The story was strange.. detailed and awkward in just the way that it made no sense that he would make something like it up. So for the most part her weariness and defensiveness had faded. It was hard to think ill of Howl anyway... the young man who'd been nothing but nice to her ever. Who had taken her to her senior prom. His words had always been gentile and it was hard to think his 'self' as a whole could be anything other than that either.
She didn't try to stop him from taking it again, hands only parting and falling to her side once the starseed was closed into his again. His information on the fate of it's source dropped in her stomach much like a rock, her frown still quite heavy. Well then.. there was no drawn out task of trying to find it's owner and give it back. It just was what it was... another innocent life lost for no reason.. no reason apparently except a sick game for some negascum. Her hands balled momentarily in frusteration before loosening once again hopelessly.
His claim of sentimentality received a quick and fierce sudden shake of the head from her, the edges of her lips finally creeping up enough for just the subtlest hints of a smile. "No... that actually sounds wonderful."
"The negaverse just uses starseeds for their own devices. Powering whatever it is they power... I've even seen them just... eat them. Just take someone's life force out and eat it for a little boost in energy. The utter disregard for life.." There was a disgust on her face as the words slipped out, but she tried her best to shake it away as she shook her head.
"It deserves respect and care. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be wonderful. As long as it's kept from the negaverse."
The sublties of Howl's trembling might have been lost on her as her attention had been so focused on the subject at hand, but even if it had been.. it had not escaped her subconcious. Ever so lightly her fingers wrapped around his, giving him a soft squeeze of reassurance.

Now that he knew what the object was, it felt odd to simply put the starseed in his pocket. It felt almost degrading to put a person's soul in his pocket as if it were a common trinket meant to gather lint. So instead, he drew the hand to his chest, holding it almost above his own heart.
The vivid descriptions Miss Polaris gave him most certainly seemed to stir up some sort of emotions in his heart. "All I have heard and seen of the Negaverse... there is no doubt they are an absolutely disgusting lot of individuals. Do they view themselves as so much better that they have the right to treat life in such a careless manner?"
He wasn't expecting any answers to his questions. He was merely asking for the sake of asking. There was one question that did need answering though.
"Miss Polaris... might I ask how you knew my name? Is this not the first time we have met?"

She of course agreed. The negaverse was dispicable. His question though of course didn't have an easy answer. A hand lifted to her head lightly, rubbing the heel lightly against the side of her forehead as she thought. "Misguided tends to be the term of choice... They seem to think that us senshi are aliens hellbent on taking earth from them.. or something equally strange." Really to her it had always seemed like babbling the strange justifications she heard slung a her.
"But on that note they are willing to use people like harvestable livestock. Whereas the senshi just... kill those monsters and save civilians whenever possible... It's hard to believe that they don't realize they're the ones in the wrong but..." Her shoulders shrugged upwards.
"Oh that.." The use of his name had been defensive.. something she'd done quickly and without too much thought. Now that the question had been risen though.. Well.. the best she could do was answer vaguely... very vaguely.
"We have met before, but you wouldn't recognize me now.. it's some sort of magic. I'm just someone you've been kind to in the past. All of us, senshi.. negaverse.. we all have normals faces and normal lives too outside of our duties. Even your teacher or your very best friend.. they might be roaming around fighting monster by moonlight."

A dodger could spot when someone else was dodging a question. Being notorious for dodging personal questions with a sort of well practiced ease, it was not hard for him to notice that Miss Polaris was giving him a very run-around response. Could he blame her? Not really. Considering all of the bad press the senshi had, it would not be something that most people would openly confess to being.
Respectfully, he offered a simple "All intriguing information, Miss Polaris. I thank you."
He smiled faintly before adding his own compliments into the mix. "I imagine you must be quite kind too, Miss Polaris, as whoever you are under the magic." Signaling that he was ready to part ways, he extended a hand to her once more.

She was thankful he didn't press it any further then he did, bowing her head a little in soft gratefulness, a sea of messy braids swallowing her shoulders in the action.
And finally amid all the frowns and somberness.. a genuine smile crept onto her face with his compliment. It was nice when she really could help.. and when people knew that she was 'the good guy'.. well that always felt really nice too.
If they lingered too long they'd surely be found, or he'd ask more things that she couldn't or shouldn't answer. So when he made a motion towards parting ways she didn't fight it, offering her hand once more in what was a growing routine. A very nice routine, nonetheless.
"Take good care of yourself. Try to keep away from those monsters and their handlers, alright?"

Once more his lips gently pressed upon the girl's gloves, and he had satisfactorily said his goodbyes. "I will do what I am able," he said with a nod. Casually, he made certain his hair was in proper place with a gentle sweep of his hand through the long strand that served as his bangs, then he began his departure.
No longer could he continue on with this day, seeking a job as if it was the most important thing in the world. No. Today, he had the duty of sending a soul off into whatever existed past death.
