Rishy just sat back and enjoyed the show. her daughter was making friends, why interfere? hopefully they could go home with two yummy foals to feed to her mate. that would be the ideal situation, but Rishy did not see her daughter being able to finish off the girl foal and catch up to the boy foal before he got too far away. but even still, one foal would be plenty enough to make her mate happy. something about foal meat was just so wonderful, tender. maybe they could just bring back the two foals alive and let Ghostpaw have the pleasure of killing them.
Frostbite felt her claws connect with the Foals chest as he pulled away. she had just missed his throat, but managed to leave a nice scratch on his chest. the boy foal was gone, but in his place was a filly who looked to be related. if she had not interfered then Frostbite would not have missed. this filly had lost her a meal. Frostbite was now in no mood to talk, or answer any of the stupid questions. she still needed something to bring to her mom, so Frostbite pounced again, claws outstretched eager to rip and tear.

Kenton followed suit and got to his feet. the alarm in Cali's eyes along with what Oke had said caused a ping to go off in his head. he felt his heart drop like a stone and fear entered. there was a dark presence in the woods, and his naive kids were prancing about on their own. "Oke im going with Cali to find us some food, stay here in case if the kids come back." he did not give the bear time to reply. Kenton dashed through the woods at top speed, he hear it now, something screamed, it sounded like Tin. he headed in that direction. Enaran came running through the bushes, his chest bleeding. Kenton ran up to him and stopped the foal. "hey, hey, dont worry we are here, tell me what happened, why are you bleeding." Kenton wanted to continue running to find Tin, but that would be reckless. he needed to know what was going on before he just took off. he hoped that Tin was off somewhere else and not in any danger.

Nodding to Oke and confirming Kenton's excuse for them to leave, Cali paused for only a heartbeat before sprinting after her mate. It seemed to take forever to reach the border of the woods, but she heard the scream from far away - her ears worked like antennae to pick up anything threatening. What she heard in her daughter's scream wasn't pain, but anger and desperation. When Kenton stopped to examine Enaran, Cali's breath caught in her chest as she looked at her son. The skin across his chest was torn and red; her vision danced for a moment, but she couldn't pause to let it sink in.
Kenton had treated wounds before. She was sure that he could take care of Enaran. "I'm going ahead," Cali said, talking so fast she barely allowed herself breath between words. "I can hear them; Tin's not hurt yet, but I have to find them." Glancing again at Enaran, she lowered her head to his level. "You'll be fine, baby," she said, trying to reassure him. "Daddy'll take care of you, okay?"
With that, Cali brushed past the boys and loped into the forest, looking for her daughter and the purewalker that threatened her family.

Stopping just in time, Enaran almost ran headlong into Kenton. His chest hurt so much. Almost incomprehensible, Enaran tried to explain himself. "Just... just wanted to play tag... Tin didn't want me to play tag... She scratched me, funny feet..." Scared half to death and rambling, Enaran just nodded to his mother and whimpered. His mind was a racing mess, and he could barely put one foot in front of the other now that he had stopped running. "It hurts," he said, closing his eyes. All he wanted to do was lay down somewhere and get the pain to go away.

Tinuviel saw the filly's claws extend toward her and backed up as quickly as she could, but one still caught her shoulder. It opened a narrow cut there, and the pain made her squeal a little, taking in a sharp breath. Now angrier than ever, Tin aimed a hoof at the foal's face, determined to teach her a lesson. Helberd and Daddy had taught her well, and she was sure that the blow would connect, but this evil filly was pretty fast... It was just as possible that the kick would miss.
In the back of her mind, Tin's ears registered that something large was moving quickly toward them - something that didn't seem to make enough noise to be a flat-hoofed soquili, but perhaps one of her own kind... Praying silently that it was her mother, Tin looked back at the pawed skinwalker in front of her, and a thought struck her - where was this foal's mother?sbuggy166 They have to find out each other's names eventually. >.< Any ideas? Maybe their mothers could say something like, "[insert daughter here], let's get out of here," while they're glaring at each other?

Rishy grinned from ear to ear as she watched frostbite get knocked back. that was a solid hit, the little deer filly obviously knew what she was doing. here she throught that frostbite would kill boths foals without incident, but this was turning out to be much more exciting. first the boy got away and now the girl was fighting back. Something was coming, and it was not trying to conceal itself. the colt must have found his parents. yes she could smell it. Rishy carefully dropped down to a lower branch. she could not see as much, but she would be better hidden this way.
Frostbite felt the hoof hit her jaw. there was enough force behind it to send her stumbling backwards. no blood was drawn, but it would most defiantly leave a nice bruise. now she was furious. she had not expected the filly to strike back. there were two options, did she try and take on this filly or push past her to go find the weak boy. well she still needed something to bring back to her mother so she could go after the boy, but if the filly caught up to her then she would hate to get caught in the middle. so the filly first, then the weak boy. Frostbite let out a growl of annoyance at the pain in her jaw, then attacked the filly again. this time she was going for the kill, throat shot, teeth ready to sink into soft foal flesh.

Kenton's mind was racing, before him his son was bleeding freely from his chest. a clarity and seriousness fell over him as he quickly and calmly delt with the situation. moving through the motions he first nudged Enaran to get him to lay down. "im here for you, dont worry ill make it stop. just take a deep breath. lay down on your side im gonna put something on your chest." Kenton kept talking soothing words as he worked. first he found some leafs, they were not medicinal, but they would numb the area a bit. he took a bunch of them in his mouth and chewed them. next he took the paste and very carefully applied it to his sons cut. "dont touch this, just keep breathing and look at me. dont close your eyes, not yet. dont take your eyes off me, im right here." he knew that the wound was not fatal, but to someone so small a bump on the knee can bring tears. Enaran was not crying, he was in serious pain. Kenton had to get him back to the herd, were he could be treated properly. but what was more important. there was still a skinwalker in the woods. did he kill the beast and then help Enaran? his son was in pain...
is duty or his son? Kenton thought quickly, there had to be a way..."OKE! En ill be right back, i need to find the beast that did this, Oke will be here to help you. just keep breathing." Kenton darted through the woods at top speed. there was Oke just as he left him. "Oke! there is no time, please come with me, Enaran is hurt, he was playing and got hurt, follow me." he did not have time to explain, nor did he want the bear to panic. he did not wait for the bear to respond he just turned and went back to Enaran. he had to do his duty. if he did not kill the beast then more would be hurt like En.

Oke jerked his head up; he'd laid it down on his paws while waiting for Tay to come back, but he'd heard the scream of foals in the distance. He was already on his feet when he saw Kenton sprinting toward him. His eyes widened when Kenton told him what had happened, and was immediately on the run after the stallion. Enaran was one of his best friends, and the thought of him being hurt made his level of concern go through the roof.
When he saw the colt, his vision narrowed for a second as it focused on the evenly spaced, jagged gashes on his chest. Shaking off the shock, Oke ran to En's side. He had to stop the bleeding - all the help he would have been able to find had already found En, so he couldn't run off to find someone to help, but he could try to staunch the streams of blood trickling from En's chest. "Lay down, lay down," Oke said. As soon as Enaran complied, Oke stuck the top of his head against the cuts, doing his best to put pressure on the wound. Tay would probably be annoyed when she found out about the method he'd devised for doing this, but he had to do something. He could already feel the bleeding beginning to slow.
Cali reached them just in time to see the purewalker foal lash out at her daughter. She could see it in slow motion, calling, "Tinuviel!" Desperate to save her foal from the kill shot, Cali darted between the two of them and felt two sets of claws rake across her forelegs and gnashing jaws rip into the soft flesh on her lower chest. Doing her best not to scream like everyone else seemed to be doing today, Calixte backed up, trying to get a hoof against the abdomen of the purewalker to kick it off of her. She felt her flesh rip, but the only thing that was important was saving her child.
In the corner of her eye, she thought she saw something black, a shadow, flicker in the branches of a nearby tree...

When Kenton left for a moment, Enaran just stood there, not thinking. He hadn't registered the nudges to get him to lie down - he'd just stumbled sideways a bit, uncomprehending. The leaves on his chest felt weird, but the pain was gradually receding. The shock was beginning to slowly set in. He'd just wanted to play... He didn't understand why someone would want to hurt him. He hadn't done anything to her, had he?
Soon, Kenton returned with Oke in tow. When Oke blatantly told him to lay down, he automatically did as he was told, but when the bear pushed his head into the mess of leaves and blood on his chest, he squirmed and squealed. It was uncomfortable, and the pain came back as Oke kept the pressure on. But he couldn't get away - with Oke standing in front of him, he couldn't get up. Whimpering again, he just tucked his tail down and wiggled it violently, trying to distract himself. "It hurts, it - " he started, but was cut off by what sounded like his mother crying his sister's name, followed by a strangled scream. His ears perked up, and fear struck. What was going on in there?

Tinuviel didn't register that her mother was there until, suddenly, Calixte was shoving her way in front of Tin. She'd been too busy watching the purewalker's face contort with fury - seeing its maw open wide and it's claws aimed at her for the second time. For some reason, Tin didn't react like she had the first time; she was still amazed that her first kick had had such an effect on the other filly. From her place behind Cali, Tin saw the blue flash and saw blood as her mother took the blow that had been meant for her. "Mommy!" she cried, voice breaking as she moved to ram her shoulder into the other foal's chest. She hoped it wouldn't hurt her mother too much, but she had already decided that pushing sideways would be worse. Not sure if she'd be able to break its grip on her mother, Tin continued to push toward the other foal. She was determined to run it off - it was just a matter of whether the other filly would give in and how long it would take. There wasn't room in her mind for fear to settle down anymore; all she could feel was the urgency in the pit of her stomach and the fire of rage in her lungs. She had been transformed into a wounded, defensive animal - she was feverish with the need to get this evil thing away from herself and her family.sbuggy166 The hits that are being aimed at Frost are just attempts. She doesn't have to take any that you don't want her to. She just has to let go eventually. =P

oh this was just great! what a beautiful turn of events. Rishy wanted to laugh at the predicament that frostbite was now in. what would her silly little daughter do? would she fight off the both of them? surely frostbite could not, she was still too small for that. not to mention that she was facing a trained foal and its enraged mother. this was just grand, frostbite would be killed for sure if she had been alone. but she wasent alone. Rishy intended to stay hidden up until the very last moment. she wanted to watch her daughter beg for her help, to beg for a savior. she Rishy watched.
Frostbite felt her teeth sink into flesh, but it was not right. this was not the soft throat of a young foal. no this was the chest and muscles of an adult...a strong adult. her aim was right, and her jaw was strong so her teeth held on tight even when the mare tried to shake her. but then something rammed into her shoulders and she let out a yelp of pain. the hit knocked her off, her teeth ripping out as she went. thank goodness that little filly did not have antlers or that could have been a terrible mess. Frostbite quickly stood up and growled. she could get a full assessment of her challenger now. it was a mare, in her prime of life, fully grown, and obviously the filly's mother. the situation went from an easy kill to what could possibly be the fight for her life. did Rishy know that there were parents close by? was this all a set-up? "What ever, i can still take on the both of you." her shoulder was smarting greatly, proboly dislocated. her jaw hurt from biting the mares hard chest. her face felt heavy were the filly had kicked her, but she could still fight. she just had to think about it more. be more strategical. if she could get on top of the mare then the filly could not reach her and the mare would have a hard time.
no, no there was no way she could win this, she was not stupid and it was not worth dieing for just to prove something. so she did the most shameful thing she could. Frostbite fell to the ground and began to whimper like a little lost puppy. tears came to her eyes easily, fake crying was something she was good at. "please, please dont kill me. i was just hungry, i was just hunting. please, please." little sobs escaped between her words. she was strongly banking on the hope that this mare had a kind heart.

Kenton stayed just long enough to see that Oke would be able to handle Enaran. then he was off, sprinting full speed through the underbrush. following the sounds of a fight. it hurt him so much the think of Cali and Tin and we was not there to help, but he would be there, he would be there as fast as his feet could carry him. his antlers ready to skewer the beast that threatened his family. Mahogany Sunset so im having a hard time with the flow of posts between my characters, so i might start having rishy go after kenton, just to give you a heads up. but we will see, things might work themselves out

Oke held steady even as Enaran squirmed. When Oke, too, heard the sounds from inside the forest, he went still for a moment, as though listening with his entire body. After Tin followed suit and screamed, there was nothing - there was no way anyone would be able to hear anything less than a yell through those trees. Besides, Oke had been given a task, and he couldn't just leave Enaran. Kenton was on his way to help the Tin and Tay, and all Oke could do was hope everything would turn out all right. "It'll be okay, Enaran," Oke said, trying to distract the colt. Though he still behaved like a cub half the time, Oke was slowly beginning to learn maturity from the adults of the herd. He was also learning a bit of the bedside manner Kenton seemed to have with injured things. "I'm just going to keep the pressure on so nothing bad can happen to you, okay? If I don't it'll hurt worse, and we don't want that, right?" Oke could already feel the blood seeping through the fur on the top of his head. Suddenly, he felt like he wanted a bath.
Calixte gasped as the foal's teeth were pulled roughly out of her skin. She could already feel the blood trickling down her chest; it was something she hadn't experienced in a long time. Looking down at her daughter, who was standing tall and proud next to her, Cali straightened up as tall as she could. She turned a suspicious gaze on the skinwalker foal cowering at her feet and took in the sudden change in behavior; there was no way that was not contrived. However, Cali couldn't exactly blame the filly for her nature. Corruption was in its blood.
"We do not believe in killing, young one," she said, giving the black and blue foal a stern look. "Merely severe warnings." Stepping forward, she attempted to put a hoof on the filly's paw with enough pressure that it wouldn't be able to escape, but gentle enough not to crush it. "Now, what is your name?" Calixte asked, her voice maternal but still a bit dangerous. She didn't want this filly to start thinking she'd be able to weasel her way out of this. While she wasn't about to start torturing her, Cali did want her to learn her lesson. If she was going to hunt something, she should hunt rabbits - their population, at least, wasn't in danger, and they couldn't exactly talk back, for the gods' sakes. Even so, Cali was sure her formidable look was lessened when she winced. The pain was beginning to flower like thorned blossoms in her chest. Still, she wasn't afraid of this child before her. It was merely misguided... And she could hear Kenton rushing through the forest nearby. That certainly helped maintain her confidence.

Enaran slowly began to calm down, his hyperventilation turning into deeper breaths. His ears flicked around a bit as he listened hard for any sign of his family, but he couldn't hear anything but Oke's voice. Sighing, he settled down and began to wait, on high alert for any sign of that funny-feet foal coming back for him. He still didn't understand it. They'd never met before. Why would she want to hurt him? Was she just mean like that? Her parents must have raised her wrong if she was such a bully...
Mulling it over, Enaran continued to watch the forest around him. He hoped his parents would come back soon...

Tinuviel looked at her mother, astonished. How was she so calm? Even after getting ripped up like that? And what did she mean, they didn't believe in killing? Surely, an exception could be made for this - this thing. It was an abomination - it had tried to kill her brother, hadn't it? Tin was positive it'd killed other things, too... And that was not something that the herd condoned. "Mommy..." she said quietly, looking between her mother and the other foal. "Shouldn't we just put her -" [[<-That would say 'down.']]
But Tin cut herself off. If the herd did not condone killing, then what kind of crime would it be to kill someone out of vengeance, whether that person was a murderer or not? No matter what she was, Tin didn't want to be a hypocrite. She despised them. So she held her tongue, and picked up the sound of her father crashing through the forest. Her ears flicking this way and that, she tried to hide her relief that they wouldn't be alone with this filly and whatever pack was lurking somewhere behind it... But she wasn't sure how well she did at hiding that.
