As part of Romane's daily ritual ever since she lost a subordinate who she disliked enough but still trusted enough to order to get her coffee, the woman stopped inbetween her patrol to have a cup of coffee. Usually, Neil would accompany with her, but the man apparently was busy with some article or another. The man had grown far more busy ever since he started that online article website of his, but she didn't mind it – having more work was always a good thing in her eyes and she was very proud of her friend for becoming such a busy man! She had given him a nice, long pat on his head when he told her of it to show her appreciation, something she had carried over towards her companions ever since her dogs had died. She frowned at that memory, but ignored it when she entered the nice, cozy, but neutral looking shop. It had gotten many owners in the past few years, but none seemed to stick for very long, leaving it to often be owned by the mayor. She preferred it this way, to be honest – it was difficult handling a new owner and the lack of pointless decorations pleased her. Not to mention there was nothing confusing on the menu – just the simplest of coffee to choose from. Romane had went with the easiest of all – black coffee – and then left to a table beside a window to enjoy it silently while she watched the streets outside.

Romane wasn't the only one who's daily ritual consisted of coffee. In the morning rush that was to deal with the kids, a now town representative husband, and, her countless paperwork at work, coffee was what got her through the first hours of the day. Today however, was a slow day. She had managed a lot of her work the few days before, so she could afford to take the morning to herself. Besides Wilhelm was at school, and Rune was working on something for college. Yoakim was also off tending to town business. It was rather sad actually, to know that everyone else had things to do when you finally decided to take a few hours off. Eleanor wouldn't dwell on that long though, it wasn't healthy and it would have her staring at something depressed for a while. Least that's what her first therapist told her... She simply shook her head at the thought and scanned the menu, only to order what she always did. A small cup of coffee with a balancing amount of cream and sugar. Her plans weren't much more than to take a seat and enjoy the drink, but her eyes caught sight of a familiar redhead. It had been a while since she had talked to her, and besides... this place was a bit empty anyways. "Romane." For either reason, Eleanor found herself at the sheriff's table, offering a small smile. "Good morning. Would you mind some company?" Hey, it wouldn't kill either of them not would it?

The streets seemed pretty clear that morning – no one was out committing crime in plain view, at least. She was sure there was some kind of underground black market in which her young adulthood's enemies resided in, always waiting for their chance to strike amidst the sewers.. But, that was always on Romane's mind ever since her partner had died. She never saw the connection and she was sure everyone would tell her it was due to the loss of a friend, but she never took her intuition lightly. Not now, at any rate. She sipped at her slowly cooling coffee, keeping a keen watch on the outside – when a woman approached her table. She looked to see that Eleanor Vatonage – or, Eleanor LeBlanc now – had come to greet her. She frowned slightly – the two new eachother, yes, and she was never very angry with the woman.. She seemed like just another weak victim in her town, but.. the circumstances surrounding that label.. That made her unsure of how to feel for her for almost the last twenty years. That thought had her pausing, frowning even more – had it really been so long? She took another drink after nodding at Eleanor, no reason to tell her to leave. “Good morning, Mrs. LeBlanc. How is Rune?” She started with her usual question – her niece was often a concern of hers, especially with Yoakim being her father. She never did approve of that man.

Eleanor had returned the nod, taking the seat that faced Romane and settled her drink on the table for a moment. She followed the sheriff's gaze out the window, letting her mind linger for a moment. How long had it been since she stopped in this day-to-day rush? It had been a while... Her attention shifted back to Romane, meeting her hazel gaze to Romane's blue one. "She is well; a bit stubborn though I will blame teenage years on that" answered Eleanor before taking another drink. Her smile dissipated a bit at the thought. Teenage years... Oh she really didn't know what to blame it on. Had it been her fault after sitting her down and telling her? Or was Yoakim really being silly with... well everything? Maybe it had been both... or Rune didn't take it as well as she thought... The woman shook those thoughts out of her head and a small smile came over once more. "How's Mimi?" Granted Eleanor hadn't had the chance to meet the girl, or keep up with most gossip running around. She knew Romane had married, and had a daughter too. Oh she was so out of the loop, well she always had been, but now she actually had an excuse. Work, go figure.

Rune? 'A bit stubborn'? Romane frowned at that comment as she sipped at her coffee, frowning even more as she found it was growing cold faster than she liked. Then again, she noticed plenty of things were doing that for her, but that was another topic entirely. She was focused more so on Rune at that moment – her niece. She had concern for the girl based on how she acted whenever she happened to see her around Kip during her occasional visits to her brother.. which wasn't very large, to be honest. It was just the fact that Rune was hanging around Kip that it alarmed her. She didn't comment just yet, though, as Eleanor had gone to ask about her own daughter.

Whether this was a challenge or not, Romane wasn't sure and she wasn't going to take the chance. She set her cup down with a small clack and watched Eleanor closely for her reaction. “Mimi, while energetic, is well. She never disobeys and does all of her studies efficiently,” With coercion, true, but Romane didn't feel it necessary to add that. “I believe she will make an exceptional officer when she is of age.” Because Romane had already decided this. Mimi, of course, didn't mind at all and was rather excited about it, so there wasn't a problem that she saw. She picked her cup back up, unlacing her fingers to wrap them around the container, “Rune is likely in need of stricter discipline. I doubt Mr. LeBlanc has the capability of such a thing, however, and recommend you attempt to in his place.

With Romane as the mother, the woman really didn't doubt it. It wasn't to criticize her or anything but she was strict. Really strict, and the sheriff. Of course the girl would behave. Lucky her of course... Oh? Mimi would be an officer? That was nice. Though before she could ask about that, Romane spoke again. At that moment her cup was nearing her lips for another drink, and she thanked that because it hid the slight frown that came from those words. It was one thing to know it, it was another to have someone else confirm it. Eleanor didn't believe Rune needed that much more discipline, after all she was in school and she behaved well, for the most part. It was the part with Yoakim that was dead on. "Myself... Well she behaves pretty well with me. It's Yoakim that she's been having trouble with..." trailed off the woman, organizing her thoughts in her head. They just butted heads, but neither had actually stopped to talk. Not that they would, for not being blood related they could be equally stubborn. "I worry if we become too strict it would backfire on us. And there's really not much reason to be iron-clad with her after all." Though she did wish the girl would stop leaving whenever she got mad...

Of course Rune behaved well with Eleanor; the woman likely had no rules whatsoever. Eleanor always seemed lost in her own mind half the time – out of touch with the world, whether it was through studying or art or whatever it was the woman occupied her head with. Everything but the important things in the world, such as making sure Rune would grow up to be a proper young woman that didn't disobey her parents. “Ignoring her father's orders is reason enough to be 'iron-clad', Eleanor.” She replied with a small frown; Romane would never dream of disobeying her father and she doubted she would even now, if that man was still alive.

However, you are not required to be extremely strict with her; some mild punishments would be satisfactory.” Such as grounding her for a year and shredding all of her less than pleasing clothes. “Whatever it is you do, I recommend it be done immediately. She is nearly a legal adult and you will have no authority over her whatsoever when this occurs.” But, perhaps that wouldn't be a bad thing.. Once Rune was an adult, it would be Romane's duty to take care of her – like she took care of all of Nirvani. Yes, Rune would be the first on her watch list – and, soon, on Mimi's as well. Mimi did need more to do than just watch Julian, after all..

Well she had rules... well... it was best to not even try to change Romane's thinking... because Eleanor certainly wasn't the most focused of civilians around. That comment was met with a visible frown from Eleanor. She didn't think it was that much of a reason for it... "...Well, what would you recommend?" asked the woman, taking another drink of her almost half-empty drink. Yoakim was a lost cause, and really Ellie wasn't that much better in exerting authority. Channeling her parents wasn't a great help, considering Rune was behaving exactly like she did before-Well. That gave her comfort in asking her. Then again, she was slightly regretting asking Romane's advice... She was speaking to the woman who's actions on the town are terrifying, yet remarkable. "That isn't... too extreme of course." It was best to clarify that from the start... There was a reason why people were wary of her...

Romane gave Eleanor a quizzical look at that last comment, for once uncertain as to what to say to her. She was at first mildly surprised that Eleanor would even ask her for advice, let alone with a serious tone as if she would honestly consider it. But.. what would be considered too 'extreme'? Romane wasn't going to ask the woman to shoot Rune or something like that – Eleanor knew that, correct? If Romane used bullets as a form of punishment, she wouldn't have any living children to this day. Or.. husbands, for that matter. She took a sip of her coffee, the liquid cold by this point but Romane wasn't one to waste drinks. Especially not coffee. “...Community service during the weekends and after school. Does Rune have a job as of now? She certainly has time for working if she is only a student. The less time she has free, the less time she has to think about disobeying or finding friends of a deviant nature.” That was why Mimi and Julian would be forced to get a job as soon as they were of legal age. ..That did remind her; she had forgotten to look into community service work for Julian. He was thirteen now.

...That... was a lot less severe than what Eleanor expected Romane would say. Or maybe the woman was exaggerating on her opinion of the other... Nah. "That... could be an option. But I'm not sure about having her work just yet. I want her to focus on her studies for now" replied the woman, taking a last sip of her drink. It had grown cold, and unlike Romane, the woman was fine with leaving some behind. Now about Rune... Ellie didn't want to put pressure on the girl. Goddess knows she had dealt with pressure back when she was studying and it was no easy task. Of course it was the girl itself that added pressure but still... Eleanor drifted off in thought for a moment, finally meeting Romane's gaze. "Well I'll keep it in mind, perhaps see what Yoakim thinks on it. How has your work been lately?" It certainly was different to have her in charge on a lot of things... One would've thought she would've gone power-mad, but it had been the opposite.

Could be an option? Romane frowned at that; she didn't just give advice out to pepole like Eleanor with the intention of it just being considered. Romane had long grown used to her orders being followed by her officers and considering Eleanor was simply a civilian.. It displeased her that the woman wouldn't agree immediately. She ignored that thought for now, however, and simply focused on finishing her coffee while Eleanor did the same. She paused in this action as the woman had to bring Yoakim in on it. Ah, of course. Always relying on the pathetic husband. And people wondered why Romane thought so little of most women in town. She looked back into Eleanor's eyes and replied rather blandly to the woman, “Work has and will continue to be at it's most productive under my guidance.” She didn't see why that shouldn't be obvious, but, oh, well, Romane enjoyed to tell others of her success as sheriff. Still, work reminded her that she hadn't come in for a lengthy chat. She was here in the midst of her patrol, something that was being stalled. She frowned at herself as she suddenly stood up, giving a small nod towards Eleanor, “I will be taking my leave now. Good day, Eleanor.” With that, she threw her empty disposable cup out and left the woman to finish up alone.

"Of course" said Eleanor as Romane left. It hadn't been that long a conversation, but one could say this was a grand improvement from their first interactions. They differed on a lot of things... actually just about everything. But well that was the story of her life, most of her acquaintances were very different from her. Of course having an eighteen year old had that effect, most just had kids, or none. She'd have to see how Zelynity was doing, now that she thought of that last thing. Then again the woman was a child herself... Eleanor merely shook her head at the thought and stood up, getting rid of her own cup and leaving the coffee shop shortly after. Might as well see if she could finish some work, if she was going to spend the rest of the morning doing nothing. Maybe even think on that option...

Zelynity had already found the perfect table in the back corner, so she could be secluded with her date. She was getting old, after all. The fact that she had never even had a boyfriend since she was here was becoming a lot more apparent as she grew older. Aging didn't bother her at all, she thought she was looking great for being thirty. But, the loneliness was growing more and more, especially since she lived with two lovebirds. She hoped this Levi character would at least be close to dating potential. She sipped her mocha latte and reminisced on her first White Day date. That had found her the wonderful job that she still had to this day. That gave her a bit of hope.

Levi was rather excited for his little date tonight. He didn't really get many chances to get away from work to have fun. And boy did he love fun. That's why he took extra care to dress up tonight. Maybe a little to much. But, it had been a long time since he had been on a date. What if the dress code changed? And even more so, what if this islands culture was a bit different? He didn't know. So he had to play it safe! Which is why as he arrived at the coffee shop, he was dressed in black dress pants, a nice button down shirt and long trench coat. Almost like business attire really, but he felt it looked nice. He hoped it looked nice. He had checked his appearance in multiple reflective surfaces on his way here. And since he actually just arrived, he no longer had a chance to fix anything. That thought made him a bit nervous. Since when were dates this nerve wracking? He took a deep breath and looked to the back where he saw a woman sitting alone. Hopefully it was the one he was looking for. He walked up and examined her a bit, she was very attractive. "Zelynity?" He asked with a wide friendly smile. He had hoped it was, he didn't want to be in one of those awkward situations.

Zelynity had been eying everyone who came into the coffee shop, so the dark-haired male had already caught her attention before he even began to walk her way. She couldn't deny that she felt rather excited when he spotted her; he was much better than the NPCs who had been walking through. She was trying to not make her happiness seem too obvious, so she sipped her drink in anticipation. There was a small pessimistic side of her that kept envisioning him making a sharp u-turn right before he got to her table. She perked up when he approached the table and smiled at him. "Levi?" Sure, it was kind of stupid since he was obviously her date or he wouldn't know her name. But, it was probably the investigator in her that made her want to be sure he wasn't here to arrest her or something. She couldn't resist looking him up and down as she awaited his response. He really wasn't that bad which made her mentally cross her fingers that he was her date.
