She glanced back at him when he spoke again after she finished up her summery of what happened back in the lab, and why she felt Seth had it in his rights to send her to Isadora, tilting her head softly at his passing question, that she took as more of a comment.
One side of her lips twitched up at his thanks, not really expecting to be thanked for telling him that, but she figured it came with him just liking to hear the story from the person themselves. “Can’t let something like that get to me, “ She finished. And left it at that.
Out having fun on a day off, man how many times had she heard that, of course a lot of that had to do with people in her past she would rather not think about anymore, and while she didn’t exactly have any real desire to go out of the HQ, she couldn’t exactly just say no. She knew from the past that Izaya liked to get rockets out of their element, as she remembered the anniversary party at the Karaoke bar, she recalled that could have gone a little better as well. “Alright.” She said, glancing at his hand when he pats her shoulder. “If you really think so, then I’m willing to give it a try.” She tried to avoid leaving the HQ, not only because of the work but because she didn’t like it out there. Who knew, maybe it could be good for her every once in a while.
Her own smile at his words and gesture was joined a breath like a pleasant laugh. She shifted, crossing her legs. “That word you add after my name, that ‘chan’” she said, noticing it quite a while ago, but never asking about it. “Is that a Japanese term? What it is?” She was certainly curious about it, and considering he was Japanese, she could guess it was something he picked up from his culture.
She had to pause, when he asked her an interesting question, pointing out something that was, logically, very true about people and about pokemon. She tapped a nail against the counter top, considering how she wanted to reply. “I guess the difference is just that they are a different species. I’ll be honest, I never really had a reason to work much with pokemon before I joined Rocket, I knew less about them then I did about reading people. “ She lifted a hand in a light gesture. “It might just be me not looking hard enough, but eventually one gets in the mind set of just assuming dishonesty in those little gestures you’re talking about, despite what they might actually be translating.” It could also be that a lot of people were just too scared to look that deep into another human being.
“I had to learn how to work with pokemon pretty quickly, it was just fortune that dark types seemed to be best suited for me.” She glanced down at the pokeballs strapped to her thigh. “I notice you used all dark types as well, was that just by chance?”
When he answered the question she had posed to him, Faleen blinked as he went from thoughtful, to a look that she remembered seeing back in the ally when he had set up a meeting with his twin sisters. She recalled a man was brought up that night as well that he apparently loathed. She wondered if this was the same man. Lips parting lightly as she listened. He changed the subject though, seeming to shake off whatever negative thoughts he had and move on. seemed even someone like him had someone that he couldn’t stand… a few actually, if she remembered.
She remained quiet, thought her brow did furrow as she listened to his explanation, and once again, like the first time it had been explained to her at their first time meeting, his loyalty wasn’t where she felt it should be… Though she always knew that, from the first time she met him, and he was even saying it now. Having a loyalty like he described was something she considered dangerous. What if he did get tired of this organization? He could just as easily betray them the way Wi-Lance betrayed them.
It was odd though, with as loyal as he seemed to understand she was, why would me be saying this to her. It did occur to her that she was worrying needlessly. There wasn’t anything wrong with wanting to stay alive, they all wanted to stay alive, and staying in good health was more beneficial to the organization. She remained carefully quiet for a moment, and she didn’t pry further, probably because she didn’t know what to say. She knew from the start she would have to watch out for that after all.
Her focus moved instead on his last question, one he asked a few times before, but like he said, she didn’t answer in a way that was really clear; she knew she avoided the answer mostly. And once again she had to pause to give it some though, probably because she was starting to look a little more warn out then she had walking into the café. “It’s… complicated, I guess.” She answered, knowing it wasn’t want he wanted to really hear. “I’ll be honest; I don’t really know how to explain it.” She looked back at him; she looked somewhat apologetic, though not exactly remorseful.

"You know, that girl at the Karaoke bar? Izumi-chan?" Izaya brought up after Faleen agreed to giving 'fun' a try. "Jerry-kun showed me the place she works at. You were interested in her arm, weren't you? I bet the both of you share some common interests. No doubt you could find some fun somewhere in her garage, and I'm sure she could use some more company."
After all the things he put Aila through, he didn't want to start Faleen off by scaring her with his impulsive ideas. The shopping spree had mostly been because Aila had seemed to be a fan of fashion. While Agent Faleen was obviously a fan of mechanics and technology, leaving the base wasn't entirely necessary, but it would certainly have done her some good. At least her new partner couldn't see a reason not to believe as much.
"Eh? Oh, yes. 'Chan'," he began, looking somewhat embarrassed, "is a suffix we use generally when addressing cute girls or small children. It's also an endearing term used for those who are intimately close, so sometimes others can take offense. It can often give the impression of being spoken down to, but I usually like to allow my addressee to decide what they think I mean by it."
He chuckled at a memory. "Using it with a male, particularly a superior, is thought to be especially condescending and rude, which is why I imagine Seth-sama got so angry with me with my use of it upon our first meeting. I honestly had no idea he was of Japanese ethnicity himself," the grunt added with a sneer. "Didn't think he'd catch the meaning. My mistake."
"If it bothers you, Agent, you can let me know any time and I'll stop," Izaya was quick to say. "I rather like to think that we could get along well enough for you to be comfortable with me using such an intimate suffix. If not instantly, then maybe in time. Perhaps it'll grow on you."
Hearing Faleen's reasoning on the difference between humans and pokemon, he nodded in agreement. Too right, they were different species. One he loved and one he could do without. But it was news to him that Faleen had supposedly been less experienced with pokemon than she had been with people. It was very much like he was now, and this revelation shocked the grunt. Perhaps with time and training, she would show him how to read pokemon too. They couldn't be much harder than humans, could they...?
"...Yes, I guess it's easier to just assume the worst in people than to give them the benefit of the doubt," Izaya mumbled in an odd tone. It was difficult to tell if he was sincere or simply being sarcastic. "It's a lot safer that way, too. I completely understand your point, and you're right, of course. Only that sort of thinking and lifestyle leaves one very, very alone." He smiled up at her curiously. "So the real question is, are you alright with that...?"
"It's good that you discovered that dark-types suit you," the man commented with some envy. "As it happens, yes, mine were all dark by chance. Celty, Mairu, and Kururi were all given to me. All by females who aren't so fond of me, come to think of it..." he realized, trailing off for a second. But then he picked back up where he left off. "I'm beginning to think they're not suited to me, though, since I don't have a clue as to get them to do what I want half the time. Most of the time in the twins' case." He massaged his temples as if recalling the headaches those two inspired. "Nevertheless, it's my hope that I can learn from you how to control them someday. So it's kind of nice that they're your specialty."
Sensing what might have been unease and maybe a bit of tension in the air, Grunt Nakura cast Faleen what he meant to be a comforting grin. "Oh, don't worry. If you want to tell on me, feel free, but as I mentioned before, it's in my very best interests to remain in the protection of this organization. Besides," he said softly, "I trust you. Even if there were some unfortunate accident that caused me to have to part ways with Team Rocket, I wouldn't betray you guys. At the very least, it would be out of respect for certain individuals in this place if not the organization itself."
At Faleen's apology, her grunt partner giggled and patted her lightly on the back. He seemed to recognize the growing fatigue in both her voice and her behavior. "Don't worry about it. Thank you for being honest. That's the most I could ask of you."

There was a pause when a girl named Izumi was brought up, but it clicked once he mentioned a mechanical arm. That had certainly been something that had peaked Faleen's interest, and Izaya mentioning he knew where she worked at made then engineer in her very curious. "Yeah... Perhaps." She stated thoughtful, though the suggestion of her providing company for the other women passed her by with little consideration, the women wasn't a Rocket after all, and probably just as ignorant as the others. But who knew, maybe the women would be someone to consider working with them, if she was any good at what she did, then perhaps it was worth a look.
The explanation for the use of the word 'Chan' in front of a name was much more detailed then she had expected it to be, so much so that it had many different meanings. She was surprised that he seemed to be using something like that to refer to her, unless he was doing it to be mocking. She found either way she wasn't particularly upset or annoyed with it. "I see, that's interesting. Well, I can't say I'm bothered by it, so if that's what you prefer, I don't have any qualms." It probably meant more to him then it did to her at this point.
The Agent stared quietly at the odd tone Izaya had taken on the subject of assuming the worse in people. Watching him as he talked, and let a silence linger at the question that followed. "I don't think anyone has any other option. Especially here." she offered, though left it at that, seeming like she didn't have anything in particular to add to that subject.
Faleen gave a slight chuckle as he talked about his pokemon, she was alwasy pleased to hear that they were all dark types "Ah, they sound like typical Dark types." she added with a gentle grin. "I certainly wouldn't mind lending some of my experience, and now that we're partners, I suppose I have a personal investment in this as well." She was so grateful he had dark types, that she could help with.
Her smile became a little forced, then faltered a little in a mild, quiet look, like she was keeping what she was really thinking well concealed. He said he trusted her, it seemed strange... mostly becasue she found that she couldn't exactly say the same for him. The talk of him leaving Team Rocket for specific reasons was troubling. Even though she understood that there were things that the future could hold that make predicting what Rockets over all fate was difficult. The fact that he added his reluctance to betray them was added in there as well. This made her still uneasy, but for now she just tucked it away. If the time came when she had to deal with something like this again, she couldn't be surprised, but for now, she just had to do her job, and work with her partner.
He patted her, and thanked her, she wasn't sure what to do with it, but she gave a slight, amused smile anyway. "Well, I would say we're off to a better start then we really expected to be this morning. I believe I should be heading back to my room." shifting herself in her seat, and pushing to her boots, Faleen turned to face her Partner. "I enjoyed the talk, and I look forward to working with you, Izaya."

"I'm grateful to hear that," the man told Faleen at her offer of lending her experience with pokemon. "It'll be helpful to learn from someone who started from the bottom up. And my little monsters probably already have a better liking of you than me."
As the agent's smile appeared a little more forced, Izaya observed, but said nothing. He knew she was likely at conflict with what he had said, but if she truly had a problem with him, he was fairly certain she would confront him with them. At least prior to feeling like she had to go to a superior and tell them of his wavering loyalty.
Some part of him hoped his own interests would never clash with Team Rocket's. Or his new partner's. Still, only the future could decide that.
"I completely agree~" the grunt answered merrily. "Have a good night, Agent Faleen. And for what it's worth, I share the same sentiments." With a small, casual salute, the man cleared away the remains of the sushi packaging and headed off to his own room.
