(All riders have generic “passengers”. Feel free to appoint yourself one of their passengers if you need a ride. Wykla- Melvren, S’kor/Otheli-Trine.)

Wykla, young rider of blue Kameth, surveyed Southern Weyr as her dragon took his time gliding down. His wide wings made it so effortless. She grinned, this was their first chance to visit this Weyr. They had to get a reference point from another rider to come. She had worked out a good excuse to come too. Wykla had allowed a couple passengers to come with them. The one directly behind her, clutched frantically at her belt as Kameth banked in a long circle. As if she or Kameth would drop them.

Satisfied with their dragoneye over-view of the Weyr, Wykla started looking for a place to land. How about there Kameth? She pictured the spot. It wasn’t large as there was more dragons here than she’d expected, but her long winged blue could surely get them in.

Kameth rumbled his agreement. He was the best blue, and flying was his element. With a swirl and flutter of bright blue wings saw His and passengers safely down. He turned his head around to watch the dismounting. Aerith and Hers are here Mine. Boreal appeared from between with a pleased cheep. He settled on His girl’s shoulder and looked around the unfamiliar Weyr. The bronze was pleased His had let him alone come along.

S’kor reached the ground with a practiced slide down his dragon’s foreleg. He turned then to assist his passengers down from the wide back. Even when Scarath crouched it could still be daunting. Once everyone was had feet on the ground, he gave an affection slap to his dragon. We’ll be here awhile I think. Go make yourself comfortable. He turned to watch a nervous green nearby and her rider helping down passengers aswell.
Scarath rumbled affectionately to His. Will you bring me back those pastries you promised? Blue eyes fastened on the man standing at his side. The bronze was sure there would be many new tasty things to try here. Dynith’s is almost done Mine. She will be right over. S’kor gave a hearty laugh and nodded. “Aye, I did promise remember? You’ll get your danties. Just don’t go trying to squeeze into their kitchens okay Scarath?” He felt the dragons indignation.

Optheli had fewer passengers than her brother, but she still took the time to see them down. A hand rested on her nervous green’s neck to keep her from fidgeting. Dynith had been a bundle of nerves since Optheli had mentioned wanting to go. She was use to the anxieties and soothed them automatically. It’s alright Dynith. Do you want me to leave ismay with you? The green flit loved to curl up with the anxious green dragon.
Dynith shifted her hauntches as her eyes whirled yellow. There are so many dragons Mine. Many more dragons than in her own Weyr for sure. Yes Mine. She settled down and made herself as small as she could; she didn’t want to be in the way of the bigger dragons. Hopefully no one would try to land on her. Ismay hummed and fluttered up to her favorite spot on the green’s neck.

Optheli grinned and gave the green muzzle an affection caress. “Don’t worry dear. We won’t be long.” The greenrider strolled happily over to S’kor and Scarath. “Thanks for waiting. Shall we be off?”

Dinahsk, for her part, was delighted about the dragonride, and even more delighted when they arrived. There were people and dragons everywhere! She trilled her happiness while waiting to be let down, then did a little dance once on the ground. She whistled and clicked, unable to contain her considerable excitement, and attempted to bump noses with Yvoth. Good Big, good fly! she declared.

"Not bad at all," Dinah agreed, settling her wher with a hand on her back. The young green sat beside her, tail flicking busily as she surveyed their surroundings. "Thanks a lot for the ride."

--

His greeting delivered, Mazamath let Aerith be. He was content to watch everyone else for now, and conserve his energy just in case a situation arose that might require it. He was pleased when another of his clutchmates appeared - it was good to have more Malvren dragons and riders, and made him feel better about 'allowing' His to come.

Hello, Kameth, he offered casually.

Adi, meanwhile, was trying to decide who to talk to. There was Mercy, and now Wykla, but she was tempted by the younger dragons she could see. But there was a black, which meant they were from Trine, and...oh, shard it, she wasn't mad it Trine, and certainly not at some young riders she'd never met before. All this business just made her sad, more than anything, and a little scared.

You should talk to Aerith's, Maz advised cautiously, Maybe you can meet new people together.

If it makes you feel better. Adi waved at the whiterider, calling, "Hey, Mercy!"

Mercy/Aerith - Malvren

'Perhaps' Aerith allowed although not being the type to take a compliment - and she considered praise to her agility a compliment - without giving one in return she thoughtfully added 'But I imagine that you can fly for a good bit longer then I can..and started sooner as well, all of my clutchmates flew before I did' She admitted and she doubted that it would have been different had she been born into any other clutch. 'And you will get to fight the thread, mine says I will not be allowed' She continued on in a slightly disappointed tone. Although Mercy had explained several times that they would simply find another way to help Pern - it was still hard to be a dragon and not be allowed to do what you were born to do.

When the blues rider offered a slightly terse nod Mercy returned it with a small smile, patting Aerith's neck absently as the other rider strode off. It was more then sad really - in days past they might have spoken to one another and while Aerith relayed the apology from Lerath, Mercy scratched her white affectionately "It's alright, times are hard I understand" She responded knowing that the white would pass it on.

'Mine says it is understandable' Aerith relayed back to the blue before turning her thoughts to the more troublesome comment the other had made 'I certainly hope not - mine has told me that the bronze who sired my clutch was from Benden, it would be a shame to have to fight him..or any of the others. Mine does not believe that a dragonrider was responsible for the attacks, no dragonrider she says could ever hurt a bonded pair' Aerith herself wasn't sure what to think but Mercy's opinion seemed to make sense to the white and so she parroted that for the time being

Having spotted the arrival of Kameth, Aerith sent him a happy greeting and relayed their arrival to Mercy before turning her attention back to Lerath. Mercy waved at Wykla as she landed though she wasn't sure if she had seen them - what with helping her passengers off and then she was distracted when someone called out her name. Turning about she spotted Adi waving to her and gave the other rider a bright smile "Hey Adi" She greeted the other and feeling better now that she had seen two others from Malvren she headed towards the other girl. "Turning out to be quite a crowd isn't it" she remarked as she got closer.

D'lin/Plexith - Trine

"I've been watching the lessons from time to time" D'lin commented - both he and Plexith agreed it was a wise thing to do and made time for it whenever they had the chance, with both the current tensions between the Weyrs and the upcoming threat of thread it was simply nice to know how those they might fly with someday were coming along. "She's an eager one your Halith but there's nothing wrong with that" Sure the green tended to rush once in a while but D'lin was sure that both she and Ceta would come into their own with a bit more flying under their belts - they had only been flying for a short time after all.

Plexith had easily found Halith and her black clutchmate. 'Halith, Zetath' The older bronze greeted the two while he settled nearby in a slightly quieter manner then Haliths exuberant greeting, the blue, Neptanth, was around as well but currently playing in the water so Plexith let him be. Plexith wasn't sure which game Halith was speaking of - but he'd become accustomed to the greens hyper ways and decided that if he didn't question her about it perhaps she would forget about it. ' There are many here today' He commented instead as a way of opening polite conversation with the two.

"So she has - I think Plexith has decided it's his duty to watch over the younger dragons here today" D'lin remarked with a slight laugh and really he supposed the younger dragons could do worse then having a bronze looking after them. "We've been..about as well as we can be I think, Plexith was quite upset of course when Brakiath went off, we can only thank her for saving Abigail" And of course hope for the Weyrwomen's recovery.

'Scarath has arrived' Plexith told D'lin 'Along with that nervous green Dynith' He added after a few moments - he didn't sound to thrilled about the nervous green but there was certainly some relief in his voice when he spoke of Scarath - while Plexith thought that he of course was the best bronze at Trine it was still nice to have a second bronze around - just in case. 'Scarath, Dynith' He greeted them cordially before inviting them both to come and rest alongside he and the other Trine dragons.

Glancing over at the landing area D'lin thought he could see the massive hide of his fellow bronzeriders dragon but they had moved far enough away now that short of yelling he couldn't very well greet them. Well maybe he'd run into him later.

(Wykla- Malvren, S’kor/Optheli-Trine.)

Wykla turned from watching her passengers wander away and looked for the familiar white hide of Aerith. She reached up to stroke Boreal's wings until she spotted the pair. Yup there they were. The young girl nodded to Kameth and headed over, at least to say hello. She wanted to go around and see what else she could see while they were here.

"Mercy! Adi." Wykla greeted the other riders as she came within speaking distance. "How are things going?"
Boreal gave a hum of greeting to the riders and two dragons.
Kameth settled himself primly with a flick of his wings. Greeting Mazamath, Aerith. Yours is well I hope? He responded politely.

S’kor gave a grin to Optheli. "Of course. D'lin is here too." He told her. Together the siblings made their way to the other bronzerider. "Hey D'lin. All seems quiet." S'kor was a bit surprised they let anyone come at all. With the current tension between Benden and Malvren, he would have swore there would be fights. His practiced eye looked around for the traders he expected. It would be unlike them to miss such a large gathering.
Scarath rumbled a greeting to Plexith before making his way slowly toward the other dragons. Partly his slow pace came from the distraction. Drudges mingling among those waiting outside, carrying trays of food and drink. These drudges though, weren't wise to his facination. The bronze was just waiting for one to come walking close enough with a tray held high.

He settled a polite distance from Plexith and looked around. It is nice for so many to get together. Gatherings for him, meant new dainties to try. Ooooh there was drudge coming. A little closer... a little closer. Oh he turned aside. Scarath gave a soft sigh.

Optheli strolled easily along beside S'kor. Her head turned as she tried to spot all the riders. If anyone met her eyes she gave them a wide grin. It didn’t matter what Weyr they were from, they were all riders. “Hello D’lin,” she greeted him with a broad smile. Dynith widened her eyes and they spun faster as Plexith spoke to her. Mine… mine Plexith called me by name. She sounded reverent that a bronze should know who she was. She glanced back in the direction of the green and suppressed a chuckle. You should say hello to him to be polite. She turned back to the gathering of Trine riders.

Dynith ducked her head shyly and whispered very softly back to the bronze. Hello Plexith. She blinked at the invitation to come closer. Oh she couldn’t! Could she? The green compromised by moving a couple steps closer, but not as close as Scarath. Thank you, she said as softly as before.

(S'kiro/Neptanth-Trine)
S'kiro watched as His went into the water. The large blue made quite an impression out there. Mine, some of my clutchmates are here. You should talk to Theirs. The rider turned, making his way towards the others of Trine. He was curious to know what they were thinking about having Benden and Malvren riders and... Was that a Wher? He shook his head, continuing his way to Halith's rider.

Before he got far, a blue and gold flit joined him. "Ishbel, Sprite. What are you two doing here?" He hadn't got much more out when the deep gratitude came from Neptanth. It seemed the others where getting his spots. "Well you two, lets go see what we have going on." There were so many people, he was getting nervous.

((K’la and Yvoth – Benden))

Yvoth, ever cheerful, crooned happily in response. Carefully, she tapped her nose against the young wher’s and sent an impression of happiness in return. Good, I go, she sent back simplistically, and moved away from the odd trio on the ground. Once she was far enough away she crouched deeply and launched her light body (for a dragon anyway) into the air. There was only so much room to be had, and she could look out for Benden dragons better from a different vantage point.

K’la smiled slightly while reminding herself to have Yvoth bathe later. “We’re happy to oblige. I’ll find you when we’re ready to go,” she answered with a light nod.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

((V’al and Lerath - Trine))

Lerath hummed in consolation. Maybe you can help fly firestone sacks to the active wings? Perhaps just when things get tight and a smaller dragon would have the advantage. for a moment he was lost in musing, but he shook himself from it. Anyway, thread hurts. Mine and I Timed to the past once and, well… He extended his right forelimb, uncurling his foot to place it lightly on the ground. The threadscore that had withered away the flesh towards his foot and faded away towards his shoulder was long healed, but it served as a grim testament of times to come. Despite the display, Lerath’s tone was slightly amused. I understand wanting to fly thread, and I can’t wait to try it properly, but your hide looks much prettier the way it is.

He tilted his head thoughtfully at Aerith’s borrowed guesses. I would to anything to protect mine, and I would do what Brakaith says to, but I wouldn’t want to hurt another dragon. I don’t know; it is all very complicated.

((V'al and Lerath - Trine))

V’al looked over the grounds, his gaze slow and full of gravitas uncommon in a young man of seventeen turns. Except for his own dragon who was too curious to keep to himself, it seemed that everyone was respecting the strange tension in the air and staying away from anyone who didn’t have their own weyr’s colors on their shoulders. He could even spot the large group of his wingmates, chatting amongst themselves. Even Optheli, who he had once shared a weyr with, and her timid Dynith had been coaxed into the camaraderie. Normally, V’al would have been amongst them, or at least close enough to listen to their conversation, but this wasn’t usual, and he hadn’t come to Southern to fraternize with comrades he could see any time.

He was trying to decide if there was anyone from Malvren willing to talk politics with a technically former ally when he spotted a young man who looked similar to himself from a distance scurrying off into the shadows near the entrance of the meeting hall. His expression cooled further (it was somehow possible) and he ambled in the same direction. Closer, he was able to make out – of course– Benden’s colors in the fellow’s knots, as well as the shade of a wherhandler. What legitimate reason could he even be here for? It was know the handlers and their beasts were springing up like weeds now that the weyrs were off balance, but as far as the young rider was concerned they were better suited for their traditional roles. “I can’t decide,” he intoned as he stopped a few paces away from Tsubari and hooked a thumb over his belt, “if you’re eavesdropping or waiting to count heads when the Weyrleaders come out.”

Cetalese sobered at the reminder of their Weyrwoman still unresponsive. Brakiath's color these days wasn't good, but who could blame her. Her rider was living, but unreachable. Cetalese couldn't imagine what that was like. Everyone kept hoping Abigail would awaken, but it didn't seem like that would happen anytime soon. Things were looking as dark for Trine as they were for Malvren and Benden, though she thought those weyrs with lost leaders would disagree with her.

They fell into silence for a few minutes, but it was broken by someone addressing D'lin. Ceta turned and recognized the riders who had taught the Candidates how to oil their potential future dragons and spot dry patches (something which had come greatly in handy, as Halith seemed set on breaking the record for amount of flaking hide until very recently). Neither Optheli, nor S'kor, addressed her, so she stayed silent and smiled politely at Optheli when the woman met her eyes instead, and returned her gaze to D'lin as he and S'kor made small talk for a moment. If it seemed as if they had a lot to discuss, then Ceta would brave the weyr on her own again and let them catch up. After all, she and D'lin had only met a handful of times; it seemed as if he S'kor and Optheli had known him for some time.

(Tsubari-Benden)
Just as he reached the shade and let his eyes adjust to the glare of the sun, a voice caught him slightly off guard. The nineteen year old handler turned to look at who would talk to him like that. Tsubari was expecting to see a brown or possibly a brozne rider, but the knots shown that the young man infront of him was just a blue rider. His lips quirked into a small smirk, "And you are the self appointed guard, I take it?" If he was going to get into trouble just for wanting to be in the sun, he would prefer it to be from someone in charge.

((Val and Lerath - Trine))

V’al’s response was delivered deadpan, but his sentiment was clear enough from his wording even without expression in his face or tone. “Just being observant. I wouldn’t think to lecture a handler about guarding usually, but with everything that’s been happening in the dark hours, and the fact that Benden can’t recall where it’s misplaced its Ancientcrafter, perhaps you could use a few pointers.”

Optheli managed to peer around the male bodies and spot another Trine rider. "Cetalese! Good to see you. How are you and Halith doing?" She greeted the other rider enthusiastically. Let her brother have his chitchat.

(Tsubari-Benden)

The smirk stayed on his face, but his eyes twitched. How dare he say that! "Our handlers did the best they could to find the Ancientcrafter. We at least didn't stay huddled up in our Weyr afraid to step on another toes when it happened." Returning to a more casual stance, Tsubari continued. "As for pointers, it seems you would need some as it was the Sr. Gold who saved Hers when she was attacked." He hadn't forgotten that when Benden lost their Weyrwoman and dragon, there was nobody near to save her.

Cetalese looked back to Optheli with surprise, but her gentle smile was warm. "We've been doing well. It's been a while since I've seen you. How are you and Dynith?" Ceta tended not to forget names, and she was doing her best to memorize the riders she came into contact with at the weyr. Scarath and S'kor she remembered well, and she'd only had to ask Lina about the other rider to get Optheli's name and that of her Green so many months ago. Optheli and S'kor must have just arrived, as Ceta couldn't remember seeing their dragons. Then again, there were so many here, it was possible she had missed them.

"Did you just arrive?" Halith had been helping her in some ways. Ceta was more used to continuing conversation now, though that usually didn't last very long. Still, she spoke more often now than she had in Turns past.

Involved as Lerath had been with the white, a certain kind of anxiety had begun to tighten in his stomach. As his eyes began to fade into a more hostile shade than their typical green, he sent a mental nudge of inquiry to his rider, but His was too involved to take active notice.

V’al snorted derisively at the reference to Trine’s neutrality, as if to say, do I look huddled? “Their best?” he prompted instead, lifting an eyebrow. “I suppose your fellows best isn’t enough to do the job, especially since it sounds as if you’ve given up – I wonder how long that took. And Abigail had the wit at least stay with her dragon, and that’s saved her life and seen the assassin killed. Could you remind me of Kestril’s contributions; besides murdering shelled dragonets with her indifference or letting Givon and then W’lin drag her weyr through the dirt with their power fantasies?”

Mine… Even Lerath, who was unendingly devoted to his rider and was now holding back a growl sympathetic to V’al’s otherwise concealed hostility, held his breath at the sharp criticism. It was one thing to slight Benden, but it was another to effectively spit on the grave of the recently murdered weyrwoman. It was a challenge – clear and simple.
