"I-I'm not... B-but, if Team Rocket is being more active, l-like Stephen and the others say... W-we need to be prepared... U-um... that's what the others say. B-but, it couldn't hurt." Izumi was by no means an adept trainer. She was only technically a trainer anyway, and had never really been in a pokemon battle. She walked beside Jerome as they made their way towards the park.

He looked over at her quickly when Team Rocket was brought up... what the- "Team Rocket?" He frowned lightly, what did team rocket have to do with this? and why would they need to be prepared.
"What, is this some kind of self defense thing?"

"I-I think so... T-they already got one of Rosie's pokemon... A-and that isn't right..." Izumi paused and looked up at Jerome, "I-I don't want to lose Wheatley again, or any of my other friends... So... I'm going to go, um... train... I just-" Had really hoped that he would come with her. The thought of going and doing this, even with her other friends, made her nervous. What if she wasn't good enough? What if they got into a real battle and she couldn't protect her friends?

Jerome crossed his arms, frowning softly as this as he listened to her try and explain. He found himself not to sure as to what he should think about this. His initial reaction was to out right tell her it was a bad idea, don't try and stand up to Team Rocket, just make yourself as little as possible and hope they don't see you. you might lose a pokemon, but you will stay alive!
But he thought about it... she would be out of Kodo for a while, and from what he heard, with other people. training pokemon wasn't a bad idea either, at least they could help protect her more. Plus... she didn't seem the kind to go out picking fights, just because she could.
"... What pokmon, you got to train?" He asked, after a long, pause.

Long pauses didn't make Izumi very comfortable, and she fidgeted with her arm while Jerome was silent. She didn't understand why he couldn't come with them, even though he said it was because of work. Wouldn't they let him have some time off? Maybe he was mad at her... She started when Jerome finally spoke.
"U-um... Wheatley and Glados... A-and Gerty..." That was it. That was Izumi's team. A Beldum, a Metang, and a skittish Zorua. Save for Glados, her team was basically useless, and wasn't helped by a completely inexperienced trainer.

He knew Glados would be great for battle, training and all... but She didn't really have much in the way of useable pokemon, at least not until they toughened up themselves. Jerome let out a sigh sigh though his nose, though he looked as if he was thinking.
He glanced back down at her after a moment, and noticed how uncomfortable she looked. Reaching a hand out to put it on her shoulder. "Glados seems to know what she's doin'" He said "She's got the instinct for it."

"...Maybe she should be the trainer." Izumi had no instinct for battling. Her only instincts consisted of machinery and running away. There was an almost tangible cloud of melancholy hanging over the mechanic, persisting even after Jerome put his hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, C'mon don't go with that thinkin'" He said, squeezing her shoulder a little. "Its a good way to spend time with friends, and pokemon. You'll get the hang of it." He sounded confident in this, at least he didn't sound to worried about it.
It was probably harder then he expected, but... it was getting her out of Kodo for a while, away from the gangs, away from Team Rocket and Izaya. "You'll got yer bro's there too, ain't ganna be so hard."

"...Yeah... But..." Izumi looked down at her bright orange kicks, "You won't be there..." So one of her bros would be missing, and it was bumming her out. It was a feeling similar to having a favorite wrench go missing or taking a trip and leaving your security blanket behind. "A-and I don't know when we're coming back..." It wasn't like her shop would miss her, what with it being closed down for the time being.

Jerome blinked once when she said that, standing very still, before he straightened up a little, only to shrink his form between his shoulders. his eyes widened slightly as he watched her, before he glanced away, not really sure what to say to that. Tell her the truth? No, that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
He couldn't really say anything, he knew. Nothing to say. "..." The silence lingered like that for a time, Jerome just being unhelpful, his silence probably not helping. But in his silence he got an idea, this spark prompted him to slowly reached into his pocket, and pull out a pokeball, holding it out to her. "Then take this."

Izumi looked up at Jerome, then to his hand and the pokeball in it. "W-what...?" She was confused. "Why...?" It was more a question borne from being in a mopey-haze than of actual lack of understanding.

"New pokemon I've been trainin'" He told her. "Figure if I can't be there, then maybe she can look out for you in my place.. yeah?" He stretched his arm out, holding it for her to take the ball. "Name's Killa"

Izumi stared at the outstretched pokeball and gingerly took it. "..." She looked at it for a long moment and then at Jerome, cracking a small smile. "Thanks Jerome..." She said as gave her best friend a timid hug. It was sweet of him to give her one of his pokemon, and his reasoning was thoughtful.

One of his strong arms reached out around her shoulders when she hugged him, giving a soft, half smile. "S'no problem, just learn how to kick some a**, a'ight?"
He glanced around again, almost instinct to check their back, forgetting they were in an aria was wasn't really a gang turff. "M'sure Tux can teach you a thing of two."

"Alright..." That was funny. Izumi and kicking a** didn't really fit in the same sentence together. "I'll try." She released her hug and moved the pokeball around in her hands. It was time to meet this pokemon.
The ball opened with a flash of light, which pooled and formed into a huge shape. Izumi was silent when the light faded and a huge Arcanine stood before her. She looked to be shaking. Izumi finally unfroze as she stumbled backwards with a whimper.
