"No less tacky than a bottle of disgusting perfume," Ganymede countered. He happened to think the gem stones added something to the piece. Otherwise, it would look so bland and boring. It had to be decorative somehow if it was just going to sit out on a table like that for anyone to see.
"I guess it'd make sense if they did something like that. I don't know. I don't even know what Ganymede was known for," he said. "I haven't seen much more than people in the visions or memories or whatever, and they never really say much for me to get a good idea of what the culture was like or what other people saw in them. All I know is Sailor Ganymede wasn't allowed to tell anyone his real name, like it was some sort of secret, and it seemed like he was isolated from everyone else, at least until he was old enough to... I know know... actually be a senshi, I guess. I'm not sure how it worked."
He spun the plate of stars around a bit more, leaning close so that his nose was almost touching the device, trying to find Ganymede on it. If it showed how the stars and planets looked from a point on Jupiter then Ganymede should be there, shouldn't it?
"I wish I knew what happened back then. You know, why everything there is dead, why we're all stuck on Earth now. I think if we knew, things would make a lot more sense," he said, leaning back when he found himself going a bit cross-eyed from looking at all the tiny dots. "I don't really care to live there again, but we're talking about planets full of people and everything's just... gone. Makes me wonder if the same thing'll happen to Earth one day."
That was a rather depressing vein to go on and he started to feel a bit uncomfortable thinking about it. Earth was his home no matter what anyone said, no matter where he'd lived or been from before. He wasn't that person anymore. He might still be Ganymede, but as Ganymede he was Paris, not that boy Liesel.

"That's true I guess," he said, nodding lightly when Ganymede reminded him of his own 'gift'. There could be worse things, he supposed. And they had been lucky enough to find the things from their pasts all in once piece. There were various objects that had fallen or were knocked over and were now in pieces, or had even just fallen apart over time.
"Who knows," he mumbled, looking at the planisphere for a little longer before pulling back to glance around at the objects. "Well, I guess I'll have to go to Valhalla and see just what the fuss is all about," he said with a grin, taking a step away from the table and turning to head back for the entrance.
"I don't know what the story is, but I'm sure there are some who know. I got to hear a little about the past from some of my friends who were there when everyone started showing up. There were aliens and all these other strange things going on. They're looking for a princess, or something like that..." At least that's what he'd gotten from Maia. He still wasn't clear on all the information but he at least heard a little bit about what was going on. "More than that, though... I have no idea."
He paused as he glanced over at Ganymede, noting how upset or uncomfortable he was looking. Was he really upset about all this...? About the fate of the world and if things could happen again...?
"Nothing's going to happen to Earth..." he said, standing close to the senshi. "In the past every senshi was on a different world, right...? With everyone there at the same time... well... Earth's lasted this long, hasn't it...?" So there was no reason for it to... die... Unless they did something stupid to kill it, but he was going to try and stop that. Somehow.

Ganymede really just wanted all of this to be over so he could go back to living a normal life. Of course, he didn't even know if that was possible. Now that he'd become Sailor Ganymede, could he ever go back to being normal? Would there ever be a conclusive end to everything? If there was, who was to say it'd be the way he wanted? They could all be screwed and just not know it yet.
He tried not to think about it. It wasn't a very comforting thought. It took some effort, but he eventually managed to push it from his mind, at least for now.
"Not that stuff about a moon princess again," he said, rolling his eyes as he and Val began to head out of the room. "I heard about her from Kallichore. Well, she called her a moon queen, but I'm assuming they're one in the same. Princess, queen, what-have-you. Apparently that's why we're so hated, because we're going to bring some moon royalty in to rule over everyone. Except no one knows if this moon queen exists, or if she's alive if she does."
Ganymede made no attempts to disguise the fact that he thought of such things as nothing more than a stinking pile of horse s**t.
"Whatever," he finished, shrugging his shoulders. "I guess we just keep doing what we're doing and see what happens. Kick some youma a** and figure something out to get these civilians out of here. I don't know about you, but all this midnight crime fighting and traveling back and forth through space is seriously wearing me out."
He glanced back up at Val with a smile, walking close beside him. "But at least I have good company."

Valhalla frowned when Ganymede rolled his eyes, feeling the same way about this mysterious royal figure from the moon, or whatever that was all about. "You'd think that the Earth would be the big powerhouse, what with all the knights being born there, first..." he mumbled to himself, shaking his head lightly. That, and Earth was the only place left with life, so... something had to have happened in the past to cause all that.
He didn't know how he felt about doing this for the rest of his life. Being a knight and fighting monsters. He was still young, he still had plans for his future. He still wanted to be a pro baseball player, or an architect... or both if he could swing it. He was focusing so much of his energy into securing a goot future for himself that... if something happened and he ended up having to throw it all away because of this magic crap, well... he wasn't going to be very happy, to say the least.
"Who me?" he half joked, smiling down at Ganymede and giving him a little shove to let him know he was joking. "Finding good company is half the battle, I think." There were definitely some people he'd rather spend his time with over others, and he could say that Ganymede was one at the top.
"Come on, let's get out of here... We could always grab some doughnuts on our way home?" he offered, half joking, but really just trying to cheer Ganymede up from looking so miserable. It helped to distract himself as well, he found.

Once again, he was happy to note that he and Valhalla were more or less on the same page. That was essential. If he didn't have Valhalla, he didn't think he could do this as well as he was managing to now. Sure, he had the others, too, and he was beginning to grow to like some of the Jovians -- he'd always liked Europa, Callisto was worth protecting, Pasiphae seemed pretty level headed, even Kallichore had merits, and the others... he didn't know them very well, but he thought they could make a good team -- yet it was Valhalla who kept him grounded, Valhalla he needed above all the others, because Valhalla was Chris and he needed Chris in whatever way he could have him.
He laughed lightly at the page's suggestion, gently shoving him back. "Sure, but you're buying," he said.
It felt good to be with him like this, to act like nothing was wrong between them even if he knew that they'd probably never be able to act like this around one another again if they powered down. In some ways it was sad, that their relationship had become nothing more than stolen moments with Valhalla, who didn't even have a clue and who would probably never treat him the way Chris had treated him when he'd been lying to him, but he was simply happy to still have this, to know that he hadn't lost everything, he just had to know where to look to find a scrap of what had been before.
He wanted so much more, but for now he'd settle for this.
It would have to be enough.
