Silence, oh yes, they all tried that, but it was generally only a matter of time before he got something out of them. But this one was strong, perhaps he shouldn't underestimate her, perhaps she would be one of the silent ones. And then... then, she jerked her head to face him. He saw... passion in her eyes. She held her ground, but none had ever looked him in the eyes, not like this. Sometimes with pleads for mercy, but never like this. All he allowed himself to do in reaction was raise an eyebrow. Just one, and only the slightest. He grinned. He would make an exception.

Loosening his grip on her neck as the other set of talons came away from her chest, only to grasp her muzzle, lightly this time and without any force, he merely wanted to hold her muzzle for a moment, not pierce it with those dark, blood-stained claws. He stared her down for a few seconds, before pulling away entirely. In that one fluid motion, his left paw came to the ground leaving blood streaked across her muzzle and as his right untangled itself from her hair he took a snip of her hair, almost from the very nape of her neck but even so, the strand was long. "Your misery does not end here, sweetest. I can't snatch it away from you now." Eyes flicked back over to hers, "Not yet. Another day, another time. When you have something to lose, darling. But not until then." Her strand of hair wrapped around his claws, would be coming with him. A souvenir, to remember her by. Perhaps he would later have it woven into his own hair, perhaps not.

Nyx Queen of Darkness

Aella felt his claws coming off of her and she stood her ground. She fused her limbs to the ground, so as not to move. She wouldn't show him this weakness. Her eyes kept burning into his. The heat of the desert burned in her. It was the fires of home, the fire of her people coursing through veins. She'd survived a hundred suns pushing the heat down on her. She had been tested and tempered. She kept her tongue.

His head dipped as he took a step to the side, and his gaze looked up at her from under his brow as his body turned until his side and his turned head were what faced her. His tail swept back and forth at the ground a few times, stirring up leaves and dirt and dust and whatever else may have come across it's path. His hair fell to both sides of his face, long and dark, almost part of his expression, but the most impish part of all would have to be his half-smile. One side of his face was smiling, wrinkling the various scars he bore, while the other showed only the faintest of tells that it was trying (however slightly) to follow suit. But having grasped this mare by the heartstrings in the foulest of ways, Skah saw little need to stick around for much longer. He began to contemplate what thoughts he would leave this female behind with. "Not even a thank you?" Voice dripping with sarcasm, it was sickening even to him, "No matter! I will leave you in one piece, this time. All the better for others to mourn you when you finally do depart this wretched world of ours." Beginning to turn around, his strides almost seemed like a prowl. Head tossing, he wasn't finished yet, "That is of course, if you manage to find anyone to pity you with their precious time." The smallest of pauses, both in speech and step, "Anyone at all." On that last word, another crack of his tail, quieter than the last, but still accenting.

Nyx Queen of Darkness

She could feel her mouth hanging open from the odd angle of how he had her neck. Her skin burned where his claws raked down her, she wanted to tear out his eyes--to fight like her people did over all that was evil. But they and that world were long gone.

His words sank in, and she felt relief that he was leaving. Then the feeling settled in, for a moment--she had lived and now she was back in this lonely world. Alone. Terribly alone. Maybe that was what inspired her retort, "Better to be pitied than hated."

He paused for half a second when the mare retorted, one claw mid-step his head turned back so that he could glance back at the mare with one eye. Gaze piercing, the stallion merely offered a knowing smirk. He needed not say anything more, he knew that he had planted a seed. Now it was just up to her how much it would affect her down the line.

Turning his head back and continuing on his way, Skah pondered at what had just happened. It was truly wonderful, it was, how he could let his work continue even without having to be there himself. Of course, it was never as effective as he could inflict with his own claws, but even the thought of a smidgeon of his ire and terror working his will without him present was enough to cause the stallion some amusement.
