Umbreon did not seem nearly as enthused about the scenery outside, it was far to bright for his liking.
He hummed something gruffly, that came out as a soft growl, lowering himself in his seat to get him out of the direct sunlight, and closing his eyes, ears still perked up to pay close attention to the noise around.

From her reaction to the desert, this was a safe assumption.

"Yeah, Its the same with my music, if I had been thinking, i might have brought a selection of music."
She didn't seem to upset about this, a lot of the new popular music coming out wasn't bad.
She took a moment to switch to a channel that she was more familiar with, and left it on, though low enough to be background music that they could enjoy in silence.
"The music industry has really picked up the pace on some pretty decent music in the last few years, If I remember it correctly this station has some good playlists."

Faleen leaned back in her seat, rolling her head to the side to look back over at the Agent who was driving.
She had to admit, this was a very new situation for her. It wasn't often she got dressed in casual clothes, for Hayes it seemed more common, but she couldn't help but notice a much more casual atmosphere that joined it.
Each time he would look over at her, the Agent would arch her eyebrows, listening to him speak before she lifted her head off the headrest.

"" Binary faltered, ears falling back. Her inexperience was showing. "cars,>" she scoffed, as if Umbreon had asked her if she'd been in a Pokeball. "" The little Umbreon nodded to herself; that didn't sound quite so naive. Aware that staring at the monotonous - well, to anyone but her, anyway - landscape only highlighted how little she'd seen it before, she quickly sat back in the seat and turned an attentive look on the older Pokemon. ""

"Oh yeah?" Hayes kept a firm hand on the wheel and his eyes on the road this time. "I didn't think you were into that stuff - sounds like you follow it pretty closely." It was said in a curious tone, without accusation and condescension. It took a minute for his preoccupied mind to make sense of the current song, but at a familiar bit of melody he gave the dashboard a glance.

Arceus, he always forgot how bright it was out here. Keeping one hand on the wheel, the tech reached up and adjusted the sun guard to block the worst of the pre-noon glare. It was still warm, though; he could practically feel the rays heating the cotton of his shirt.

Umbreon listened to what she said, even though he didn't quite understand what she was getting at, Though he did open a single red eyes to watch her as she stumbled through her explanation.
Most of these models that Umbreon knew from Faleen driving them didn't have the trunks like cars did. <.... Why do you ask?>
It seemed an odd question, and he had to admit, he was confused by it.

"Music?" She glanced over at him, shrugging a shoulder light as her hand made a gesture toward the radio "Its something to do, who doesn't like music." She added, with a light breath after.

The song that followed caught her attention, and she fell quiet to listen to the first few verses. lifting one of her arms up to press her elbow to the boor, leaning the side of her jaw against her fist.
She remained like this, unmoving for some time, before she blinked, once... twice.
"Hm... never payed much attention to the lyrics on this song before."

Binary looked away, taking the opportunity to make sure Faleen was still safely in the front seat. "" The young Umbreon scratched her ear with a back foot as the car rolled along to disguise the fact she'd just pulled out the first bit of related technical jargon she could think of to show competence. "" she demurred as casually as she could, then tried a subtle change of subject to something that had been worrying her. ""

"Well," Hayes laughed, "I guess. You just sounded really into it there." He maneuvered around a bend in the road, letting the subject drop, but turned his attention to the radio and nodded slightly, listening to the beat. Some lively pop song that whose singer, as far as he could tell, was attracted to someone with green eyes and a nice smile despite their misgivings and secretly hoped they'd make the first move.

"Yeah, s'kind of catchy," he decided after a moment. "Never really got what's so great about kissing in the rain though."

Both eyes opened this time, though he still remained lower in his seat, ears slicking back again.
He watched as she scratched herself, a brow raising, she really didn't know what to make of that question, but figured she was just trying to create conversation. Unique was to go about it, he had to give her credit for that.

As the topic moved to their trainers, his eyes turned to Hayes wearily.

She can't believe she did it again, bringing up something that would lead into a conversation she never enjoyed talking about.
Yes, Faleen knew quite a bit about music, it came with being in a musically oriented family such as hers.
She was careful not to say anything more on the subject, she would have to be more careful, for some reason she just said things around this Agent....

"Hm?" She lifted her head off of her hand, and listened to the part he was talking about.
"I can't imagine it would be as magical as movies and music make it out to be. Hm?" she replied, with a light laugh.
Seemed sensible.

Talking about kissing in the rain, alright, well at least it wasn't about her family.

Now he was the one confusing her. "" Binary asked, cocking her head to the side with a puzzled set of her ears. ""

That laugh seemed to engender another laugh from Hayes. "Yeah, no, it's wet and cold and you can't feel the other person's lips. There's plenty of other ways to do it." He grinned to himself, for a moment his eyes on something other than the rolling desertscape.. then blinked and cleared his throat. That had been an odd place to go. "Anyway. You been camping before?"

Came his answer.
It was ridiculous, she was right, but Umbreon still didn't like this situation. and why was Faleen taking this so lightly, why was so excited about this mission?
Her turned his head again again, draping his chin over one of his elbows.
probably becasue this was supposed to be a discreet mission, no need to waist the manpower on a bigger team... but he wasn't going to admit this.

her chin laid back onto her fist, though she raised her eyebrows, looking over at him as he started to elaborating about what a kiss like that is, giving the distinct impression that he's done it before.
The way he worded it pretty much outright said it.
This didn't really surprise her, though for a moment she wondered what kind of girl me might have interacted with during his past years... she could only really pull references from her schooling, those girl who where always up kept and beautiful, very popular among the boys, and equally as interested.

Would Agent Hayes really have spent time with a girl like that?
Somehow she kinda doubted it.

The subject changed as Hayes made a noise as if thinking he probably said to much, this drew an amused smile from Faleen.
"Uh... once before. If you remember that mission I was sent to Snow Peak, with another grunt?"

She didn't know; honestly, she had no idea of the possible consequences of putting the two agents together for any length of time. Not that - well, they were together for many lengths of time, often on a daily basis, and nothing bad had happened yet, but Umbreon's words of warning that once had stuck in her mind, and she wasn't sure what to expect. ""

Binary watched the dark blonde of Faleen's hair through the gap in the headrest, then turned serious gold eyes on Umbreon as she came to a realization. ""

"Yeah.." Hayes trailed off, mind not entirely in the present. He didn't, actually - not at first, and a crease deepened in his brow as he searched through memories from around that time. His own mission to the Snow Peaks, getting shot, getting turned down by a girl he hadn't even asked out..

Things suddenly snapped into focus, and he glanced at the girl sitting right next to him, who happened to be the same person. "Oh yeah, the backpack. Man, that was forever ago." By this point desert was giving way to sandy scrubland, and an actual road had appeared, running from north to south. The blond shifted in his seat and checked the rearview mirror as he merged onto the asphalt.

"This should be pretty different. No snow, no cold, trees and some decent weather. This would've been a better first time for you, actually," he added, as a lone truck rattling along the road came into view over the horizon. "Sounds like you kind of got thrown in the deep end there."

He repeated, only half listening as steady red eyes watched the humans.
Hayes didn't seem like a threat, he seemed perfectly polite and pleasant and nice. And that is why Umbreon hated him, he was hiding something, he was up to something, and Umbreon didn't understand why Faleen was falling for this.. again!

noticing the movement from the corner of her eye, she to looked over at the programer, puzzled, he only looked for a second though, and continued talking about the mission.
Ah, he probably just looked outside her side window for something.
"And the lack of a healing bullet wound will be quite helpful as well." She added with a half grin.
That had not been fun.
"Then again it was something of a punishment, even if through the trials I got Absol." The engineer noted, plucking one one of the dusk balls and closing her hands around it. "It was worth it in the end, I feel."

She lowered her folded hands down into her lap, watching the scenery around her chance. "I'm looking forward to this much more then I ever will going back to Sky Peak again though."
nothing can beat looking for missing new tech.

"" The little dark type turned her eyes forward, something clearly on her mind. ""

For a moment the two Pokemon looked like matching statues. Then Binary's ear twitched and she looked at Umbreon, leaning toward him intently. "really important not to let them get like they were before.. or worse.>" The look on her face was deadly serious.

"Oh yeah." Hayes grinned too, rather ruefully. "Kofuku's chocolate syrup." That in itself had been so bizarre he'd forgotten the cause of it until now. She'd gotten that wound from the same raid as his.. by being impulsive, disobeying orders, and injuring her Umbreon.

She'd been really different then.

The tech's brows lifted. "You got an Absol? I got picked up by a Glaceon." Maybe she'd remember Nemerle from the time she'd stopped by when he was sick. That had still been really nice of her, and he'd appreciated the company as much as the ibuprofen. And just being thought of. It'd been surprising. "Still, that's a heck of a punishment," he chuckled. "But I guess that's Seth. You came out better for it, definitely."

Faleen's next comment drew an amused 'heh.' "Well that's good. I really wasn't sure how you'd feel about this trip having robots and everything, but I guess even they're better than subzero temps and a bullet wound," he cheerfully deadpanned, casting a sidelong glance to see if she'd caught the tone in his voice.

He told her, with a split second glance over to her, before looking back to the elbows of the two humans.

"Ugh..." Faleen rememberd that mess with the syrup, though she sounded like she didn't want to. "She was... a unique person." Faleen said, though took a moment to search for the word.
It had been a long time since Faleen had seen the grunt, she didn't know where she got to in the last several months.

Falling quiet when Hayes continued talking, nodding softly, before a small smile joined with pink cheeks when he said she had come out better for it.
"Thanks you" She said, rather quietly. "I was grateful for the opportunity, even if it was pretty sure once or twice I would die up there." She still smiled thought this, the idea not frightening her.
"Lesson learned though." she added with a laugh.

When he mentioned his Glaceon, Faleen tilted her head in his direction again, thinking about it for a moment. He had a few different Eons.
"The one from the other week? I believe I met that one. You got it from the sky peaks as well?"

She laughed again, this time more fully at the other Agent's last comment. "I would do a lot to get my hands on this kind of Tech. To be able to get a close look at a Galactic robot. Think of how much we could learn from it, maybe give up more hints as to how we can get a firm upper hand on them."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 04, 2011 11:05 pm

"" Binary nodded sharply, then turned her eyes forward as well. From what she could see they were too close right now.

"Heh." Hayes grinned at the road. "You really see the good in situations." The road was getting more populated now, and the blond's gaze flicked from mirrors to road to median, taking note of the other cars and mile markers that had started to appear. "S'good."

"More like Nemerle got me," he confirmed when Faleen asked, as they passed a sign that said 'SANDALWOOD - 15.' "After she dug us out of the avalanche she wouldn't leave us alone. I don't know why, but I really owe her- whoa!" "Bree!" The van drifted toward the edge of the lane as a blue-ringed blur swarmed over the partition and under Hayes' arm to stare pointedly at the Rocket who'd just laughed. Really laughed.

Hayes pulled the vehicle back to the center of the lane and tried to see over the creature suddenly in his lap. "What's the matter with you?" he asked the dark ears obscuring the odometer, sounding puzzled and somewhat alarmed, but not angry. The tech lifted a knee to dislodge her. "Breon, breon," the dark type scolded, not taking her eyes of Faleen as she shifted her paws to keep balance.

The sudden arrival of an Umbreon between them, and the unexpected movement of the vehicle becasue of it caused Faleen's arm to drop from the door where it was resting.
Eyebrows arching as she blinked, with a calm surprise when the Shiny Umbreon was suddenly barking... and scolding her? From Haye's lap.

Her lips parted slightly, wondering what had triggered this.
Normally she wouldn't have involved herself, this wasn't her pokemon, it was Hayes' Pokemon, though he seemed preoccupied at the moment.
"Alright now," She spoke through the barking.
glancing over at the street ahead of them, then at Hayes.
"Are you okay? do you need help?"
Had it been any other type but a dark type, Faleen might not have offered, but she liked dark types, even if this one didn't seem to happy with her right now.

Umbreon had jerked back up when Binary had made a move forward, his eyes wide in surprise.
He was not as polite about a reply as Faleen was though.
He snapped

"I'm okay-" Hayes was distracted by a passing semi and Binary's persistent scolding, "-Bines." "Breon. Breon. Bre-" At the uncharacteristic stern edge in his voice, the Umbreon's barking died. "..on." Binary cast a bewildered look at her trainer.

"C'mon, backseat." The blond lifted an elbow to create an out for the dark type, who tried to make herself flat as possible as she shuffled through. Binary didn't return to her spot beside the other Umbreon, but hunkered on the floor of the back seat, ears drooped - more from Umbreon's angry tone than Hayes' admonishment. "" she protested, not looking at the older Pokemon. Why had he gotten so mad? Weren't they supposed to protect their trainers together?

Hayes let out a breath. "She's not gonna eat me," he told the downcast shape in the rearview mirror. As quickly as it had shifted before, his tone was back to its normal tenor that bordered on a laugh. "You're fine."

"" his Pokemon mumbled sulkily.

They were in a clearer patch of road now, back to steady driving. Hayes took the opportunity to look over and see how Faleen had taken the whole thing. "I.. guess she still gets possessive," he said by way of apology, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. "I thought when she evolved she'd grown out of that."

He could handle it, and he did, very well.
Dark types were not the easier type to train, not necessarily becasue they were strong, but becasue of that twisted nature most of them inherently possess.
She didn't get involved, but watched as Hayes got her to return to the back.

She had never heard him be to stern with his pokemon before, she was impressed.

"You to Umbreon, thats quite enough of that." She told her own dark type, looking from Binary over to Umbreon who seemed to be scolding her.

Umbreon shut his mouth instantly, though his expression still remained as a frown, sighing as he caught
Faleen's eye and lowered himself back onto his elbows.
Twisting an arm around to stroke one of his ears a couple of times, before looking over at Hayes again.
"I guess I startled her, I apologize."

Umbreon lowered his head. looking over at her
