With all the buffs and crit attacks on cool down, the archer only had the normal attacks to throw at the beast. Still, they hit. IT COUNTED.

She laughed, " BWUAHAHAHA " at the pathetic mudkipz burning form. When it fought back she charged and shield bashed the beast!
She both blocked 9 DMG and HURT the monster for 9 DMG in one hit!

The mudkip struck back like the Empire did after the Death Star got popped, Sammy was sent tumbling backwards coughing and wheezing it was very displeasing. She thought, man someone must have turned this mudkip onto something strong.
Well she better play him a song with a funky break.
So she wound up another pitch and chucked more flaming fear at it.
Dmg 9, Def 5, No Crit

"EFF YOU MUDKIP!" The well-spoken tank howled at the beast and DOVE IN FRONT OF SAMMY. "I will save you!"
Her heroics, of course, lessened the amount of damage she could do and as an armored glove flew off of her hand, it hit the mudkip for 4 DMG. Her shield blocked 5 DMG.. but she also bore the brunt of Sammy's own damage!
[HP :: 36 - (15 - 5) = 26 (minus sammy's damage too @_@ ) ]
