"No es uno problemo. It is not a problem." The Chupacabra meant it and she nearly giggled as the giant wrote down every word in his book. She was curious about the trip he might be going on but it honestly wasn't her place to ask.
Dinner would be downright awesome, and the sudden lighting up of Chuppi's face clearly started as much. Any time anyone else was footing the bill for her food, or was catching it for her, that was perfect. Of course thinking that way also made it seem like she was a mooch (and she didn't think she was) so the light that hit her face almost instantly vanished. It would have stayed gone and she would have felt bad again for thinking such thoughts if she hadn't remembered that she needed to reply to what he was saying. "Lunch would be wonderful, muchas gracias. Er, I mean...thank you very much." She smiled, showing off all of her sharp teeth.
The conversation soon took a turn to her and her personal life, and the monster didn't think it too impossible for her to answer. "Well, yo soy una Chupacabra - I am a Chupcabra. That is a type of Monster, so I have a home in the monster dorms. And you? You are not a monster nor as you ghost - you smell different."

Herryk grinned brightly. It was obvious that the sight of Chuppi's excited expression pleased him, and his grin dimmed when hers did. It gave Herryk pause, though he didn't hesitate to answer Chuppi's question about his own race and species. Herryk did not mind talking about himself, and given half an opportunity the draugr would tell his (albeit short) life story.
"Herryk is a draugr. Undead, not a ghost or a monster." He smiled at the small ghoul, broad shoulders lifting in a shrug.
"Herryk is not as ... decomposed as many undead and for this he is thankful -- nor is he all patched like Mort or Christof -- though that does not seem like it would be a bad thing. Trading out bad parts for good ones."

"An undead? A mi me gusta undeads, porque ellos son las mismas." She smiled broadly, then thought to translate herself. "Um...I said...I like undeads, because we're similar or the same. In a manner of speaking." Monsters generally liked undeads because they were looked at in a similar fashion, like a freak or a reject that was barely civilized. Chuppi found herself to be well spoken, in both English and Spanish, so perhaps she was a bit different? Either way she liked undeads and reapers and everyone else, though she'd met very few or anything other than monsters.
Her circle of friends really did need expanded, and it made her feel actually a bit happy....and selfish, to think that she could consider Herryk a friend. So, she asked. "Um...are we...friends?"
It seemingly came out of nowhere, but she had to know. If he was just being nice, then what was she to do?

Herryk listened intently to Chuppi as she spoke, his face twisting in confusion until she explained her foreign words. He grinned and then chuckled.
"Herryk likes most everyone," he said quietly, tilting his head to the side. He was totally and utterly blindsided by her next question, and for a moment he looked seriously offended that she had to even ask if they were friends.
"Herryk and Chuppi may not know each other very well," he said quietly, picking a piece bark from the ghoul's skirt, "nor have they known each other very long. But Herryk and Chuppi are friends, little bug, and Herryk hopes Chuppi knows that she can come to him if she ever needs him for anything. Anything."

Apparently being told that was all Chuppi needed to feel relieved, and the monster hiccuped. Not only did she hiccup, but a few tears started down her cheeks as well before she was slightly wailing. She did her best to keep her cries in check but there was a comfort in knowing that someone said she could depend on them for anything and everything, so the Chupacabra felt like it was a-okay to sob like a banshee.
She rubbed at her face with the back of her hands, trying to speak in between snorting and coughing against her combined tear forces of joy and sorrow plus relief. Chuppi believed that she needed to stop crying or else Herryk might stop liking her, but she just felt too much at ease now. Weird.

Herryk's brows immediately rose and he looked a little horrified when Chuppi started to cry. What had he said to bring on the tears? It took a moment for him to figure out what to do about it. With a helpless expression on his face, he reached forward awkwardly and grasped the chupacabra's shoulder.
"Don't cry, little bug," Herryk mumbled, watching her with concern. "Herryk did not mean to make Chuppi cry." He was so horrible at this kind of thing. All he wanted her to do was to stop crying because it made him sad.

"I...I am happy. I am no...sad, just...happy. Relieved, I guess." It was hard to find the words in English to use but she was certainly doing her best. Chuppi rubbed at her eyes and her hair as she calmed down knowing that eventually the tears would stop. She was pretty thankful that her nose wasn't running everywhere too, and the monster hiccuped again before she commanded her brain to stop crying, everything was okay. "So..sorry, I tend to cry a lot."
Admitting the problem was one of the first steps towards fixing it, right? Though Chuppi wasn't really sure how being a crybaby was much of a problem other than she cried a lot and was never taken seriously. . . . .which may actually have been a problem. Hmm.

"Relieved? How so?" It was obvious that Herryk didn't understand her outburst, nor was he completely aware of her social issues. He was willing to learn, though, and that was made clear by the gentle way he started rubbing Chuppi's back. Big brother mode activate.
"It is okay to cry," Herryk assured the ghoul. "Herryk was just worried that he might have done something to hurt little bug. Herryk was ... well, he was just worried, that's all." He shrugged, "Herryk has even cried before." He didn't want to delve further into the situation that had surrounded that, but he would if she asked.
He hoped she wouldn't.
Perhaps a change of topic was in order.
"Does little bug like foxfires?"

That had to be a trick question, asking her if she liked foxfires. How was she supposed to answer, that she thought they were rather tasty? Their blood did have a certain wild to it unlike some of the other minipets she'd hunted down and feasted upon. Her best answer, she decided, would be a simple one. "Yes."
The topic change had been welcome to she didn't even bother to answer the first two(?) questions, and the monster rubbed away the last of her tears as Herrryk continued to rub her back. It was reassuring and she liked that so there was no need for her to carry on about anything else. "I like most all minipets." For various reasons.

Herryk beamed at Chuppi.
"Herryk wants little bug to know that whenever she is feeling upset, Herryk is always here. Herryk has little poofs that always make Herryk feel better when he is feeling down -- Chuppi is more than welcome to stop by for foxfire petting so that she can feel better if she needs a smile." He nodded his head.
"Herryk has to get back to his dorm. Would Chuppi like to hang out sometime?" He shrugged his broad shoulders. "We can do whatever Chuppi likes. Also there is Movie Club, and that sounds fun too." He shrugged again. "Herryk just does not want little bug to ever feel like she cannot come to him if she needs something, yes?"

"I will do my best to come to the Movie club because films can be as fun as books, right?" The monster had heard about many different movie adaptations of books, not to mentions ones that were actually scary, and so her mouth decided for her that she would be attending. Herryk was going after all and Chuppi wanted to do her utmost to spend time with new friends.
She got to her feet and gavea final rub across her face with the back of her arm, a smile shown spreading over her lips and showing off her full mouth of teeth. Of course she'd have to go and start prepping for exams now, she was going to be ready to move to year two soon, but whenever the time came for the movies she would do her best to be there. "Maybe I will see you before then? Please take care."
The little monster bowed her head and scuttled off, not really waiting for a response. She'd made a new friend, that was enough for her, and today went down in her mind as a very good day.
