"You are," Nahm agreed, pleased. "You're doing great. Pretty soon you'll be ready to target igors, even."
He aimed at the same dubbit, counting on its distraction to make it an easy target. Sure enough, it was grumpy enough that it completely missed the grue taking aim at it. Hit with a second rubber band, it waddled off hastily, loudly squawking its protestations but leaving its bit of bread behind.

"WHOAH! Nice Nahm!"
The moment the grumpy dubbit left another took its place. It greedily chomped on the bit of bread. But of course, this little bit of area still had Charlies attention. The demon licked his lips and let his shot fly. He effectively hit the dubbit in the head causing it to cough up the bread.

"Awesome!" Nahm cheered, laughing. "See, I figured you'd be a natural once you got the hang of it. Man, you're doing great." He looked thoughtfully at the stray bit of bread that had already been the downfall of two dubbits. "That's pretty good bait," he said.
Another dubbit began to sidle cautiously up towards the abandoned bread. A perfect target. The rubber band hit it in the wing, and it went squawking off toward the water.

"Bait~" Charlie chirped after Nahm. He watched the boil hit another greedy dubbit. Sure enough a fourth dubbit came for the bread not learning from its peers. It greedily grabbed the bread only to be shot on the foot. The creature squawked and followed after the dubbits before it.
It was almost a game of protect the bread now.

"You know," Nahm thought aloud, "I bet if we glued a pumpkin seed to the sidewalk outside the cafeteria, it'd work just like this. Except with students." His grin was demented and gleeful. "Sounds like fun to me."
Another shot, another dubbit. Unfortunately, the mini bent down to grab the bread just as Nahm released the rubber band, and his shot went sailing over its head.

"Hmmmm that could work." The demon rubbed his chin. "We could snipe from the roof."
Nahm had missed and Charlie was growing cocky. He went for the dubbit Nahm had picked only to miss too. It had decided to sit down right as a rubberband flew past.

"Moving targets," Nahm said solemnly. "They're unpredictable. If you're aiming at something stationary, you can pretty much figure how to hit, but live things, well." He drew back a fresh rubber band at the same dubbit - jackdamned thing had escaped its fate for long enough.
It hit the mini right in the beak, and the creature made an indignant noise and moved hastily out of the way.

Nahm had a good point. These were moving targets, they were alive. Unpredictable.
"Alright." Charlie nodded and pulled back another band. This time he aimed for the water. There was a family of dubbits happily swimming, only to have the momma dubbit hit right on the wing. The mini squawked and swam to shore. It looked angry, but confused to where the shot had come from.
"Uhh..." Charlie stared at the avian and or rodent.

"Don't stare at it too long," Nahm advised. "Look innocent." That was something he wasn't really good at doing, but when not among other grues, the hood and scarf helped immensely.
He targeted the mama dubbit as well, on general principle. Hit again by mysterious forces beyond its control, the dubbit made indignant noises and fluffed its feathers/fur, leading its brood off elsewhere.

Nahm had saved Charlie from the brooding dubbit mama.
"Got it look innocent," Usually that wasn't hard for Charlie. Unless he was up to something like he was right now. Lying was not always the strongest of Charlies traits. Every once in a while he'd tell a lie and believe it him self though, then it was easy to lie. But that wasn't always the case.
Charlie carelessly snatched up another rubber band, pulled back, but snapped the thing in half. He got a nice slap on the nose for the wrong he had done.
"Ooww......" He held his nose. A dubbit not to far off quacked as if it was laughing at the demon.

Nahm got a hit on the laughing dubbit which caused Charlie to laugh.
"Ahahahaha! You got it good Nahm!" He fished out another rubberband and aimed for the same one that Nahm had hit. But he aimed to high and ended up just hitting nothing. His expression froze. Being a little too hasty had not payed off.

"Almost," Nahm said encouragingly. "You got six out of ten, that's pretty good." He aimed his last rubber band at a fat dubbit that appeared to be at least half asleep on a raggedy nest. Snap! The mini woke up in a flurry of feathers and indignation.
"I only got you by one," Nahm added. "You'll be a crack shot in no time." He clapped Charlie's shoulder in congratulation.

He'd lost but the demon was feeling pretty good about him self thanks to Nahm's attitude. Charlie wasn't always the most graceful of losers.
"So you want me to buy you a choke right now or do you want to glue some seeds?" The demon revealed a bottle of glue from his pocket. "We could glue seeds to dubbits and let them run through the school too.." He rubbed his chin thoughtful. Really, gluing anything to a wild minipet was probably a very bad idea on account of they could fight back. But Charlie didn't think of that part.

"You can ... " Nahm remembered abruptly that he was talking to a demon - perhaps not the darkest darkbulb in the room, but still a demon - and hastily changed what he was about to say to, "do that later, it's no big deal. Hah, you've got glue?" He grinned, then blinked as Charlie went on.
"We can let the dubbits recover," he said. He wasn't about to completely discourage Charlie from that idea, because if the other boil ever actually tried it, it'd probably be a sight to be seen. "See, you glue a seed on the ground, and someone will see it and bend over to pick it up. While they're trying to pick it up, they're a nice, big, stationary target." He mimed pulling back a rubber band. "Whap. Right in the tail."
