"Mm, still, you were there, thank you." She repeated, offering another small smile. On the topic of her sister, she was more than happy to oblige. "Yes, my twin. We have been nearly inseperable since our first moments from the pumpkin." Her smile remained and her voice grew fond. "She is very different from me, at least back home...but she is more open here at school, so perhaps we are not so different after all." Which...wasn't much of an answer, at all. Er, way to help, Needle. "She is fine and on the mend...she had been caged, and suffered arrow wounds to her shoulder." The fondness in her voice melted to sadness. "I wish I had been there to help." The Engeaver added under her breath, in a slight sigh.
Luckily for her Damien was a lively pup, and his mostly verbal flailing was incredibly amusing. She stayed quiet while he babbled away, and once he hung his head she was back to smiling at him. "I do not know what 'lame' looks like, but I assure you that you look no different to me now than you did when I first met you." Her head didn't move but her eyes shifted to observe the apparently vibrating palm that was offered to her.
"You will not hurt me." She assured him softly, reaching out to brush her fingers against his palm, an awkward move that was really just her trying to sort out the shapes she was seeing. That was when she realized he was shaking, and for a moment a frown fit on her lips. "And I will try to not hurt you." This was probably more important though, considering she was the one with the spikes! How easy it was for her to forget that! Carefully she slid her hand into his, carefully adjusting her arm to not spear his. Both Engravers managed to not actively spear Petro when he offered his arm, and this wasn't entirely different; the spikes still cradled Demi's arm, but at least they (hopefully) wouldn't poke fresh holes on him.
"S-So...Take me to the...'thing'?"

Even if Needle was being kind and telling the silly pup that she was not going to break, it didn't do much to calm him down, the quivering hand shook even more before the simple contact was made. Her hand into his. And she was as smooth a porcelain, as expected. The hounds blush was even more prominent and if she had the ability to see it, he would have been sure her face would have had the only smile on it.
It was nice, she was warm and inviting. He found his own throat dry and stunned by the boldness. But the shock soon turned to a heartwarming feeling as he gave the ghouls hand a soft squeeze in reassurance. "We will both try then, and yes we should go before it gets to late and crowded." he replied back and gently tugged Needle along, their arms swinging the entire way. Yes it did feel quite scarelingish, but it just felt right. Bonding always felt a little funny.
Sister.. no wait.. a sister TWIN. well isn't that interesting. "A twin you say, that must be fun." he said, marveling at the engravers good fortune and flicked his ears in amazement. There was someone who looked similar to you that lived with you. He would have taken full advantage of that and switched live with his brother, instead of dealing with the extra personalities in his head.
HEY. SHUT UP PUP.
"You all must have done something interesting on campus while we were being scarred for our un/lives?" He asked casually, he only hoped it wasn't like say, a picnic. that would suck.

"Are you cold?" His shaking only seemed to get worse; perhaps it wasn't that he was afraid of becoming a pincushion? He didn't feel cold, in fact his hand was very warm though a little rough, but perhaps it was one of those internal things. Either way she was worried about him, and it showed in her voice. The squeeze was reassuring, and she gave a surprised chuckle when he started swinging their hands. "I have not done this since I was a small scareling!" The joy to her voice was as apparent as the smile on her lips, and she only happily helped the swinging to whatever pace he made.
"Mm? Ah...You see, our clan does not believe in fun." The word was said as though it gave her a bad taste, but almost sarcastically so; he couldn't see it, but she was rolling her eyes behind her mask. "I, however, feel they are a bunch of old fools. So to your question yes, it is fun. I would not know what to do without her, nor is it likely I would still have my arms if she did not exist." Despite the grim comment she seemed highly amused...or at least as amused as someone with a baseline tone of flat could be. Oooh yes, if Lattice hadn't been in her life, she would have been disowned years ago. "Do you have siblings?" It was only right to ask about his now...plus, she was admittedly a little curious.
"Unfortunately I can not answer that question. I was summoned home to perform a ritual." Her head dropped to look at her arm, the one she was trying hard to not move too quickly. "My apologies."

"No need to apologize." The ghoul sure did love to say apologies whenever they weren't really needed. "It couldn't be helped and eh." Damien said with an indifferent shrug. "It's no big deal." It already felt natural, just hanging out with the engraver like this, just chatting about anything. He always thought it was going to be tougher than this, being social but here was the ghoul and he wasn't trying to run and hide under an object, Learning more about her was much more interesting.
"Siblings?" The hound asked curiously and tilted his head at the ghoul. "No, I'm an only child, no chance at arguing with someone over who ate the last spookie..... except Levi but again, shes not a sister directly." he began to blabber out like a jack in the box, even wincing at the moment when he had to say the tatzel's name. Just even thinking of her as "Kin"..... ugh "But I can relate to having a clan that does not know fun." he said sympathetically from needle and breaking their handhold momentarily and began a march around the ghoul.
"They're all just sticks in the mud over rules and etiquette without any room for change, all blah blah blah." he grumbled out while stomping at every other syllable, if only he could stop the the elders face like that. "But to have someone around to help make all that better." he said with a perky grin. "I'm jealous, you are so lucky."

"Oh, how unfortunate. There is nothing like a sibling rushing to your rescue after getting stuck on the bell rope." She giggled in amusement, fondly recalling that particular memory. Sure Canvas had been the one to get her down, but it was Lattice who went to Canvas instead of their leader, who would have made their lives a living hell. Her walk slowed to a stop as he let her hand go and she heard his voice around her; it would be a shame if she tripped and made him a pincushion! His march was watched and his words were taken in, and despite the gravity of the situation...Needle started laughing.
"It is good you have not lost that spark!" She giggled out, clapping her hands softly in front of her face. "But that does explain your manners! They are impeccable~" It was an idle comment, and one that was brushed aside as easily as it was said. "But perhaps your clan and mine have more in common than I anticipated! If I may ask, what will you once you graduate? Or worse, if the school closes?" She was staring at his silhouette, her head tilted curiously.
"And...I am not sure how this works, but if you require another sister, I would happily submit myself for consideration." She smiled at him, holding out her injured right hand this time.

"Stuck on a what?" The hellhound asked with no tact as he gaped at the ghoul and her story. "How did you get stu-OH." Hello spikes, the answer to everything that could have went awry with her day to day life. but the idea of Needle getting stuck on a rope was funny, made funnier by the fact that he imagined her in mid air when it happened. He didn't mean to laugh but the giggle bubbled out from his mouth before the pup had a chance to stop it. "I don't mean to laugh but it is a funny idea."
And it was the first time he ever realized someone was appreciating his manners, and found it to be highly embarrassing. "heh, who would have thought all the repetitive lessons would come in handy?" all of a sudden it was fairly warm under the collar for him even if it wasn't much to the ghoul, but the question that followed had much more meaning. "Oh? Well, i don't know especially if my tutelage is unfinished here." it was definitely a loaded topic and he felt it press down on his back, the weight returned as he held up his arms in front of the ghoul.
"I could finish my lessons here and take over the clan or go into boogeymen training, or incomplete my training and be shunned because my extra personalities are unstable." tough choice, either one weighted heavy on him. "how about you, what do you plan to go from here?" but given all that, he didn't know how to respond when Needle held out her arm other than to hold onto it gingerly.
Much like how she showed him to. "Then i would humbly accept, dear sister who has a twin i probably should not call sister too yet." if only she could see the grin he gave her.

"The Bell rope." Needle repeated, lips twitching in amusement. She let him laugh - chuckling a little herself - and then shook her head. "It was before my first spike, but it was then I learned I am somewhat afraid of heights!" It was important to clarify; at least it was in her mind. But! At least she was still chuckling! "Are you afraid of anything?" It was a nice little leeway question, or so she imagined.
"Well, I am glad you retained it." She paused for a moment, considering her words...and then her cheeks darkened, a hand coming up to press her fingertips gently to her mouth. "Of course...that is not to say I would not still enjoy your company if you were not this well mannered!" Her hands had come down, fanning a little to erase her previous words in the air. "I am enjoying this!" The hands lowered slowly. Multiple personalities? Unstable? That...didn't seem right. In fact, he seemed one of the most stable, level-headed boils she had ever met! She wanted to ask, really she did...but when she question was turned back on her, what emotion she had been showing fled, her smile disappearing and her entire body going blank and unreadable.
"Ahh...I so not have one, my plan will be the same as it was when I left to attend school; I will gain more skill, I will give more tattoos and gather more spikes...then, when I am ready, I will lose my eyes." Her attempt at reverting back into the emotionless Engraver failed, as her tone became more sullen. "Or, if I refuse, I will be disowned...and I will lose my arms." She didn't like this plan either. She didn't like any of these plans. They were both terrible plans, but she indulged the information willingly.
All she could do was give his hand a squeeze, and offer a half-hearted smile. "You should meet her soon, she is a very lovely ghoul." She offered hopefully after a moment or two, trying to pull herself up from her looming future.

"Many things really." Damien answered back awkwardly, where to start with the things he felt uncomfortable with. "Heights as well, but I'm trying to get over that, went riding with the lightning dragon student It wasn't nearly as bad at I thought it would be." Sure there was all the screaming for his life to be spared, but she didn't need to know all about that.
The walk over didn't feel as long as it should have, the time passed quickly with the company of his new sister figure, just chatting away. Any thing that Needle said was just so interesting, maybe it was from the way that she saw the world that just made it to appealing to his floppy hound ears. "Oh that sounds wonderf- WAIT WHAT?" he yelped out, stunned by what she said and left him stammering. "You said lose your eyes? and if not you'll lose your arms?" it wasn't as if he was trying to question what other clan's did as a part of their everyday lives. "I couldn't imagine my elders telling me to remove something that was a part of my body, other than my snarky tongue."
The problem with formalities wasn't just the rules and keeping track of various things. For him it was the restraint. to keep things in check, and that included questions. And his face didn't hide the fact that he had some questions on his mind as brows furrowed at the engraver, fighting with himself and biting down on the tongue that wanted to get it out into the open. Instead he just gave the ghoul a tiny smile as she held on a little bit tighter, and he returned it back to her and pushed that aside, for later. "I hope so Needle, now how about we go inside? Its right over there." he mentioned offhand, pointing with his free paw toward the welcoming banner.

"You...are so brave!" She gasped out. Damien was afraid of heights, but he still rode a dragon (student)?! "I would have been screaming the whole time, at least!" Which was almost funny, since...Needle did not scream. She hadn't yet, and she made her living by getting her arms impaled with permanent spikes on occasion.
"Yes." She confirmed sadly. "I would hate for you to use your tongue, you are very good with it." Needle offered innocently, clearly thinking nothing of her choice of words; he was well spoken after all! "I will elaborate if you tell me more about these...extra personalities of yours?" She was curious, so curious! Never before had she met someone with more than one! She wasn't even sure how that would even work!
"Ah, yes, please!" Now that she had better things to focus on, her somber mood improved drastically. Her first time in a restaurant, and her first BunnyWunny steak to follow! All with a new friend! Who WOULDN'T be excited for this?! The banner wasn't in ink, but she did trail after him as he headed towards it as if she could see it on her own. "You've been here before yes? Is it nice inside? Is it dark?" Depending on the lighting, she may just have to break another (less dangerous) taboo!
That was a thrill too, but that one she kept to herself for now.

And then the ghoul hit the nail on the head. "Haha... i might have been too." he answered in shame as the open door of the establishment. If it was one thing that the steakhouse was known for, it was bowling over their patrons with the scent of cooking meats, grilled proteins from all over. Anything including Bunny wunny' steaks down to Follyjox brisket, they did it all and made it smell good.
Damien couldn't resist taking in a deep breath and taking in the scents of the day before letting out a happy exhale and turning back around to Needle. "If I didn't have my tongue, I wouldn't be able to taste today's lunch and that, would be such a shame." Damien joked back to the pleasant ghoul and kept his hand with hers as he went further in. "We can talk a bit more about me, myself and I when we get to our table, I'm kinda embarrassed about my condition., and." after taking a moment to look around and ignore the demon standing at the podium that had the look of mild displeasure on his face.
"Well, we could always take a window seat if you need more light, I don't mind, let the other people walking on the street see us enjoying a fine meal." he replied back cheerily. The steakhouse was normally well lit and the tapestries of rich mocha and coffee colors was seen around the tables in the soft lantern light.
Of course, that was normally during its dinner service when its reservations was booked and the tables were swarmed with hungry demons and monsters, tried from a hard days work and wanting a filling meal. The lunch rush wasn't as big of a big deal and most of the chairs were still packed onto top of their tables save for a small spot when the lunchers occupied which included the windowed seating areas.
"Table for two?" the demon managed to wipe off the bored look from his face and replaced it with a mildly interested smirk, mostly toward the hell hound that walked in with a ghoul for a lunch date. "Just remember, while you can't enjoy our extensive wine collection, we have a equally as luxurious non-alcoholic varieties to chose from."

Luckily for Damien, the ghoul in question was too busy in complete awe over all the noises and smells in the restuarant to take his shame to heart. The smell! She had never had the pleasure of experiencing something that smelled so delicious! The ghoul took in a deep breath right alongside her companion.
"Aahhh Demi, this has to be the most amazing smell I have ever---" She paused with a happy sigh, pressing her free hand against her cheek and tilting her head into it. Bliss, pure bliss, this was. "You would not be able to taste anything without your tongue." She reminded him, still quite innocent in meaning. He did bring up some good points, but she wasn't entirely sure if she wanted strangers to watch her eat. It was something she wasn't too graceful with, eating. Oh dear.
"Mm...If you are embarrassed, perhaps a window is not a best idea. Please, sit where you are comfortable. I will cope." She pat his arm reassuringly, and settled to listen to the Demon as he spoke; she hadn't really seen him there, but she was able to keep her surprise off her body language...thankfully. "I have never had wine before, even non-alcoholic." She mused quietly, intent on letting Demi take over. It was his treat after all, she didn't want to step on toes. Besides, this place? Sensory overload, and she was loving it.

"Oh your so so considerat- wha?" Damien barked out all of a sudden at the ghoul. The smooth talker. He didn't even get the chance to ask her what that was about before the demon decided to make himself known again with a rather throaty cough.
"I'll lead you two to your table." he said in a huff before briskly walking over to a table not far away from the windows.
Well, pushing that aside.
"Come on Ms. Sympathetic to my embarrassment, lets go to our seats." he mumbled out and gently tugged the ghoul along.
The Demon waiter was just as horribly charming as he sauntered up to their table... not so much saunter as he practically Leaped with grace from the kitchen door over to their table in quite a flourish. With enough grace to made the Hell-hound yelp at the sudden demon attack and clutch onto Needles hand more.
And it didn't pass by the waiters hand as he practically swooned at the mere motion. "Good afternoon dear guests, it is a delight to have you here." he said in a sultry tone and picked up the engravers free hand gingerly without concern. "Enchante, would you like to hear about of Meat lovers for lovers special today?" without even batting an eye.
meanwhile the hound had found interest in how clean the plate was, up close and personal with his eyes and a rather nice thud. "Oh sweet Kerberos."

"What?" Needle replied, honestly surprised when he stopped talking. No really, she didn't get it...what was wrongggg?! She pouted when he mumbled, suddenly feeling like she had done something terribly wrong. The Hellhound was tailed regardless, following after him and not letting go of his hand in fear of getting left behind or lost in the (Admittedly very slight) crowd.
The Engraver inhaled sharply in surprise when the pup yelped, tensing further when her hand was taken and leaning a little more against Demi. The poor boil had been labeled as her guide and protector for this trip, there was no chance of escaping it now.
"Lovers...?" She repeated hesitantly, remembering her manners and relaxing under the sudden touch. "Good sir, I do not believe we are intimate enough to be lovers." The ghoul pointed out, sounding troubled. Sure they were probably friends, but...not that close. Of course, her definition of 'intimate' was just that; it's definition. She honestly had no idea that this particular word meant something else outside of her clan. Not a single clue.
...What was that thud?
"However if you would like to hear about it..." She trailed off, looking down at Demi. Why was his voice lower? Her lips twisted to make her look perplexed. "Are you alright?"

This was not happening. no this could not be happening.
Damien groaned audibly as he picked up his face from the gleaming plate and faced Needle and the... instigating waiter and tried to find his peace of mind and not let Melas take over and flip the table. "I'm fine Needle, just a little stunned." he assured her gently, patting the ghouls hand in his palm.
Sebastian on the other hand didn't know what to make of the situation as he pulled on the end of his collared shirt. "But I thought you two were." he almost stammered out until his eyes narrowed and formed a small o with his plump lips. "I see, well, nothing like a wonderful meal to continue the wonderful day." he replied back coolly and placed the menus on the table with the utmost of care to the ghoul first before sliding closer to the boil guest and getting his ear. "Do not worry dear boil, I will take care of everything, the perfect meal, the champagne and the violin performance, leave it to me." he said in a low voiced haste before dashing back into the kitchen with a flurry of petals in his wake.
Any chance at Damien recovering his posture completely was dashed as the cup of water he was sipping on soon went down his windpipe and made him sputter up a storm. "wh-wh-wh-what?!"
....
the panic that flushed his face was rapid and he couldn't help but remember that he was still holding onto her hand. And the mortifying idea that their waiter had for their sudden arrival and posture. It was sure to be a slightly awkward lunch. "I mean, what do you like from the menu, any way you want them to prepare your steak?" he said back to her after the fit was over and the water was correctly being consumed.

"O-oh. Good." Needle said with a sigh of relief, taking her hand back from the waiter to press against her chest as though a weight had been lifted from her.
"No, we are not." She clarified for the waiter, not skipping a beat nor looking entirely perplexed or embarrassed about this. See? She had this. Nothing was getting past her! The waiter moved on to whisper to Demi and Needle was nonethewiser, happily sitting beside him and content with her victory of clarification.
...At least until Demi sputtered his drink everywhere.
"Ah! Are you alright?!" She gasped out, using her free hand to offer the long tail to her obi out; it wasn't like she could see the napkins on the table. "If you are unwell we should return home? Perhaps you are in need of medical assistance?" Needle sounded terribly worried, and she was. "I am inexperienced, but I do have general knowledge of care..." Lunch could wait, her friend seemed unwell!
