Lydia smiled sheepishly, seeing the trail without the aid of the spell. "The spirits called... So I came. That night they seemed more restless than usual, and I see that it might've been the spirit that took your sister." She shivered involuntarily, feeling a cold tingle down her spine. "This forest is filled with spirits... We must be careful." she whispered, knowing that the spirits could understand Lydia's words.

He stopped walking and looked back at Lydia with a serious face. He was having a hard time accepting this person. He was are purifying the spirits with his sister and she comes out to save us?! There are many motives she could have. "What are you?" he asked "How do you know of the spirits in these woods?"

She knew that Yori probably didn't trust her, and she didn't blame him. Lydia was only a stranger to him. "I'm Lydia... I'm a human like you, but I can speak with the spirits. That's why I have to save your sister, because I can. I never wanted to speak with the dead, but if it will save someone's life, then there is a purpose. If you do not wish for me to come with you, I'll go about on my quest alone." she explained. Her voice didn't falter, because she knew that Yori wanted to save his sister too.

Yori turned to look at the trail in front of him "No, i don't mind you traveling with me, if anything you would be of use..." He said trailing off and abruptly starting to walk; following the trail. "If you could tell me what they're saying that would be great. I know good spirits that live in this area and can help us continue on the trail if we lose it."

She smiled softly at him, nodding. "If there is a friendly spirit it will know to tell me... and I will say out loud what it speaks. Right now, I only hear woeful moans and cries from the spirits, as they haven't ascended yet. They want to rest, but cannot." she looked down sadly, continuing to walk. "I want to help them somehow..."

Yori nodded, showing that he heard her and understood. "We can't help all of them. Besides i only help them when they attack me. It shows that they've finally had enough."

Lydia nodded, "That's true enough. I used to have one spirit all to myself, when I was young... It seemed to like me quite a bit, following me wherever I went. Finally, it got tired of me, and tried to kill me one night in my sleep. I sent it to where it belonged, knowing from then on not to trust the spirits. They change with time..." she explained quietly, although she doubted Yori wanted to hear stories of her past.

Yori chuckled "That sounds similar to my childhood...except they would always possess me and tease my sister. It was fun until they all snapped."

She nodded, smiling softly, "I'm a bit let down that they all became so hostile... I wonder if there's a connection..." she trailed off, doubting her own idea. She looked at the trail. wondering how far the spirit would travel... and why would it want Yamato?

Yori stepped jumped over a log and continued walking "It's a possibility that the two events are connected, but there are too many reasons to start deducting them." He said as he stopped for a moment. there was a 'fork' in the forest, suggesting two directions. Yori started walking again once he the spirits trail came into focus. "Tch, the path is getting harder for me to see, it's starting to fade." he said and then thought 'we just started and we're having problems already?!' he tightened his hand into a fist out of frustration 'calm down Yori.' he thought to himself 'we can't start attracting spirits.' he sighed and stopped walking.

Lydia looked at Yori with a raised eyebrow, but she stared at the thinning trail ahead. "This is not a good sign..."

Yori gripped his staff, his eyes watering and he began to run. He hoped that if he ran fast enough that the trail would stop fading and he would be able to save his sister, but as he saw the trail getting harder and harder to see his hopes were trashed. Once there was no sign of the trail he started crying "it's all my fault..." He began "After all that training i can't even protect my little sister." he slumped and sat, his back against a tree.

Lydia frowned, running to catch up to Yori. "Don't think so badly of yourself, Yori... it wasn't your fault." she said quietly, sitting down on her knees next to him. She gently patted his back, hoping to help him feel better somehow.

He tried to stop crying and told himself 'come on, if you don't man up now then you'll lose her forever.' with that he wiped away his tears, still breathing unevenly from crying. He felt bad, but hoped that traveling with Lydia would help make him stronger. he attempted a smile "Thank you." He stood up not knowing what to do "I guess we'll keep walking in the general direction. Maybe we'll find help."
