Taima continued to laugh, obviously in high spirits despite her friend's surprise at just how playful she could be and how quick and swift she could be when she wanted to. Little did she know that he hadn't really ever felt the joy of a game or chase. If she did, it would probably be disaster for him; she'd forget all about the search and force him to play with her then and there.

"You were surprised, just admit it," she teased playfully, rolling back and forth on her paws as they made small indentions in the snow. When she lifted them uneven patterns were left by her right forepaw, being as it was missing two pads.

Oblivious to the scars that lay directly in front of her on Damu's fur, the female continued to wag her tail and dart back and forth in front of him. High energy was running through her veins and she just couldn't stay still for more than a few seconds. She often became this way when she believed she had made a new friend.

Nodding, Tai stopped momentarily to look back at the black and white male. "Oh, well, I guess that's good. I'll know what to look for and I won't be pressured into finding it quickly." Yes, that would truly be terrible. She wasn't built to handle much pressure.

Not really minding if the subject changed or not, and quite frankly not really caring at all in the first place, she was happy when he nipped her back. At first she had been startled, being as he hadn't shown any playful nature since she had started up the little 'game'. Yet it thrilled her to know that he was at least capable of feeling fun.

"Haha, yeah you did!" she yipped excitedly, bounding forward slightly after him with ears perked and eyes alert. "But can you catch me again?" she growled playfully in a challenging tone, darting forward with intense speed and hoping to leave him behind for a bit before he chased after her and most likely caught up in no time flat.

His mind was diverted from the original plan as it revolved around one simple concept; fun. For now, he could be at peace knowing that his brother was alive, that he had long survived within the woods without a problem, and for once he could let a small streak of his puppy nature reveal itself in a spot of fun.

Words faultered to come to a response as he simply nodded his head only to agree that to rush into the search would only cause a panicked rush and, in Damu's case, he never liked to be rushed nor pressured. His pace had gradually decreased to a gait while his paws continued to sweep across the snow, rolling across its surface with reliative ease. Glancing back, Damu couldn't help but grin as the wolfess yipped with excitement and engaged in the chase.

But what was this? A challenge?

Emerald orbs gleamed mischiveiously as his black ears drew upwards with intrest, lured by hearing Taima's tone riddled with thrill. "Catch you again? I never miss my mark," he replied with a laugh, "and I won't give up."

The young adult seemed to be caught somewhat off guard as the she-wolf bolted past him, a true trick of the trade to attract the challenge-loving nature within him. Instead of madly rushing after her, he would wait. He could wait until he found the time to be perfect, for the time he could strike.

Watching as she was pulling far ahead, Damu gripped the ground underneath with his claws, feeling the earth underneath as he waited. As his back muscles tensed and the moment was deemed ripened, the white and black swirled male leapt into a full sprint. The chilling wind bristled his jagged fur upwards as a mist of white escaped from his gaping maw.

Just like the thrill of the hunt, exhileretion surged within his wolfish veins and swept wildly through his body. It felt as if that coming to the woods was dawning a new life, a new begining, as the past was only another lifetime ago. He was two wolves; one of the past and one of the present, trying to find his place within the world. It was another lifetime and it had belonged to someone else yet his markings were to atone for the sins he had comitted.

How could he even begin to explain what he was? No, he thought as he tried to shake free of the feelings that were begining to take root in him, they wouldn't understand. No one would. There was something that made him want to bear his soul to her, a feeling that, perhaps, of all the wolves he had come across Taima would understand. He wanted to build a trust but, somewhere in his heart, he knew it couldn't be. Emotions were never easy to define, whether it was anger, sorrow, or whatever he was feeling just now.

Drawing closer as he was behind her several feet away, the white and black swirled wolf lay behind as, once again, he'd make his move when the perfect opportunity presented itself.

Taima laughed happily as she bolted across the ground and the male behind her accepted her challenge. Yet he didn't chase after her fully, he didn't act as if he was going to get at her right away. Was he teasing? Trying to make her wait out the moments in suspense... ooh how she hated that.

Narrowing her smooth eyes slightly, she growled playfully then lengthened her strides so that she covered more distance. An ear flicked back in his direction as she continued along, slender snout taking in all of the necessary oxygen that was needed for her running exercise.

Then she made a huge mistake: she looked back.

The female was curious to see how far ahead she was or how close he was to catching up, so she had turned her head to look at him. But of course, being the clumsy wolf that she was, she ended up tripping over her paws and a random stick. The trip then turned into a stumble, which led her to go tumbling head over paws. 'Oofs' and 'ergs' escaped her as she rolled and rolled, seeming like she'd never stop. But then she did.

Tai ended up in a furry and dusty heap, all of the dirt in the air making a cloudy mist that somewhat hid her from view. Her eyes were closed tightly as her head rolled over on the ground. Legs were splayed out randomly against her body, and the paw with the missing pad was propped up in plain sight.

"Auuuuuugh," she groaned, attempting to get her body back in the right alignment. It kinda hurt though...

The wolfess lay still for many moments. Her heart was racing inside of her ear and it hurt to move about. All over her muscles were screaming, and the joint in her propped up paw was quite bruised at the very least. When she opened her eyes it was hard to see.

"Damu?" she questioned, hearing his voice but not seeing his face. She began to worry, to panick. Why couldn't she see? Finally she touched her muzzle with his and she relaxed. He was still talking and so she knew this one was him. Pretty soon her eyes cleared up as her body stabled itself and normal blood flow was restored within.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Tai then focused on the pain in her forepaw, wondering idly if she had sprained it or something. That had happened to her as a pup many times, and so this was nothing really new to her.

She was about to tell him that she would be alright, it was just that she needed to rest, but he began speaking out loud and telling her to do things. Was he trying to help? Suddenly she had a new fondness for him. Never before had anyone else tried to help her. Back home, they'd just ignore her or go running off on a hunt that she would be killed in if she followed. Tristan had merely laughed at her when she had run into a tree and bruised her ribs. But Damu seemed afraid for her, afraid that she might actually be hurt.

Smiling, she nipped on his ears playfully. The question 'why?' ran through her head, but she dared not ask it. Why question something that was so great? It was foolishness in her mind, and so she said nothing. Instead, she focused on doing what her friend had suggested she try and do.

"O...kay..." she mumbled, moving about slowly so as to not disturb her injured paw. Pretty soon her other legs were in the correct alignments, and she was smiling even wider. Taim was more sturdy than others might have thought.

"Like this?" she questioned, ready to lift herself up with his help. She was sure that she could most likely stand up alone, but she didn't want to risk anything.

The strange emotions tugged at his heart, soft-stepping though him with an unfamiliar course. There was too much a mystery about him, secrets locked behind those emerald eyes. But that mystery, a difference that abounded around him and Taima, was what drew him to her.

A stillness quieted the pains of his past and the burdens that rested heavily upon his shoulders as these emotions were ones that he was experiencing firsthand for the first time. Damu smiled to himself. Never had he found so much happiness and the source was directly in front of him.

He whuffed low as the wolfess nipped at his black ears and, in return, he buried his muzzle into the side of her head and gradually returned the favor with a tender tug at her ear. The awaiting words that he so dearly yearned to whisper within her ears were stubborn; they couldn't easily roll off his tounge. Was he embarrassed? No- he was never quite sure how to convey his feelings perfectly. But something reassured him that certainly the female knew of what he felt and, hopefully, she the same.

Parting his maw away from her ears, Damu took a step back to give Taima more room as she began maneuvering herself to the right position. As his emerald orbs kept a close watch, he nodded with a smile.

"Yes, perfect." He replied with wide grin. Slowly padding closer, the white and black male crouched low as he positioned himself as his the continuation of his plan was formulating.

"Now," he began as he glanced over to meet with her eyes," when you lift yourself up I'll move right underneath you to help stable your balance and break your fall if it's too much." Lowering himself closer to the ground, Damu flicked his black ringed tail side to side.

"I'm ready when you are, Tai."

Taima smiled at the other beside her. It was so comforting to have someone there who actually cared about you, one who didn't laugh when you tripped but rather rushed to be by your side and make sure that you weren't hurt or anything. One who understood how you felt and seemed to have similiar feelings running through their veins.

She might have been feeling the same things that he was, but she couldn't be sure. Acting as a puppy for most of her life had caused her to almost ignore those types of feelings. It would take him to make the first move in order for those specific things to be unlocked within her.

A slight content grumble emitted from the female's chest as Damu tugged on her ear. It was nice to have someone else to play with you who also was able to help you in a time of need. Like now, when she had her hurt paw and could have possibly been unstable standing on her own.

Her ears rang comfortably as he said that she had done what he asked perfectly. It was nice for a change to hear a praise rather than some rude comment that expressed too greatly how horribly she was doing.

"Okay.. so I'll just..." Tai attempted to lift herself up. At first she stayed up, yet her legs were a tad wobbly. The impact from the fall still had its shocking grip on her body it seemed. But she was determined to stay strong and be able to do this. However, it seemed that her legs had a different scenario in mind, for a moment later they buckled and she ended up falling down on him a little.

"Ugh!" She growled in frustration, just about ready to give up. She discouraged easily, it seemed.

Looking up into her radiant green eyes, much like his own, Damu let the vengence and pent up anger within his body dissapate into sheer nothingness. It was then he knew with absolute clarity that she could have his heart for the taking, that it had already become hers. It just needed but one touch to bind him to her, time without end.

Yet to convey his feelings in a wholesome effect, he would need to make a move to show her how he felt and shower her with emotions like he had never done before. But when? Certainly it would have to be soon as his emotions were running wild within him.

His vision focused upon the wolfess as she slowly began to lift herself up from the ground. "Good...good. Nice and slow, Taima." He commented with a soft voice, steadily watching her progress. Glancing towards her legs, he noticed them begin to buckle and ultimately cause her to lose her stability. Reacting quick as Taima fell down upon him, the white and black swirled wolf rose upwards in attempt to cushion her fall.

As his back seemed to help support most of Tai's fall, Damu lifted himself slightly higher as he looked back at her with a reassuring, light smile. "No need to get upset, Taima. You did good!" He could decifer her frustration and, from personal experience, he knew what a bitter taste it held. But he knew one thing; never give up.

Some had always said that trials and challenges make one strong and, truth be told, it transformed the heart and mind. If it was one thing he had learned from his mistakes, it was to never faulter and stand strong as one can only press onwards through life.

"I'm going to slowly rise back to my feet and when I get to a comfortable level I'll stop and we'll get you back on your feet one way or another." With a rather calm voice, he leaned his muzzle close to hers and affectionately licked her.

Unknown to the feelings running wild throughout the one next to her, as she was too focused on getting back to her paws, the female whimpered slightly. Her paw was aching a bit more now that she was actually moving around and bothering it. Perhaps she should just lay down...

But then the praises continued to come. For some reason unknown to her at this moment, his voice calmed her and instilled a new sense of confidence and comfort that she would have given up otherwise if he hadn't been there. He made sure that she kept going, and she greatly appreciated it. So much so that she nuzzled his furry white and black swirled neck.

"I know.. I know," she murmured, attempting to calm herself down after her first failure. It just wasn't fun falling down again once you were unstable and weak from a great tumble.

Trial and error, trial and error.

A true failure is one who stops trying altogether.

These two lessons rang throughout her head as she was encouraged by the male beside her. Tai smiled warmly at him as her eyes sparkled, showing some emotion that was slowly revealing itself inside of her. A strong heart beat rapidly against her chest as she looked at him.

"Okay, once more..." she began, ready to try and stand up once again with Damu's help. But then suddenly she felt something warm and wet grace her muzzle. At first she thought it was raining or something, but then it clicked in her mind that it had been a lick from him.

Blinking, as she was slightly confused, Taima looked at Damu straight in the eyes, trying to figure out what was going on through his head. There had been wolves back home who had toyed with her emotions, and so she was slightly afraid of what might happen. Yet something inside of her, whether it was just a reaction or a true act from her heart, made her smile and nuzzled into him a bit more, showing the same sort of affection that he had just shown her.

Saying nothing, as she thought that some stupid words from her might just ruin the moment, she just stayed there and smiled at him. And her heart soared.

As his eyes drew parallel with those of Tai, the white and black swirled wolf seemed to hold its breath as did their surroundings as it felt like the shrouded watchful eyes onlooked the two in anticipation, for love to become an untamed inferno and the confessions of emotions to break free from captivity.

Never would he mockingly jest with love; it was a delicate and fragile emotion he never did like to falsely declare. But his heart had declared his affection, she had already won him over.

Feeling her nuzzle deeper into his white and black swirled fur, her touch seemed to send a static spark surge throughout his body. It was...invigorating! He had been waiting all his life for such a moment and, at last, he felt complete with her. Tai's sweet scent filled his nostrils, luring him closer as such a scent was infectious. A broad smile drew upon his maw as this was the moment he was waiting for...he had to say something.

"Tai, you give me something that I can believe in- you've opened up my eyes." His voice was soft, a calm and relaxed tone as he was becoming more of the compassionate wolf that had been buried within him for so long.

At last, true emotions were breaking through! "You're beautiful. You get my senses running wild and your sweet, sweet smile...I love you, Taima, and I'm willing to sacrifice everything for you- for your affection."

Damu's heart raced as his emotions broke through and began sweeping wildly through him. He had expressed his emotions...and he couldn't of held them in too much longer. As his eyes softened and his emotions began to slowly evelope within cloud nine, he stood there only hoping that his words would ring true.

Taima wanted to look away, to hide her embarassment that was slowly turning her cheeks red. His gaze seemed so caring, so full of admiration and love. Never before had she seen that look being directed at her. Normally others had just ignored her completely or made fun of her because she acted like such a pup. But not this one, not Damu. He truly understood her in all aspects, and that was why she couldn't drag her gaze away from him.

Slowly her ebony-tipped tail began to wag back and forth, back and forth, showing her happiness with the whole situation. It was almost impossible at this point to stop her tail. Black toes wiggled in excitement as she moved herself about so that she was now standing, and not partially resting on him. Tai stood against him, smiling broadly while still looking into those enchanting eyes of his. Though, she did favor her right forepaw; it still hurt.

Then, when his affectionate words began to pour from his mouth, her pointed black ears perked forward; she didn't want to miss a single word. And then it was like someone had just freed a thousand birds from their cages, letting them fly away into the air and go where they pleased. Taima seemed to feel like flying herself.

"Damu.." she began, trying to think of the words. It was just so amazing that anyone could ever love her that she was still trying to get over the minor shock. Now, it seemed, it was her turn to confess yet she couldn't think of the words.

Oh no... what if he thought that she didn't love him because she couldn't find the words in time? That would be horrible! But then... she figured that he had enough understanding. He would most likely stick around until she was able to proclaim her love, for he had said he would do anything for her affections. Didn't that mean waiting to? Or perhaps he wouldn't have to wait...

"Damu," she repeated once more, except now she was almost confident with what she would tell him. "Before I was just a wanderer, with no real place to go. But now... you've given me something to look forward to, something that I can cherish and hold forever. You've given my life meaning."

A sudden grumble came forth, one that was meant to resemble the purr of a cat for she was quite happy and content.

"I love you, everything about you. Your loving gaze, your soft and snug coat, whether it holds a sinful past or not, no matter. Your caring ways, fun games... everything! It all gets me going and thinking that I could soar through the sky if I wanted. It makes me extremely happy and warm." A slight pause. "You have my affections."

The female grumbled again then leaned into him, giving a quick and affectinate n** to his ear before settling down on her haunches in a sit and nuzzling her muzzle into his warm, sweet-smelling neck. Never would she forget his scent or him.

It was amazing how a little thing like love could make someone feel so high and mighty. For Tai, it was like someone had just given her wings, like she was now able to fly high above the forest tree tops and soar on the winds with the eagles and the hawks. It seemed like she could soar on forever and never come down, like she could just stay up there and be safe, be comfortable and happy.

Never before had the female had this sort of sensation. She felt older, more alive, and not so much like a puppy. Of course, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact for her it was the greatest thing that had ever occured.

Before him, before all of this, she had been forced to live alone and be afraid of everything. Her family hadn't done much for her, and so she had practically learned all of her skills on her own. They weren't perfect but got her by alright. Yet now she wouldn't have to worry, not ever again. She had the love of her life by her side, the one named Damu. He was her guardian, companion, lover...

"And I shall be here for you always, no matter what," she assured him, nibbling playfully on his frilly neck. It was so enlightening to have someone there for you forever, through the good and bad. It was quite satisfying, really, and Taima now wondered how she had ever survived before when she hadn't known him.

When he asked where they should go, her black ears perked then fell backwards. Her paw was feeling a bit better, but she was sure that it would be difficult to walk on. Plus, from pass experiences, she knew not to work the injured muscle or body part too much to avoid risking any further injury.

"I think we should find some place... but I'm not sure how far I will be able to walk." Yes, going from four legs to three might be a bit challenging, but she would definitely get through it. Especially if she had him to help her through it all. That would definitely give her the spirit to push through.

Licking at his maw, she smiled then sat down comfortably. "Perhaps we should find somewhere to stay for the night... I don't think it's really smart to stay in the open with my injury." Her eyes sparkled as she talked and looked at him. He was just so amazing and handsome...

His brows knitted in thought recalling any place, any suitable safehaven from the night that was in range. It only took a few moments for the recollection to come clear and a smile was brought upon his maw. Not too far away, just past the gnarly treeswhere remnant patches of snow still inahbited the ground was a small outcropping of rock that protruded forwards. Certainly it would shield them from nights bitter cold and provide safety least the white and black swirled male would be called upon to bear his teeth and brawl...yet that was the last thing on his mind.

He stretched his neck upwards slightly as his muzzle was seized with a soothing lick which caused him to close his eyes momentarily and feel the warmth of his mate as she sat aside him.

"There's a place not too far from here, love." Love...he never did use the word but with each use he was finding more of a pleasing ring to it. "Just past where we first met," he added as he gently laid his head across her back, slowly trailing it upwards and down the side of her head. Dropping his muzzle slowly as it nuzzled against Tai's fur, he wuffed softly.

"Do you think you can walk that far...or I can find someplace else." His voice was sweet, riddled with affection as it drew low as he only focused on the wolfess beside him.

Whatever her decision, he would follow.

Already he was confident that Taima would be able to make the trek as her spirits were soaring high and her determination was infectious. That's what he liked; perseverance. He never did like to cast lots with chance nor did he ever find retreating from a trial tasteful but, though he had retreated a few times, there were times where one had no choice. It was her strength of heart and brimming compassion that made her irresistable.

How was it that he was ever able to survive without her?

Damu didn't know but all that mattered that he was with her, binded in an unfathomable love that was beyond all measure.

Taima thought and contemplated as her mate tried to recall any place that would be suitable enough for the couple. Was there any place she knew of? Probably not... she traveled so far and wide that it was almost impossible to think of the last place she settled down.

Was it this place... or that? Closing her eyes for a moment to hopefully clear her head, she let her mind race. An instant later she was looking back at him, her mind cleared. Funny... it had never done it that quickly before. She began to wonder if maybe his presence, his unconditional love had anything to do with the strange occurance. Perhaps so. The female smiled warmly.

Love... never had anyone used that word when addressing her. It was something new, something strange, yet something completely enchanting and wonderful. Oh how she loved him!

Grumbling in contentment as the male nuzzled into her, Tai couldn't help but smile a bit more. There was a whole life ahead of the two, and she couldn't wait to live it out with him. They would be together forever, always by each other's side.

Then, when he mentioned some place that he believed suitable for them to stay in for the night, she contemplated once more. Her paw felt better, yes, but that didn't mean it was alright. Ears flicking, her eyes trailed around the area, as if searching for something. Finally, she decided on something with a quick and confirming nod.

"Yes, I can make it, I think. I have you to help me, so I'm sure I'll have little trouble." Her voice was filled with so much emotion it was amazing she wasn't bursting about and jumping for joy. Her eyes sparkled with affection and compassion for the other as her gaze seemed to always wander back to him.

"Shall we go?" she questioned, coming out of her dreamy thoughts of them together.
