((KAY xD Also editing in the reply after I roll! ... WTF AMARUS, ONE BOX?! ONE!? Ineptitude! D<))
As much as she had avoided choking on the last move, this time she jumped up on top of one of the boxes, preparing to make a flying leap into the ones that were left, as if trying to learn Neil's jump. Instead, she managed to put too much weight on a soggy part of the box, and while trying to lift off merely squashed the box and fell into the other ones harmlessly, becoming stuck and having to dig herself out.
She was laughing by the time she could extract herself. Clearly, serious-combat-mode was not working, today. She would just have to train?... "I see my training has not prepared me for the art of box-killing," she lamented aloud, with a wry smile, waiting to see how many boxes Neil would indoubtedly destroy this time. In a way.. it made her happier to lose, than to win. It meant that Neil would be someone she could happily compete with, over as many stupid things as possible.

Neil bit his tongue to hold the laughter he felt tickling him on his insides. It was hard. He would have gone over to help the poor ghoul up but she had saved her self. Neil gave her a nod of approval and an honest to god smirk. She was proving that she could take care of her self. Still, the backwards gentleman that Neil was, he kept a concerned eye on her. Secretly. "Nice~" He was being sarcastic in a teasing way. The boil tried again for a spinning kick this time. He did some decent damage but still, no where near as effective as the claws had been. His expression flattened. At least he'd managed five. Neil wanted to be impressive though. More impressive. Something about a ghouls approval was just that important to him. 16 boxes for Neil 8 for Amarus Collective: 24

Amarus wouldn't have minded Neil laughing at her. She was proud, true, but she was also having fun. Typically, having fun meant winning, but apparently that wasn't always the case. Which was good, because while she tried to get herself free of the last few boxes, she watched Neil execute a spinning kick and break another five. He was way ahead of her at this point, especially since the next box she broke was only another accident: she got stuck under the boxes again, and tried to kick her way out, smashing the box keeping her feet stuck.
"What kind of a ghost can't even get out of a bunch of boxes," she said, shaking her head, bells ringing. "You're kicking my spectral a**, Neil," she said, with a wry smile.

He gave up on using his feet and went back to using his claws. Ripping away at cardboard as if it was ... well cardboard. Maybe he was being a bit of a show off, maybe. But he couldn't help it. Not that he wanted to out do the ghoul, nope, he just wanted her acceptance. Female acceptance was important to Neil. He stood there, proud, of the damage he had done. Nine. He'd torn through nine. If one was paying close attention to the boil they would notice he was panting a bit. "I think you just gotta give some more of your spectral a** to the boxes.." He nodded at her thoughtfully. 25 boxes for Neil 9 for Amarus Collective: 34

It was very apparent, very quickly that Neil was impressive with his claws. Amarus nodded once in approval, the corner of her mouth tilting up. Finally, a startled laugh at Neil telling her to give more of her a** to the boxes, she mumbled, "What does that even mean?"
The second she was back on her feet, she rolled her wrists, bounced her weight back and forth between both feet and stretched her legs, and then closed her eyes to concentrate. Again, the kuji-kiri for Rin, and she performed a motion a lot like parting water: both hands together, piercing between two boxes, and then she broke Rin in order to sweep her hands out away from her, destroying a row of seven boxes. Confetti from Neil's torn boxes rained down as she broke the row apart, strips which must have fallen on the other rows, resting there.
"Better," she stated, "but still not good enough." Could Neil repeat his 9-box-slaying move? He had certainly excelled both times he had used his claws.

The gimblewolf wasn't exactly sure what he had meant by the giving your a** to the boxes comment. But that didn't stop him smiling at Amarus's laughter. He wasn't exactly sure what it was that the ghoul was doing. Her hand motions were hypnotizing though. The way she moved and destroyed those boxes? He was going to have to ask her what exactly those special moves were. Now he felt less impressive and boring with how he just went at the boxes like an animal. The gimblewolf tried his luck at a punch. Only two boxes went down. Yeah, maybe claws were his strong suit. Neil: 27 Amarus:16 Collective: 40

The only thing that Amarus had been able to recover from her fighting style were the kuji-kiri, but she could not call them recovery so much as learning. It was just that when she tried to learn how to fight, these were the easiest, they made the most sense to her. Like muscle memory for the deceased; if she had known them before she died, she did not know, she only knew that the symbols represented different energies, and each had its own place in the world. Well, in theory.
Amarus did not typically admire educational or theoretical prowess. What she coveted was power, strength, will. So she didn't think any less of Neil's fighting style, she didn't think of it as unrefined; she saw it for what it was: effective, strong, innate. It was graceful in its own way, to Amarus.
Having used Rin too much lately, the symbol for power, she folded her hands into Kai, a premonition for danger. These were not abilities, rather, just symbols which were meant to attract specific energy. More idea than fact. Still, Amarus toned down her attack, and instead of going for an all-out onslaught of the boxes, she picked up three in one hand, balanced them on one palm, and popped them into the air, using her foot, knee and then elbow to hit each to the ground as they fell. Yes, she was showing off; she wasn't going to win by number of boxes, not after her clumsy failure and inability to get out of the box mess, so she may as well enjoy herself.

Punching was proving to be very ineffective. He went back to animalistically thrashing about with his claws. It was like a miniature city of boxes for him to claw and stomp on and even bite. Okay he got a bit carried away. But his godzilla method proved to be very effective. By the end of it, the boxes were in bits and pieces. And he was on the ground on his knees. Panting. Okay, he'd over done it a bit but still. Those boxes were dead. His tail wagged at the good job he'd done. "I think.." He took a breath, " I think that we showed those boxes. You gotta show me how you do your fighting style some time.." He gave her a small grin and a nod. They'd destroyed those boxes that was for sure. Neil: 37 Amarus: 19 Collective: 50

By the time Neil had finished demolishing all the remaining boxes, Amarus was laughing so hard that it hurt. He looked ridiculous, but he had definitely impressed her. She was, in fact, a little sore to have lost so horribly. But she didn't feel angry or upset-- she felt good, and happy. That was new. Usually, losing anything made her completely and utterly despondent. And unrelenting. She never ceased until she was up to her own standards. Not for the first time, Amarus examined the feeling, and decided that it was a welcome change. Was that what having friends was like?
"Hey..." Amarus walked over to Neil and bent in half to make eye contact with him. Well, sort of in half; she was rather short. "I'll show you mine if you show me how yours works," she promised, with a wide smile. His raw power was clearly effective, in this case at the very least. And it wouldn't hurt to learn. Perhaps they could train together? Although she would rather play a kind of game than just purely train for fighting. Why not have fun and gain skills at the same time.
She straightened, reaching a hand out to offer to help Neil up. Not that he needed help, but it was an automatic habit. From the waist up, she was still completely tangible. "Aren't you hungry?" she asked him, "We could go get food."
