Misunderstood? Riyo's 'wtf" face grew as she tried to piece this together. Okay. So some situation she felt bad about, and others she didn't.
"Sometimes. Yes, that makes me feel great Hel." The ghoul said sarcastically and rolled her eyes, though there was no malice in her words.
"Anyways..." Returning back to the previous subject. "Hel, as far as I can tell (which wasn't very far), the only one concerned with how bad a friend you are is you. Mitsu appreciates you, Mot appreciates you, I don't think Shun appreciates anyone other than Mitsu so he doesn't matter, and I appreciate nobody so I don't count." A shrug followed her words before she added. "Fights happen, and they'll happen no matter who you are or how close you are." At least, that was her experience.

“Heh…” Hel brushed her thumb against her nose, watching Riyo out of the corner of her eye.
Her response left the valkyrie exasperated though. The reaper even gave an exasperated sigh. She didn’t seem so convinced that she was appreciated, but thought about it for a moment. Mitsu cried when Hel reappeared after she had been dissipated by Red’s flames…Mitsu also hugged her tightly in the tent. Mot…he really like the new hat she made him. He cried and he said thank you. That was appreciation…? For her, or for the new hat? Hel kind of had to agree with Riyo’s assessment about Shun, but it was her assessment about herself that had Hel whipping her head around and looking at the cat demoness like she had been offended.
“You don’t appreciate me?” Was Hel’s bottom lip quivering?

Riyo seemed taken aback by Hel's sudden change of expression. What?
"I..." Erm. Oh jeez. She'd made a boo boo. A boo boo that wouldn't have bothered her before the whole field trip fiasco. The feline's clawed hand reached up to scratch the back of her head, red orbs glancing away from the valkyrie. ********, she was at a loss for words. Hel was good at doing that too.
"No, I suppose I wouldn't say that." Riyo admitted reluctantly, her eyes rolling. "Please understand though, I still don't much like or understand the idea of... This." This? Was she referring to being out in a positive social situation? Yes.

Now Hel couldn’t help but grin lightly as Riyo looked away from her, and even scratched the back of her neck. She knew that gesture, she did it often enough herself! The demoness’ answer also pleased her.
“Heh…I know.” The reaper replied, her pace picking up as the ice scream shoppe came into view. “You don’t have a choice in the matter though.” Wasn’t Hel worried about not being a good friend earlier? Now here she was, reinforcing that she was forcing her friendship upon the cat demoness. Good job, Hel. Hel’s grin widened a bit and she went to the door, holding it open for Riyo. “After you, friend.”

Oh, that b***h. She'd done that on purpose, hadn't she?
Riyo's eyes narrowed as they approached the ice cream shop, folding her arms across her chest. "Cute Hel. Real cute. I'll remember the 'not having a choice' thing when you're hanging off a cliff and nobody else is around but me." And that was all she said as she walked in and up to the counter.
Hm. Ice cream. She hadn't had anything like this in a long time. What did she get? The big selection... Seemed to perplex her a little. "I don't much like sweets..."

Hel just chuckled. “If I was dangling off a cliff, Riyo, I know you’d rescue me…because if I died, I’d come back as a ghost or an undead, and then you really wouldn’t get a moment’s sake of peace or rest!”
The valkyrie followed Riyo to the counter, looking over the selections as well. She was going to try something different this time! Probably chocolate…mmm. The reaper, not one to pass up the chance to give the cat demoness some cheek, quipped, “But these are milkshakes…and you’re a cat! Cats like milk.”

"HAH!" Riyo shot back, turning around to look at Hel. "Then I'd just suck you up in a vacuum and toss you off the same cliff." Even though ghosts and vacuums seemed to be a myth.
A twitch of irritation from the feline's tail signified she didn't much appreciate the stereotyping... Even if it was mostly true. "Hel, that's racist. You think that just because I'm a cat I like milk?" She did, but that wasn't the point. "Well I say since you're a valkyrie, you should be able to sing opera and break ******** glass." Jack help them if she really could.
With a small 'hmph', Riyo approached the counter and ordered...
Vanilla. A plain old, boring, vanilla milkshake. Nothing on it. No cherry on top. Just.. Vanilla. Anything more would be too sweet.

“Ha!” Hel further shot back at Riyo. “You think that would stop me, really?” Oh boy, the cat demoness was delusional.
The reaper just laughed obnoxiously as Riyo lectured her about being racist. “Oh but Riyo, you fell into the other stereotypes so well…fish and catnip…it was only safe to assume that you’d like milk as well!” Hel grinned up at her, rather widely. “Oh, but Riyo.” Hel started again, her tone turning mighty haughty. “I can sing opera and break glass with my voice.”
She stayed at Riyo’s side, and ordered a chocolate milkshake, and even fished out the seeds to pay for both of them. After she collected her change, the valkyrie moved back down the counter, waiting for their orders, and happened to glance around to see who was in the shop today. Her gaze happened to fall on a couple who were sharing one large milkshake. They were holding each others hands, and also happened to be staring at each other rather intently. Hel’s brow quirked…woah…were they…in love?

Now WHY had Riyo agreed to come out again? Hadn't Hel been depressed not too long ago?
When the valkyrie confirmed that she could indeed sing opera and break glass, the feline slapped her forehead with her palm. "Jeez... You can't be serious..." She mumbled and moved to stand with the ghoul, doing her best to ignore the fact that Hel had just paid for her.
Maybe she could sneak the silver back into her pocket later, since nobody seemed keen on taking it when she demanded they not pay for her.
Ah, wait. Why was it so quiet? Hel wasn't taunting her. Something was going on. Following the reaper's line of sight, the ghoul scowled when she finally spotted the culprit of stealing Hel's attention. "Oh for the love of..." If that wasn't the most cliche thing ever...
"It's disgusting, isn't it?" She asked the valkyrie as her head shook.

Hel wasn’t exactly sure why she was so enthralled with openly staring at the couple some distance away.
Regardless, Riyo’s snide comments took her out of her stupor, and she turned her head to regard the Bakeneko. “Disgusting? No, I do not believe so.” It was then that their milkshake orders were placed in front of them, and Hel picked up both of them before heading over to claim a booth for the two. She slid into one of the seats, and slid over Riyo’s milkshake to the other side. The reaper took a sip of hers, and then sighed with content.
“It’s so good ~”

Riyo couldn't help but raise a brow at Hel's...
... Fascination with the couple. "Oh, don't tell me you're some kind of hopeless romantic." Riyo scoffed and sat down with the valkyrie, taking her milkshake and staring at it. "Lemme tell you something. Love? It's a bunch of bull. You have those little happy fuzzy moments for awhile, but when it wears off it's just one big mess." Was Riyo speaking from experience? Yes. From her own? No.
Finally, she took a sip of her milkshake. Now, in her mind it was pretty good, but admitting that would be asinine. "It's okay." She commented nonchalantly.

Now…Hel liked to think she could hide her emotions well…the only problem was…she had a very expressive face that could give her away if you were paying attention.
Silly reaper ghoul, just because you say you don’t feel that way doesn’t mean you’re hiding it! Maybe eventually she’d learn to start schooling her facial expressions as well. For now, she felt she was pretty suave, and was still confused as to how everyone else seemed keen on figuring out how she was feeling. Except for Mot. At least it worked on someone! What a terrible good point… “I...I’m not!” The reaper scowled, glancing down at her milkshake. Her facial expression? Busted. Hel took another sip, looking up at Riyo as she went on to describe ‘how bad love was’. “Has that happened to you?” The reaper questioned curiously.

Yeah. Sure she wasn't. Riyo only shook her head and sipped on her frozen beverage a little more before Hel asked if she really was speaking from experience.
Silently, the feline leaned back in her chair and glanced out the window. "Not directly." She admitted, a solemn look on her face. "My father up and left my mother when I was little and never came back. I haven't seen or heard from him since that day..."
Reaching up, the ghoul took a hold of her straw and started stirring the beverage idly. "I don't remember much from when I was that little, but I remember him tossing around the word love a lot. Awhile later my mother told me I was the reason he left... So yeah. He must've really loved her, huh?" It was a very bitter comment, even from the feline's mouth. It was obvious to anyone around that she held contempt for her old man. Both for abandoning her mother and abandoning her. "After that day mother always said that he had only been after her body and her money the whole time... Which is why I'm not interested in any of that."
Glancing back to the valkyrie, she sighed. "Why does it interest you so much?"

Hel nursed her shake as Riyo leaning back and looked out the window, watching the cat demoness intently and listening as she told her story.
That was…a rather sad story. Hel looked down at her milkshake thoughtfully, humming softly before she suddenly piped up, “If that is what you think of love, then I think you need to find a new view on it!” She announced rather boldly. “You need to let go of the past, remember? It’s obviously not brining you any good by clinging to it like you do.” Hel grinned a bit at Riyo now. “We need to find you a new outlook on it now!”
For now, she was also ignoring Riyo’s question about why it interested her so much.

Oh Jack, what had she done? Telling Hel about her feelings always seemed to lead the valkyrie to the conclusion that those feelings needed to be changed... And this was something the ghoul didn't particularly want to change on.
"Ohnononono." Riyo started and shook her head. "Hel, lets take a second and evaluate the situation. First off, I remember things from the past like that to make sure I don't get ******** over (maybe literally) like my mother did. Second, look at me." The feline pushed the milkshake away for a moment and gestured to herself. "Do I look like the kind of person who wants to hold hands with somebody? Do you think someone would be interested in this?" Seriously. The way she dressed wasn't just for fashion. It was also a guy repellent.
"And you still haven't answered my question!" Oh, she wasn't letting it go that easily. "Why does it interest you?"
