"It's your design?" Barth rolled over to it, looking under and over, as aware of the growing from it as he was of the Doom Buggy's growling (which is to say, he assumed it was mostly friendly).
"Looks like it's in good order," Barth said. And not only practical, there was something almost artistic... "It's very handsome."

Christof nodded, still looking nervous as Barth grew closer to the rumbling device who's growling engine turned more into a purr at the compliment.
"Difficult-to-find-right-parts. Had-to-make-do-with-few-things," He signed with trembling hands. "Careful, not-tamed."

"Not every device is out to kill you after first starting up," Barth said, "...I admit I haven't built very many vehicles. The carriages are more magic than device. Well. Keeping each other company won't hurt anything. Have you named it yet?"

He nodded, the corners of his mouth twisting up into a weak smile as he signed out "C-H-O-P-P-E-R". The hunchback hadn't had the nerve to start it up completely without back up... but... if they were lucky maybe it... would be a bit less bloodthirsty than the Doom buggy? His smile remained as he followed up with, "Thought-we-could-race."

"Chopper," Barth repeated, standing between the two vehicles now. "That's a good name. Appropriate. Err, what do you two say? Up for a race? Not today, though," Barth looked apologetic. "I'm still on the mend. ...Taking it easy for now. But soon, yes, I think a race might be in order."
It hurt to lay down.
Getting thrown from a car was not on Barth's agenda. He was just on visitation today. The Doom Buggy looked up from its tire at the word race.
"Yes, splendid. Maneuverable, too. Really good construction."

Christof bubbled up, beaming with each word that left his Master's mouth. He... he liked it? Maneuverable- good construction... aaaaah, his stomach was in a flutter. He knew Good Parts when he saw them, it was just a matter of.... getting them to fit right and somewhat resemble the picture. "Hmmmm..." He replied bashfully, digging a foot into the dust of the tomb floor.

Barth looked back at Christof and smiled, a little, before going back to the wall and sitting down, very carefully.
"Before we start on the piece you got from the generator, I...wanted to ask. You're err, you're good friends with Calder, aren't you?"

The... the generator? OH! YES! He quickly squatted by his satchel to rummage through it, but to the question he glanced up with a nod, "Hmm!"

Christof's movements slowed, eyes intently locked on the clutter inside.
Barth... was interested...
In...
Calder.
Barth. And Calder.
Interested.
The concept bounced around inside his head for far longer than it should have.
Slowly, carefully, with a furrowed look of denial-infused confusion, "Interested.... in-services?" He hedged.

Again Christof took some time to digest this, hands hovering in the air like visual ellipsis. His brows furrowed. His lips pursed. His brows raised. They furrowed again. His hands slowly rose, "But-thought-you..." They stopped again, and he shifted back a few inches, "What-about-Lilith? Or... all-those-other-ghouls?"

"Well it's not like I'm not...not-seeing Lilith any more, it's just that we've been not-dating since I started school here. I know my blackboard's popular, but- I'm not officially dating anyone. Or I wasn't. Nobody asked. And Lilith can be a bit strange about it. Even though she's dating Draven. It's not err- it's not exclusive or anything. I don't think. I mean kelpies have clans, and he's already- err, I mean, you know, they sort of have a herd thing..." Barth found his own love life embarrassingly complicated.
