they;re real good!
i can never get the clarity contrasting the blurring in my pictures which is an effect i really like
i was quite happy with one pic i did... i think i have it on the web somewhere
i'll upload it once ui do more work and have more stuff to show

i can never get the clarity contrasting the blurring in my pictures which is an effect i really like


I'm not a photographer or anything but is it considered cheap and/or cheating to do that on photoshop?

i wouldnt quite call it cheap ..
but it wont look ar realistic as a real photo ..
in a real photo there is no quality loss from blurred backgrounds ..
if it is photoshopped ... if you are really pro .. you might be able to get a similar effect ..
but its always best to get it right when ur shooting the photo

If you look at these photos .. it would be difficult to achieve this sort of look by modifying a sharp photo of the same stuff..

i like the one with the uh... is it a stone ledge or step??
i like how it doesnt just have the foreground and background divided straight and obvious
it kinda works back to theb blurred background
...or maybe advances forward to the sharp focused foreground

yeah .. i just got a really shallow depth of field ....
i love depth of field.. creates good contrast..
i just got a priome lens with a better appeture rating ..so it should be able to get much better depth of field now ..

i love the contrast of this particular image and the almost surreal colors that come from the effect. the overall brightness is very very cool. ^.^

A couple images from my gallery, thought I'd post them here. Taken at around 11,000 feet in New Mexico. I was backpacking and had the foresight (finally!) to take along my camera. Fun fact: Those aspens are about 100 feet/30 meters tall. Part of a stand of hundreds...
