Fallen_Syrien It maybe the wrong musical, but Sarah brightman performed it in Bejing for this years new year's celebrations. Thus it can be connected to PotO. (I know, I connect things strangely...) Homigosh I totally pride myself on being able to connect almost anything to PoTO. My favorite is being able to connect Willy Wonka with PoTO.
Okay *sucks in breath* here it goes.
Gene Wilder staring in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory quoted the line "We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams" when Veruka Salt mocked him on licking snozzberries (during the lickable wallpaper scene).
That line as actually the first line of O'Shaugnessy's poem entitled "Ode"
O'Shaugnessy was a contemperary mentioned in James Joyce's "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" when talking about test scores.
Within that same scene James Joyce also mentioned Goethe.
Goethe wrote the play Faust.
Faust was turned into an opera.
and that opera is the main opera featured in *drum roll* Phantom of the Opera ^.^ heart

Good God, RDS. O_o Is it your brain is that wonderful or your time is far too unoccupied by anything else?
We actually had a discussion on Goethe in English just last week. I must've screamed over and over because I love Faust, both Opera and (epic poem?) book story thinger. Which I have somewhere. Like... two copies. o_o

Like... two copies. o_o I actually own the version of Faust where it's German on one side and English on the other...I'm not sure how much the German actually helps O.o but it's damn kewl heart and it's actually featured, the last act of the first part, in our world literature book we have in AP English (hells yeah)! but I don't think our English class will ever discuss it T.T
but actually I've loved Willy Wonka/Gene Wilder since forever and I love that quote so I found out where it was from and we read James Joyce in English class so...that connection comes from a lifetime of love and labor.

My copy of the Divine Comedy is like that. Latin on the left, English on the right. My copy of Faust is straight up English, though. But it's still loved. XP Though I'm not so sure I should have it touching that piece of crap book "You Are Not Alone"...

I listen to it alot, I tried listening to it while reading PotO... doesn't change anything unfortunately

...What's so special about making weird connections to things? I do it all the time. It annoys the hell out of everyone I know.
I can make so many connections to PotO, it's not even funny. I wouldn't know where to begin if you paid me, I have so many.
You're not alone, RDS, you're not alone.

Alexis Of Shadow You're not alone, RDS, you're not alone. God helped you to show me (err....)*cough*
OMG *is uber jelouse of BakaTulip* I want to listen to the opera so bad! I found this delicious version on Amazon with the entire opera and a list of all the lyrics (so I could them semi-translated and understand what they're saying...semi....understand) but it's like $50 *is poo' *
Reading the play would probably help you connect it to the book more than the opera, they obviously chose the story specifically becuase of it's ability to compare Faust to the phantom and Marguerite to Christine...sort of.
I still have to read some literature on Don Juan although I get the cruel concept of alluding to him gonk and listen to Othello...while I've been semi-reading Shakespeare's Othello on and off for about a year now.
*Also has Dante's divine comedia* I'm currently on the Purgatorio *has been on it for over three months* I draw more than I read gonk

Red_Death_Stalking I honestly have NO idea gonk I know next to nothing about Rocky Horror picture show, in fact I haven't even seen it *prepares self to be beaten* O_O........... Here's the first verse/chorus theme song... Quote: Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still But he told us where we stand And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear Claude Raines was the invisible man Then something went wrong for Fay Wray and King Kong They got caught in a celluloid jam Then at a deadly pace it came from outer space And this is how the message ran: Science Fiction - Double Feature Dr. X will build a creature See androids fighting Brad and Janet Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show. It's so distracting... I go through my list of phantom philms I've seen... the second I think Claude Raines.... was the invisible man... it's quite distracting... And you must see the movie... nothing funnier than seeing Tim Curry in drag.
