sighed, upset that he had let his impulsiveness get in the way of a good ink-bomb catastrophe.

"Ann seems to like you a bit more now," Quillan began, his hand still outstretched, offering the ink bomb. "Though, I'm pretty sure she's the one who started the 'crazy' rumor to begin with--I don't think she fancied the color at all!"

Elliot did not care if it was an ink bomb or a marble- he wasn't taking it! What reason had he to take it? If it was merely a marble- as the first must have been, he realized now!- then he had absolutely no use for it. If it was a true ink bomb... well, he certainly wasn't going to take it!

It made Elliot furious that Quillan thought he would fall for another trick like that! Normally, given some time, he might have forgotten about it- but all day, this had been fresh on his mind. All day long, he had taken corners and entered doorways, expecting to find the Slytherin there waiting for him, waiting to get the best of him again. An entire day spent in fear- and he didn't think that it would stop there! The more Elliot thought about it, the more paranoid he became. He convinced himself that Quillan had a personal vendetta against him, for whatever reason, and would never leave him alone!

If Quillan had missed the fight in him, then it was back.

"Hah! I don't take a liar's word!" said Elliot, spitting at Quillan's feet- damn decency! "I don't care if d'at is a' ink bomb or a diamond- I am not taking anything from you!"

"Now, that's just being uncivilized!" Quillan protested, jumping back to avoid the spit splatter that landed near his feet. "You know someone's going to have to clean that up--don't you?" He inquired, thinking of the janitor that was going to have to deal with Elliot's spit. "What did those poor house-elves ever do to you?" Though Quillan knew that the house elves managed the kitchens and cleaned the common rooms, he wasn't quite sure if the hallway was in their jurisdiction--but anything to make Elliot feel like he was a bad person for spitting on the floor--which was quite an unsanitary deed, by the way. Though he wasn't a sympathizer of the House-elf plight, (In fact, he thought that they were rather lucky to be working at Hogwarts instead of some rich, pureblood family) Elliot probably would be at least a tiniest bit sorry for his deed--he seemed like the type to empathize with those creatures... Or perhaps that was just the dirty look he gave off?

Quillan was about to go on when the ink bomb that he held in his hand erupted on them both. "Oops." Quillan blinked, immediately wiping the ink from his hands on his pants. "See--you should've just taken it... Now we're both drenched." He sighed... The ink bomb had made a rather loud "plop" too, Quillan wouldn't be surprised if a teacher came this way right now (since it was close to curfew...)

"WELL! Gotta go! And you really shouldn't spit on the floor!" Quillan spoke quickly, bolting up the stairs just in case someone DID happen to show themselves! He gathered up his shoes from above and rushed his way back to the common room, leaving the Ravenclaw boy standing confused in the hallway.

Elliot was confused. Quillan had tried to pick a "fight" with him, had he not? Elliot had thought so, and had just prepared himself for the worst! So why had Quillan run away? Was he too afraid to fight him? Scrawny little Elliot, all bark and no bite, and Quill wouldn't stick around to at least beat him properly?!

The Ravenclaw nearly chased after him, but an ink bomb to the face sort of kills the spirit a little. Instead, he tossed an arbitrary French curse down the hall at the other boy's back before beating a hasty retreat back to the Ravenclaw tower. Sense was with him today, and he didn't want to be at the scene of the "crime" any more than Quillan did!

Elliot would just have to feel bad for the house-elves later.
