Elliot frowned at the mention of the patronus charm. It was cruel, as far as he was concerned! He didn't want to study them, as much as he wanted to befriend them. Wouldn't that be something to tell others about? Friends with a dementor! Others thought that they were mindless creatures, but Elliot was sure that, if treated like humans, it would not be impossible!
"Yes, Mama, I will be careful!" Elliot teased with a little giggle. "Or maybe I will not, if there are sweets involved..."
The boy bit his lower lip to hold back a laugh, but he wasn't able to disguise his smile. Too, though, he was worried... and prepared to get lost if Attor came after him!

The old Attor would have been after Elliot's throat for that comment. But the current state Attor was he had no bite in him. He didn't really care what names people called him or mocking he tended to shrink as though he have been slapped. He was just trying to help Elliot out he didn't have to be rude.
"Just ....worried about people getting hurt....go ahead what do I care I guess." Attor said opening his book again. "And there are easier ways to get chocolate..."

Ah, he had not meant to upset Attor! It had only been in jest, so Elliot did not understand why it bothered him so much. Then again, the other boy did not seem to be in the best of moods. Elliot frowned again, furrowing his brows.
"I am sorry..." He was not having much luck with Attor today! What had the Slytherin in such a poor mood? "What... What are you reading?" he asked, offering a small smile.

Attor looked back up to Elliot looking a bit weary. And little did Elliot know this had just been Attor since the first day of school.
"It's about inventions dealing in Defense Against the Dark Arts. D.A.D.A is a little passion of mine. You'll never know when, why, or how you might need to protect yourself." Attor looked lost for a moment, he for sure would never be caught without his wand again. Even if he felt like he was safe and sound at home.

That made Elliot perk up a little- Defence Against the Dark Arts was one of his favorite classes! Sure, a patronus charm might be considered defending against the dark arks, but there were other things to it that were more pleasant. After all, it was a great thing to be able to defend oneself if it came to it. Elliot hoped that it would not, but it was still a fascinating subject.
"Oh, 'dat is one of my favorites!" said Elliot cheerily, pulling his bag forward to clutch it. His eyes widened suddenly in thought. "Are you going to make something, then? An invention?"

Attor smiled a little not yet having met someone with an interest in the subject before. He put the book in his lap and pulled out another book from his bag. This was a leather bond book seemingly hand made.
"I want to...I've only ever done sketches before." Attor opened the book to sketches of some of his ideas. "Now some of them are other peoples ideas that I modified but a few are mine....please don't steal my ideas I'm going out on a limb here with you." Attor said for the most part he felt Elliot wasn't a threat.

Elliot shook his head and put up his hands innocently. He didn't want to steal the other boy's ideas! Not only was that terribly rude and immoral- he had his own projects to work on. But mostly it would just be wrong, and wrong was the last thing Elliot wanted to be.
"You should try to make something of your sketches!" he said encouragingly, moving to sit down in front of Attor. "What things do you have?"

Attor smiled at Elliot nodding with satisfaction trusting that Elliot would not betray him. He was a Ravenclaw not a Slytherin after all.
"Good." Attor scooted so Elliot could see his sketches.
"I've always wanted to, but just never had all the skills, but maybe with teachers around to help I could make something." Attor smiled a bit pondering the idea. "Well hmm I've got a few things here. Others are worthless, maybe this one." He pointed to a sketch of something on a persons arm. "Its a quick draw wand holder. Great for duels or someone who works in dangerous situations. I've not really gotten a lot of it figured out yet, but I think this one could be a major success." Attor said with a smile. "Love to get this running before we start real duels in D.A.D.A."

Elliot raised his eyebrows and grinned- a wand holder! That definitely sounded like something useful- albeit a little bit unfair to the other students if it was allowed in class... Still, it would be great if they let Attor try it out!
"Ooh, I bet that you could get bonus points if you had something like that!" Elliot said with a gleeful clap of his hands. Then, more seriously: "Does your wand fall out of your pocket, too?"

Attor smiled at Elliot's reaction hoping everyone would think it a good idea. It was something he hoped wouldn't get into just the wrong hands though. But if he sold it on a wide scale maybe it would become a part of every day life.
"Hope so, but I more hope to make it into a successful product an item every witch and wizard would want." Attor stared at Elliot like he was crazy before speaking again. "Sure does..." Attor laughed his little look being his sense of humor.

Elliot giggled, unable to help but laugh along! He'd actually been somewhat serious about the question, but it was okay to laugh about it. Besides, Attor had looked so glum earlier- it was good to see him smile. Elliot liked to see people happy!
"I am sure 'dat other people have that problem too!" he said with a sharp nod. "You have good plans... I wish I had so many plans! I have ideas for spells and stuff- but I need to work on my charms..."

"My others aren't as far along as this one, but maybe one day." Attor said with a small smile.
"Spells and stuff are much harder so its cool that you have ideas. Maybe we could work together on stuff sometimes. Some of my ideas require permanent charms, maybe you can help me figure them out." Attor said with a smile that was the kind of thing holding up some of his ideas.
