He made certain to close her door which was a little difficult since he was hanging on to her legs so that she didn't slip down. He managed it, though, and they were soon outdoors. He turned left just as she said, traipsing along with a most serious expression on his face. Herryk kind of got the feeling that Freya wasn't sure where they were going either, but he wasn't going to worry about it.
"Does Freya like foxfires?" The question was idly asked. Herryk was very fond of them, and it seemed a safe enough topic, much safer than touching, for one.

"Yay!" She was excited as soon as they were on the move, even though she was sure they weren't headed anywhere specific. Still, adventure! She bounced in place, looking behind her up at the reaper dorms to make sure no one was watching them from any windows. No one named Hel, especially. Then she turned around, accidentally got some of Herryk's hair in her mouth, and made several silly sounds trying to get it out.
"Foxfires? Ja, I LOVE foxfires!" Not in the way Herryk meant, of course, but.. "They are so softs, the softest things ever. I likes to cuddle in their fur. How come? Do yeh likes them too?" She bent her head down and buried her face in his cape. "Yeh likes soft things, hah?"

For the first time during this current encounter, Herryk's eyes brightened. Sure, Freya wouldn't be able to see his expression, but his voice made his glee obvious enough.
"Oh yes," Herryk nodded, "Herryk loves foxfires. He has a Nanna, and Nanna has wings. Skalla and Shiva and Hanna and Ingrid and Magga and Martta and Freyja and Dagny and Brigga and Arya and Signy are all of Herryk's foxfires." He laughed softly, "Herryk would never tell any of the others that Nanna is his favorite, but she is." His voice took on a dreamlike quality when he spoke next.
Foxfires, all day, every day.
"They are so soft and nice, and Herryk is very gentle with them because they are very breakable." He shrugged, grinning over his shoulder at her, "soft things are nice." Freya's hair, for example. And her skin, too. And her --
"Where should Herryk go now?"

Freya had gone quiet for a moment, and she had lifted her head to watch Herryk while he talked about his foxfires. He was smitten. He looked like a scareling with a fresh bag of trick or treat candy. He loved those foxfires fiercely.
And she was jealous.
Except.
"Wait. Did you says one of your foxfires is names Freyja?" She asked, her voice a little scratchy. She cleared it, and repeated herself. "Freyja? That is my name in my home tongue. Freyja. In fact.." When she really thought about it, she was starting to come to a very strange conclusion. "All the names you has said, they are names I has heard. Herryk, are you also a Norwegian creation?"
Their destination suddenly became the last thing on her mind.

Herryk paused and grunted. "Yes. Freyja." He craned his neck to peer at her over his shoulder once more. He looked curious, one brow raised in question. The second brow lifted before both drew down in a frown as he turned his attention forward again.
"Herryk doesn't know. There are things that are familiar to Herryk - like the ladynames he gives his foxfires, and even Freya and her sister." He shrugged.
"Herryk's runestones, too, are familiar, but he does not know what they say. Herryk's friend Lattice is going to help him, she said. She is a good friend. She is also going to help Herryk find some clothes that fit because she has a seamstress friend."
He fell silent, glancing around. Giving Freya's legs a quick squeeze as he readjusted her position on his back, Herryk started moving again.

Freya craned her head to look at the runes, which she had not previously taken a good look at because it meant staring at his chest. His chest was very distracting. Even now it tried to pull her attention away. She focused hard on them, and set her finger on one.
"Thurisaz." She muttered darkly. "That ones, it means Thor. Ja, yeh're Norwegian all right. Or, well I guess yeh cans be something similar, but - we grew up learning the Germanic alphabet." She squinted at the other two, and a blush kissed her cheeks. "Except I wasn't payings much attention during classtimes. Papa would yell a lot, and says things. But ja.. this one, it's Thur. Thor." She spat out the last word, clearly disgusted with the word.
Her entire mood lifted when she realized that Herryk had mentioned Lattice. She crawled up higher, barely keeping herself contained. "Yeh knows Lattice?! Lattice is my very favorite! She is the nicest, I loves her!" She sighed wistfully. "So different from my sisters. She's gentle, and she doesn't always want to fights with me. I am glad for this because she would skewer me lots, and I would bleed and die, hah. But you knows Lattice too!" Freya smacked Herryk on the shoulder in a friendly manner. "I guess you do has good taste, Herryk!"

Herryk couldn't really show his gratitude at Freya's knowledge of his runes. There really was no way of explaining exactly how much it meant to him that she'd been able to even give him the slightest bit of information about the stones he wore across his chest. "Thor," he repeated, glancing down at the stone that she pointed to. He wondered what it meant, and made a mental note to see if Lattice could figure anything out when they met next.
Almost tripping when Freya clambered further up his back, Herryk gave a warning squeeze to the backs of her thighs. "Careful now," he said quietly before responding to her question.
"Herryk gave Lattice his cape," he nodded happily, his mood lifted now after gleaning the slightest bit of information about his rune stones. He could carry Freya around all day now, that's exactly how thrilled he was. "Herryk and Lattice met at the maul when Herryk was looking for clothes. Lattice knows a seamstress and she is going to help Herryk find clothes that fit." He cleared his throat, "Lattice is a good friend. How did Freya meet Lattice?" He was genuinely curious -- the two were like fire and ice, really, and trying to picture them getting along kind of ... broke Herryk's brain.

There was a strange, and completely unwanted feeling when Herryk shared the bit about Lattice receiving Herryk's cape. She actually refused to acknowledge the twang of jealousy, because this was Lattice, and also why should she care? She felt.. kind of empowered by the fact that she refused to get irrational about it. It was a first for her.
She was proud.
"Clothes, hah? What, I thoughts yeh like walking around showing off the meats." She patted Herryk's chest twice just as a joke, but it was really hard to pull her hand away. Really hard. Kind of awkward, how slowly she managed to do it. She was really terrible at subterfuge. "Uhhh, so. Lattice." Right. They were talking about Lattice. Focus. "She came to my dorms, because she heard me sing, and wanted to hear more. I loves Lattice. She is likes to me a sister. I would gives my bloods for her just as I woulds Hel."
These last words were said with a familiar tone, but one Herryk had never heard. It was the voice of a valkyrie, proud and true. She hadn't spent a lot of time with Lattice, but the time had been well spent, regardless. And now, she wouldn't hesitate before fighting for the ghoul.

Herryk snorted, giving the topic of 'showing off the meats' a wide berth; however, he did peer down at that pale hand, watching as it slowly, slowly withdrew. How... tingly. Herryk did not understand what was going on here, but clearly it was a new and strange feeling that he didn't feel comfortable exploring.
Yet.
"Yes, Lattice is a very dear friend, she is very sweet to Herryk," he remarked absently, still more than slightly distracted by the way Freya's hand had felt against his chest. He would have to ask Lattice about that too, when next they met, because it was utterly baffling to Herryk.
"Herryk would like to hear Freya sing someday," he said idly, glancing around to take in their surroundings. Yeah, there were no lobsters to be found here. He wasn't even sure what a lobsters looked like.

Freya's happy, fierce contentment shattered like glass when he mentioned singing. "No, yeh don't wants to hear meh sings. It.. it'll make yeh sad. Wouldn't want to make yeh sad, Herryk." If her voice had, maybe, just a wee bit less Fear in it, she probably would have enjoyed singing in public. She used to, in fact. Until that one, poor little ghoul.
"I tries not to sings out loud, just in case. When Lattice caught me, I was in my dorms, and I didn't realize how thin the walls were. I would feels bad for my neighbors, except my only neighbor right now is Hel! And she doesn't get sad when I sings."
She felt the surge of desire for a new topic overtake her, and looked around quickly. "Ah, maybe if we goes that way, down the roads to where those shops are, we finds a place for eating?"

Herryk grunted, smart enough to know that her abrupt change of topic probably meant that she didn't want to talk about her singing voice. She was probably embarrassed she had a terrible voice, and that he would be sad because it hurt his ears. Not a very bright boil, poor Herryk. He was still unfamiliar with many of the various races that called Halloweentown home, and because of this he really didn't realize that her voice would sadden him because it was laced with fear.
Besides, it felt like they'd been walking forever.
"Herryk bets Freya has a beautiful voice," he grunted again, speaking under his breath. He tried to say it quietly so that she didn't hear him, but because of their close proximity it was likely that she had.
Turning to face the direction of the shops, Herryk trudged along.
"Freya is lucky to have a sister as nice as Hel," Herryk said over his shoulder, readjusting his hands on her legs. "Hel is very nice and pretty too."

"Yeh would win that bet." Freya barked out in a laugh, ruffling his hair playfully. "My voice is very nice. Just. Makes people sad to hears it. Don't know if I can explains. Maybe one day when you breaks my heart I sing and makes you just as sad, ja?" She laughed and pointed in another direction. "Let's try that, it looks promising."
It didn't.
"Hel is best sister. She is my life, I wills to die for her. Always. When did you first meets Hel?"

Herryk chuckled, heading over to the shop she'd indicated. Where Freya wanted to go, Herryk would take her. He did say in a solemn soft voice, "Herryk would never break Freya's heart." That didn't sound too pleasant.
"Herryk met Hel at Terror Warrior," he grinned, shaking his head. "That was the first and only time, but it did not take long for Herryk to realize what a nice ghoul she is when he met her." She had, after all, calmed Freya after he'd made the blunder of calling Hel Twotone.
Drawing closer to the shopfront, Herryk paused so that Freya could see if she wanted to stay there or not. It didn't matter if she did or not. At this point Herryk was only worried that her legs might getting sore from their position on either side of him.
"Does Freya like what she sees here?"

"Haha, we'll see, we'll see." She put her chin up on the top of his head, glaring down at the shopfront critically, but even as she tried to decide if this was the one, she continued the chat merrily.
"Oh! That was the first times yeh mets her? Here I thought my sister had met everyone in the schools already. Very friendly. She gets all the friends." Freya's voice did not sound upset at this notion, there was only fondness when she spoke of Hel. "But yes, she is very nice ghoul."
She turned her head to look at Herryk, instead of the shop, when he asked her the question. Those blue eyes narrowed mischievously, and she was clearly about to be a little flirting brat. "Hah.." She snickered, taking the question completely inappropriately. "Freya likes. Freya likes very much."
Stop being terrible please, Freya.
"Oh, and the shop looks okays too!"
Terrible.

Herryk stood very still once Freya rested her chin on his head. He was quickly becoming accustomed to how hands-on she was. Touchy-feely. It still made his stomach flippy-floppy, which utterly confused him, but it wasn't so bad. Almost tickly. He hoped Lattice would have some insight on that. She was a ghoul, too, and one he trusted.
"Freya is being silly," Herryk grinned. He was glad that they'd finally found a destination. He didn't really mind being Freya's personal mode of transportation, he'd decided. It wasn't so bad once he decided to ignore the fluffy feeling in his belly. Maybe he really should go see Nurse Cricket.
"Is Freya hopping off now?" If she was, he would release the backs of her knees so her dismount was easier. If she wasn't... well, Herryk didn't mind standing in front of the shop looking like a doofus while one pretty and silly Reaper clung to his back.
