"Just give the word, Boss." Before nodded, teal eyes darting from the wall to the floor to the napping demon on the couch. The petty, vindictive part of Before was tempted to "accidentally" jerk the couch in an attempt to knock the creature off. If Before can't relax, he might as well work his frustrations off. Tika's laugh nearly set him off but he was jumpy and tense and he knew it.
So he bit back a glower and instead turned to give Gale a hard stare. "You already almost died today. Twice if you count that," he gestured to the healed cut on the youngest Hunter's neck. "Don't push your luck."
He moved to stand beside Bix as he summoned his own weapon. "I'm mid to short range. Not strong enough to be a long ranger," he smiled ruefully.

She looked at Gale, and then at Before and Bix, before putting the pendent back around her neck; she didn't want anyone dying - including herself - needlessly, "I'll hang onto this for now then~" Tika's laugh would be met with a grin from her as she started to pace around; even with the demon asleep, they could not afford to lower their guard.
"So... Bix and Gale to guard the bait?" She motioned at Barth, "One of you will have to sit beside him and attempt to knock him out if he tries anything funny, and the pendent fails again." She stroked her chin thoughtfully, "Maybe shove him onto a rigged tile if you have to."
She paused, "I'm mid to close range... Hm, Bix, would you like to come up with a formation?" This room reminded her of one of those video games, and Bix seemed like the kind to play them regularly, "For the traps, they'll be placed down here-" She walked around the couch, stopping at the tile to the right of Barth, "One of us will have to stand here, and we shall have more traps set down here."
She pointed at the two tiles adjacent to her tile before pointing at the sleeping Barth - he was their bait, so those creatures would probably be heading for him, "Then again, depending on what Bix comes up with, we could alway move the traps around to have a higher capture chance. We could even try to lure them in..." That would be impromptu though.
"I think some of them can fly," She frowned, "I'll need you to do whatever necessary to take them down, to ground them. Destroy their wings if you have to. I think our superior had already told us, but it's us or them. No mercy."

Gale returned Bix's look with one of his own: You're being obtuse and irritating.
He turned to Before, glowering at the older one. "I am just fine," he said testily, his face flushing. The fact that his cut stung a little whenever he swallowed was completely beside the point.
Promptly turned his back on the both of them, Gale pulled the little metal box out of his bag. It was about the size and shape of a small cash box, weighing a little more than his own weapon.
<< You're acting like a four year old. >>
Shut up.
<< They're concerned about you. Be grateful. >>
If they were concerned about me, they'd give me some credit.
<< What are you, two? >>
Kindly leave me alone.
There was a flash of white light. The silver, rune encrusted ring on Gale's left index finger dissolved, the long, white rifle appearing instead. Picking it up in one hand, he crouched over the box, eying the traps.
"Where should I lay the first one?" he asked, then glanced over at the sleeping demon. "I'll set a few, then I'll stand guard over...that."

"Well.." Bix frowned a bit and looked at the layout of the room. He took the chance and walked across the empty floor, slowly in case of surprises, but found there to be none. He stood in front of the sleeping demon on the couch. "So Gale will stay on the couch.." He squinted. "And I'm in front of him."
His white haired head swiveled and he swept up his long braid to loop around his neck with his scarf. "We don't know what side they'll be coming from so it really may be best to all stick by the couch. At least until they show up. So I would say Before and Ariane maybe a few feet ahead, on the corners, and Tika.. you have those sweet blades so you need to get in their faces so, sorry, you'll have to be first!"
Bix plopped on the empty seat of the couch just for a second and tapped the end of his bow on the floor. He then got up and moved back close to his group. Just in case the demon was feigning sleep and listening.
He whispered to their huddled team. "Remember our goal is to catch them in the traps. So our attack should be more show, if possible. Weaken them but maybe let a couple past us. We WANT them to reach the couch and the traps."

"Hm, but standing in front would mean exposing your back to Mr Barth," She pointed at the sleeping demon, "And if you turn to face him, it would mean exposing your back to the enemy... Since we do not know where they would be coming from, it is best to not have your back exposed to anyone... So why not you stand here instead?"
She walked to the side of the couch and nodded, "I like the rest of your placement though - if everyone is fine with it, that's what we'll do, with Tika at the front followed by Before and myself, with Gale and Bix at the back." It was a logical placement, with at least one hunter guarding another teammate's back - Gale and Bix were kind of trapped by their placement, but at least there was no room behind the couch for someone to attack them from behind.
"If everyone is alright with this placement, Gale can start putting down the traps," She looked at their youngest member as well as the box he was currently holding in his hand before walking towards the group, "Memorize the placement of the traps! There should be minimum wastage." Besides, Clarice had said that the traps could harm them too - perhaps not enough to knock them out, but better safe than sorry.
Her voice lowered as she looked at Bix with a grin, "That's the plan." She almost felt proud of their team. Almost.

"Good call." Bix nodded. He didn't want that demon to wake up and give his back a claw. He didn't like the look of those hands and he didn't trust the scarves as restraint.
"Sounds good then. Soon as the traps are down, Ariane you have to make him yell for help. Remember Clarice said these things can hurt us too." he moved to his position and offered his hands out to set the two traps near him. He was essentially blocking himself in with them. Gale would be doing the same so he had to be careful of the order he put them down.
"Watch your steps when you fight guys." He and Gale wouldn't be moving at all with their backs to a wall and traps surrounding them completely. Bix gave Gale, Tika and Before an encouraging smile. It wasn't super encouraging, he still looked uneasy about the pendant, but he felt as solid as he could about their plan.

[THIS is what it looks like right now!]
She sighed, holding the pendent up with two fingers as she frowned, staring at the symbol on it, "If it fails again, I get this feeling we should make him cry for help ourselves." She didn't trust this pendent, not when there was the possibility of it breaking on them.
"Watch each other's backs and if you feel like you are about to pass out, give the command to go back to base camp," Her tone was firm, demanding, "If you don't, you are essentially forcing a teammate to teleport back with you. As you know, we are already outnumbered - there is no reason for us to make this any easier for them." She shot both Gale and Tika a look; the girl had done the right thing by moving Gale to safety earlier, but he was able to move and speak despite being hurt - he should have done it himself, "Understood? I do not want anyone endangering themselves or this team... As for a goal, we should at least trap four of those creatures, since that's how many there were in the last capture session."
She was sort of hoping they would appear, so that they could capture them again.
With a slight frown, she then lowered her voice, making sure that the demon would not be able to hear her, "I just had a thought - how are we supposed to lure them in when we have no room to back step? Ugh, maybe we should put the traps around us instead of just around our bait..." She gestured at the tiles on the floor in a T-shape.
"One here to prevent our bait from thinking he can just up and leave while the rest will give us moving space," She first gestured to the tile directly in front of Barth before moving over to where she saw herself standing, "With this arrangement, it gives us room to move and any creature that drops in on one of the unrigged tile would find themselves being attacked by at least two of us... Except for Tika, who will be protected by the traps anyway. Then again, it'll leave us pretty much cornered at this part of the room..."
Her frown deepened as she shrugged, "Let's vote then. Strategy one or two?"
[This is Ariane's new proposed thing; I just thought of it. OTL I'm so sorry.
But yeah, do vite ICly! *A*]

Before weighed both formations and both options silently in his head. It was a few moments before the Life Hunter trainee gave his opinion, "Going with Boss' idea. Our objective is to catch these things. We want to lure them them towards Private Ryan and I'd rather we take them out early."
He paused, brows suddenly furrowing, "Do we need to use ALL of the traps right now? 'Cuz you were worried about being able to move back but Tika's going to be boxed in."

Gale, unintentionally (or maybe it was intentional; one could not really tell) ignoring the rest of them, was still looking down at the traps with a scrutinizing expression on his face. His mind was lost in thought, eyes moving slowly from one tile of the floor to the next as he mapped out the placement from Ariane's words in his mind.
Straightening, he turned just in time to see the look on her face as she glared at him, and his own expression darkened significantly. The last thing he wanted was to be reprimanded by Ariane of all people, and he looked away from her, irritated by the insinuation.
<< This is proving to be more difficult than I originally thought. >> Jinhai said musingly, as Gale stooped, retrieving one of the traps from the box and holding it in one gloved hand. << But the idea is to capture the creatures, not kill them. Stay on guard and defend when needed. Do not be hasty. >>
"Who asked you?" Gale muttered waspishly to the rifle, then let his gaze move back to the rest of the group.
"Ariane's idea works better, trap wise," he said, glancing around the dull room, his eyes landing briefly on the still sleeping demon and wondering whether or not he was actually asleep or just faking. "But Before is right; do we want to leave Tika boxed in like that?"

Bix agreed about boxing Tika in. She was their close combat fighter and she should have room to walk around. "Well how about we move some.." Bix gave a brief explanation that ended up being this. "This way Tika is free to move, Before and Ariane you guys have lateral movement.. and since we don't know what side they are coming from, if they show up on our left or our right.. the couch is trapped on the sides." The albino hunter scratched his head. "Though we could talk about it all day. We don't know what's going to happen until we make up our minds."

Before re-envisioned Bix's proposal, "I believe this is the best one trap and maneuver-wise. But I also think we should save one of the traps as a precaution. Putting all our eggs in one basket doesn't sound appealing."

"Well I don't mind." Bix looked to the group. "That center one is as good as any. We may move on from here at some point and be able to trap then."
The albino hunter shrugged. "We should get the show on the road though.. " The longer they let that demon sit, the longer they weren't catching his friends. He also could be fake sleeping and formulating some sort of escape plan.

"The only problem with Bix's plan is that we won't be able to move in to help Tika if she was surrounded, since we would have to walk over the traps," She was sure there was no such thing as a perfect plan, but it would be good to cover all bases, "How about moving those two traps from there to there instead?" She pointed at the tiles beside the wall.
Looking at Before, she frowned, considering his suggestion, "Or we could remove those two completely and give them to two people? It requires the push of a button to activate, and we'll have a minute or two before it activates, but I am sure that we could activate it and quickly toss it on a target... Or toss it on the nearest tile."
She pinched the bridge of her nose before sighing in an exaggerated manner, "One last vote. And we set down the traps. Gale, get them ready."

"Do that." Bix nodded. Mostly it was because his brain hurt and he was having a hard time visualizing all of this since they'd changed the plan so many times. "The last one. Before can have one trap and I will take the other if no one objects?"
The albino hunter settled into his position and held out his hand. He was ready to go as long as everyone else was.

A cursory glance at the creature on the couch and Before's grip on his weapon instinctively tightened. There was no immediate mental apology for any rough handling of Vanna. Or any apology at all.
The weapon felt uneasy at the uncharacteristic silence of her partner. But she sensed pressing him for a reaction would not end well. And so, she stayed her hand and decided to continue supporting him as best as she could.
Go forth and, as you would say, "kick a**", Silly Before!
The corner of the Life Hunter trainee's lips twitched upwards minutely as he gave his teammates a nod. "Let's break their legs." If his attempt at riding on Bix's "show on the road" crack fizzled, Before wouldn't mind.
