"I haven't really had many dealings with them," he said warily. The pride really didn't have very many non-lions. A cheetah, a leopard, and a hybrid, all thralls. "I think there's only one in the pride, and she's a thrall."
Odd looked at Pur, his dark golden eyes studying her carefully. She wasn't one of the pride, and although this part of the forest did not typically have many patrols through it, he was reluctant to bring her any closer to the pride. Not being as ignorant of her as he was. She was Herryk's little stalker. He really wasn't sure he ought to do more than he had done already, or get to know her any better, until he knew what Herryk wanted done with her.
"I can show you," he said after a few moments of reflection. "But I can't stay to show you how to climb it. It will be more meaningful for you, perhaps, if you figure it out for yourself. And also, I have some other places to be this day."
He dropped from the tree to the ground. It wasn't as graceful a movement as some others would have made it, but he did not stagger or stumble. And he was grateful for that. It would have been sort of embarrassing and awkward had he done so. One thing he knew for a fact was that he did not at present wish to make a poor impression on the unknown factor that was Pur.
"Come. This way," he said, setting off in the direction of an easier tree.

"Makes sense," Pur said with an enthusiastic nod.
It was better for her to figure it out on her own that for him to show her. After all, up to this point she had to figure things out on her own. She had to learn to hunt on her own, swim on her own, dig on her own, scent mark on her own. The only thing she could never learn to do on her own was to fight, and even than, given her petite size, she probably would be no good at it.
"I've had to learn everything else on my own since Lajos and I managed to escape her," Pur said. The obvious 'her' being her mother, "And we were juveniles than. I should be able to learn to climb a tree on my own."
Although Odd was doing his best not to get involved with Pur as best he could, in her mind he was already judged and she was already thinking of ways ot repay the kindness he'd shown her to this point. to her he seemed like such a nice lion, and even though he was skeptical of her claims (and she didn't feel it wrong for him to feel that way), she hoped he would reciprocate those feelings one day in the future. He seemed like good company.
She followed, humming a tune as they walked. She made sure to take in the path they were taking and any scent or visual markers. She did not want to get lost and not find her way back to the den. Herryk would be so mad with her than.

"I should think so," Odd agreed, trying not to think too hard on Pur's unusual family dynamics. He had never heard of a family like hers, and he didn't like the feeling of pity it generated in him.
When Odd came to a tree that he thought would be simple enough for a neophyte climber to manage he stopped and sat back on his haunches, waiting for Pur to catch up. He didn't mind that she hummed as they walked, but it was unnecessary noise. Odd wasn't one to make noise like that. None of the family was. It would be interesting to see how Herryk felt about that.
"Here we are," he said, and then had to stop himself from offering her any advice on how to ascend. She would have to figure it out for herself. It was part of life. Birds learned to fly, cubs learned to hunt, and apparently lionesses learned to climb trees.
"And here I leave you. It was interesting meeting you."
