May I answer that with never? She sounded hopeful - for all of a second. Of course not.
Her wings increased in production of Fear, growing brilliant with light. She started to float, tilting immediately forward before attempting to straighten herself out. It took a minute before she was able to float without his arms keeping her steady, but when she'd figured out the right ratio, the rocking stopped, and she lifted several inches.
Now what.

Since last time letting go of her lead to some disastrous results, Jericho decided he'd keep at least one hand onto her. Hopefully this would allow her to get used to moving forward with her wings without zooming off into the nearest hard surface.
"I'm gonna start moving backwards but I won't be pulling you. Control the thrust carefully. Gotta take this slow."

Moving forward seemed like an acceptable next step for Riley. She still didn't see why it was important to do this while flying, or rather hovering in her case, but she was starting to become amused with the project they were undertaking together. If anything, this was a bonding process - as if they needed to be bonded further.
She hovered forward, her arms rising as she began to use them for leverage. It helped. As soon as she locked her knees she felt the world tilt backwards, so she relaxed her legs and forced herself to focus on her upper body strength. It was unnatural for her, and it showed by how unsteady she was, but each minute was a step forward. Both literally and figuratively.

Jericho was being patient, even though they were moving at a pretty slow pace. He continued to move backwards steadily to allow Riley time to push herself forward with her mind. He wore a light grin as he carefully guided her forth.
"Alright, now we're going to turn to the right," he said with a slightly mischievious glint in his eyes. He wanted to see how she was going to handle this. The dragon still moved along with her should she end up spinning out of control.

Turn?
She did not like this idea.
Riley's arm lowered, grabbed onto his shoulder, and used it to propel her to the right. It was a total cheat, and her smug look admitted it outright. She scratched his chin gently with one claw. How was that?

The dragon wasn't too amused with he way she went about this.
"There won't be things you can propel yourself off of in the open skies. You gotta do it with your crystals," he said a little flatly before stepping back, "Go on. Turn."

His sharp annoyance made her feel infinitely amused - but also annoyed simply because she was feeling it from him. That was conflicting. Her face went from happy to sad. Fine, fine. Let us try again. She growled, letting him go and propelling herself.
She turned, and turned, and did not stop. No, Riley just hovered in a circle. In several circles, in fact.
I don't - she stopped as she turned her back to him, and waited until she came around again before finishing - think this is working..

Rubbing his chin, Jericho watched as Riley ended up spinning in place. Well that was not quite what he expected, but he had an idea to help fix that little problem. Reaching out to steady her to make sure she wasn't still drifting, he soon stepped back once more.
"I think... to get that to work better you have to put in a little thrust into one side. Then once you're facing the way you want to, you have to counter it with the other," he tossed out, not sure if that made sense. Hopefully she got what he was trying to say there.
It sounded like it'd take a bit of control to be able to pull that off, however.

Riley leaned forward, and caught herself on his shoulders, resting against him. Is it break time yet?

Jericho's eyes softened as she leaned onto him. Letting out a sigh, he nodded.
"Alright, go ahead and touch down. Once you've rested up a bit, we'll get back to the turning business. How's that sound?" he asked with a light smile. It was hard for him to tell just how strenuous controlling the crystals were so he had a hard time gauging how much work to do at once.

Ha, he'd given in so easily. Poor thing. She didn't touch down, but instead pushed away and started to work on stabilizing her Fear to turn in specific motions without allowing herself to continue turning. It didn't work until she'd done it a few times, though it was still wobbly and unsure.
Honestly, Jericho. As if I was that weak. She chided him for thinking she really did need that rest, even as she wobbled so hard that her entire body turned horizontal.
Oh. She floated horizontally in the air, looking up at him curiously.
I've fallen. She deadpanned. And I can't get up.

Chuckling a little nervously, Jericho shrugged while watching her turn about in the air on her own. Well, it was good to see that she wasn't really all that tired. That and that she was willing to keep going on her own. Though, he couldn't help but stare a she ended up going completely horizontal.
"Well then. Try moving around like that. You'll be flying more at an angle most of the time anyway," he pointed out. If she didn't need the rest, then he wasn't going to help right her.
Not yet.

That was the trickiest of tricks, it seemed. Like this? You want me to try to fly.. like this?
She was hovering perfectly still, horizontally, but there was no movement, no rocking, not even a little shiver. She was stuck in mid-air, entirely still.
No, I think not.

Jericho stared at Riley as she objected. She was being rather still right now too, as if she was just stuck in the air. It was a little strange to see actually.
"I don't see why not. It is more uh... aerodynamic to be like that when flying forward than when perfectly up right. I mean you've seen me fly around. And even then if you ever get knocked off balance in the air, you're going to need to know how to right yourself."

Right myself, perhaps. But I'm pretty confident that right now I cannot do anything but float here in space unmoving. I am trying, dear. She made a face of frustration, her body tensing, and her wings glowing-
Nothing.
