Camelot could only watch as the youma attacked Athene. His whole upper body had gone numb, and he couldn't get command over it enough to drag himself over there. He was gripping his neck, but it wasn't bleeding, the teeth only penetrating his skin shallowly despite how many of them there were.
He watched as the younger senshi managed to smash the youma with Camelot's shield, and the thing burst into dust. Familiar, very welcomed dust. He took a slow breath, feeling the numbing sensation fading almost immediately. With the last of the youma gone, it seemed, the effect of its poison faded.
Slowly, Camelot worked his way to his feet.
"Are you alright?" he asked, walking over to him. Camelot's face was very impressed, and now that the danger had passed he smirked knowingly. He patted Athene on the shoulder, offering to take his shield back. "Expertly done! I'm sorry I got a little caught up there..."

Athene had ended up with Camelot's shield resting against his legs, taking a moment to catch his breath before he went to check on the Squire.
It was with welcome relief that he heard the other's voice. “You're okay!” To someone who spent most his time trying to be polite, the words were uncharacteristically blurted out, the tone one of honest relief as Athene caught sight of the Squire. To be honest for a while back then the dark-haired senshi had been somewhat worried – well okay he'd been more than just a little worried.
Athene's face reddened as his mind caught up with his outburst. “I mean um, I'm glad you're all right.” The dark-haired senshi managed a tired smile at Camelot's words. “Actually that last youma kind of dusted itself.” It had been a timing thing – if the youma hadn't chosen that moment to jump then maybe things would have gone differently. Holding out the Squire's shield for Camelot to take Athene added “Thank you for throwing this my way, I'm okay too thanks to it.”Yes he was sore and yes he was probably going to end up with some interesting bruises for a bit, however things could have been a lot worse – for a start one of those things could have bitten him.

Camelot laughed and nodded his head, just as glad to be okay as Athene seemed to be for him. He was also glad that the senshi had not been hurt while Camelot had been failing to be useful, as he never would have forgiven himself if he had let something happen to the young white moon fighter.
"I'm glad you are, too. You handled my shield better than I do!"
Compliments never hurt. And with how tense things had been for a moment there, they needed to lift some spirits a bit. It was scary, really, their jobs, and the thing he found helped the most with going to 'work' every day, fighting the good fight, was the camaraderie it encouraged.
He had made some very dear friends in all this.
Gladly taking his shield back as it was offered, he patted the dragon ingrained in the wood and smiled at Athene, nodding his head. "Well, most youma fights, I find, are more about luck than anything else. Though I once heard that luck was just preparation meeting opportunity. I'm not sure how much that applies here."
He laughed though, thinking about it. If Athene had been training recently, maybe this had simply been the opportunity to use it.

Athene wasn't sure about the luck meeting opportunity part – although mayhaps the youma choosing that precise moment in time to leap was something that could be attributed to the idea. “I'm glad Lady Luck chose to favour us” he returned Camelot's smile. “I think we made a pretty good team.”
It hadn't been exactly elegant and Athene would be the first to admit that his actions had been fuelled by desperation – most of it panicked..
At the end of the day though they were both standing – both in one piece, and that as far as the dark-haired senshi was concerned made it as great a result as anything else.
