It wasn't long before the pair got to their destination, and what a lovely place had he found for her! The soothing sound of calm water could be heard to one side, there was space enough for guests, and with a bit of work she could definitely make this place perfect for what she needed.

Trotting into the area the mare was giddy, jumpy like an excited foal. Sniffing here and there, she nosed at some of the hanging moss, testing it's strength. This place was definitely her home. Turning back towards the male, she lifted her head up high and nodded at him with the widest of grins on her muzzle. "Perrhfect!" Taking another prancing stride towards him, she gave him a swift nuzzle of thanks and then began to make one more round of the area muttering to herself.

"Move ze logs... Feed ze moss little... veetaminhs and food... Yes.... yes..." Nods, prods and inspections all played their role, but it was only a few minutes of her round as she compiled her ideas to confirm that she wanted to build here. But wait, the stallion!

Heading back over to him, she stopped before him once more and asked him for one last thing. Warm and heartfelt, she asked him calmly, "Would I be askeeng too much for a feather? To rememberh the Grheat Hunter." To make sure she was being clear, she side-stepped with her hind end so that her rump and it's adornations were apparent. Her collection of feathers could use one of his, so that she would never forget him and what he'd done for her.

Rainart watched the mare make her rounds, once, then nuzzle him, then once again. She was strange. Then again, most things seemed strange to the stallion, as he really was rather socially inept. Mares made no sense to him, and neither did most foals, but he was getting better. He had learned how to put himself out there and at least try to be social.

He listened to her mutterings but said nothing. She had thought along the same lines that he had, so he silently approved and let her muse in her own time. Patiently, he waited until she came back to him before opening his mouth to say he was going to leave, but she spoke before he got a chance to say anything.

"Feather...?" Brow furrowed and he followed her moving rump to try to understand what she was saying. And then he caught sight of the beautiful collection of colorful feathers strung up on the mare. One of his feathers? A feeling of warmth spread through Rainart, and a touch of pink graced his cheeks. What an amazing honor the mare had offered him. She obviously took very good care of her collection, and wanted to add a memento from his mane to it. How could he deny that great honor?

He stepped closer and lowered his head so that she could reach into his mane and take a feather of her choosing.

She pauses there, rump to the side, following the hunter's gaze as he slowly caught up to what she was saying about her collection. She simply wanted a feather to remember him by, it was not much to ask, but she asked humbly knowing that to some (like hers were to her) their accessories could mean much more than a simple accent.

She could not help grinning when he stepped forward with his head bowed so that she could reach up and pick a feather. She also stepped closer, rather hastily in her excitement and rubbed her neck up againt his -her thanks-, before lifting her head back up so that she could take a quick look through the feathers. It didn't matter which she took really, but she was not about to be competitive about them either. Taking the smallest could be an insult, and taking the biggest could be unintentionally rude, too. She finally picked out the most ordinary one, with blood-stains coming upto about halfway. Gently she pulled up her lips and wrapped her teeth around the feather, careful not to get it wet with saliva. Pulling back she slowly eased the feather out of his mane, making sure not to tug too hard.

Pulling her head back she smiled at the hunter and let out a small whinny, and in a short moment a squeak replied. The little mouse ran out of her mane and down her nose towards the feather, deftly pulling it away from the mare with it's intricate little paws before scurrying down her neck and towards the rest of the collection.

He stands as still as he can manage so that the mare can easily have her pick of his feathers. He got these all the time, and while he did go through the effort of having them woven into his mane, they didn't particularly mean anything to him. They were simply one of the decorations of a hunter. The skulls he wore were trophies, so those were different, those were a symbol to him. Each of them meant something very special to him, each a different lesson that he had learned from.

His eyes first followed the mare, and though he flinched when she nuzzled him, otherwise he stood perfectly still. Appreciation was something that was still strange to him. Most others were more emotional than he was, and expression was something that he was only slowly managing to learn through the valiant and dedicated efforts of his lifemate, Ariadne.

Scanning the area since the mare had gotten too close for him to see properly, Rainart was making sure once more that nothing was sneaking up on them. Afterall, though he suggested the area as there was no danger at this very moment, didn't mean that there couldn't be something that would come back. His thoughts were distracted, however, by the mare finally pulling away with one of his blood-soaked feathers.

Eyes followed the mouse, and though his instincts told him to lunge out and snatch it up real quick, he resisted. The mouse was her friend, and though he didn't understand, he respected the kind mare. He would not kill her critter. It was a strange concept, though, to keep a friend so small and so easy to crush underhoof...

A few moments later, the mouse was all done her delicate task of attaching the new feather to the growing collection. Nodding happily she stretched her neck out so that her soft nose nudged the mouse in her thanks. Her warm snort ruffled the mouse's tousled fur and it chipped at her before scuttling down her side and hind leg, running into the nearby brush, obviously to do a perimeter check of it's own.

Chuckling, Buu turned back to the stallion and offered her thanks one last time. "You are alwayhs welcome here, Grheat Hunter. I wear your feather happily, and remember you by it." Nodding at him, she then turned to take another lap of the area, noting certain things in her mind for later work and projects. Turning her head back towards the kind stranger, she called out to him as he left, "If you everh need shelter or healing, my care is just a question away. I will not forhget you."

Nodding he was about to lift his hoof and turn to leave, but then he heard a kind voice in his head, as if Ariadne was whispering to him and guiding him as she so often did. 'Use your manners. Say thank you, she will understand.'

Nodding once more to the voice in his head, he opened his mouth and spoke aloud to the strange mare. "Thank you. Will remember you..." glancing around, his eyes did a circle of the open area and he added, "... and here." An awkward but kind smile followed. He thought he was doing pretty well. But it was definitely time for him to go. He had to get back to his family and to check on his other regular hunt areas.

As a last thought he added one simple warning to be taken in the lightest of moods. "Careful of swamp's hunters. Bite back, and fight quickly." He spoke almost as strangely as she did, but in a different way. Somehow, the two didn't seem to have any issues understanding each other. Both were foreign, even though this stallion had grown up in the Kawani lands. But even those that couldn't understand could respect, and this kind mare would not go forgotten.
