"They're mine," Barth said nervously. "Were they out in the hallway? You're...bleeding," he said, an understatement as Christof literally fell apart.
"Here, look, I'll- sorry," he moved to the edge of the bed, repeating in a more frayed, "Sorry," as the once-nasty writhing wall withered away to nothing. The thorns peeled back, the leaves curled, everything shrank, and the room was completely clear again.
As if it had never happened, except for Christof's stains and injuries.
Barth looked concerned, and guilty.
"I should have known. Something like this was bound happen eventually. ...I'm sorry. I'll have another talk with Malcolm, I can...I can just go back to stopping them..."

The hunchback flinched as the vines began to recede, which only baffled him further. Anger subsiding a bit as the immediate danger lessened, his brows furrowed with more concern as he watched the Sloth's pathetic apologies. His expression softened, and he heavily sat on the end of the bed, rubbing the back of his head a moment before signing more slowly, (and with his spare hand), 'What-happened? Your's? Is-it-demon-thing?"

"Y-yes. I ssssuppose you haven't noticed them. Well, you have now, obviously. They've been, haha, a bit of a bother lately," Barth wrung his hands. "I wanted to get them under control again, but Malcolm thought I should let them grow out."
"What happened to you? They - they attacked you?"

'Had-to-dig-my-way-in,' Christof gestured, brows now knit with worry. 'Grow-out? Did-not-know-you-were...' he hesitated, fingers curling as he searched for the right word, 'thorny'. Again, he rubbed the back of his head in a nervous gesture, not sure of what to make of the situation. 'Where-come-from? Specific.' Was it some sort of curse gone awry? He knew the demon dappled in spells, there had to be some sort of cure in one of those books he pretended he didn't open.

"They come from me," Barth tried not to think about what had possessed Christof to dig through a thorn thicket.
"They always have. I've just sort of...kept them from it."

From him? The hunchback cocked his head to the side, thinking it through before signing, 'Never-seen-them. Kept-them-well-I-guess. Room-thick-with-it! Solid! Dangerous!'

"I know," Barth said, miserably. "I am really sorry."

Christof glowered, but his expression softened with a sigh, gingerly reaching to pat Barth's shoulder. After a few moments of awkwardness, he lifted his free hands to sign, 'Maybe-drink-lots-of-weed-killer?'

"Demon, not undead. I think err, I think I'm the only one that would kill. It won't happen again. I can...get them back down. It's...it's just a matter of concentration, I'm sure, and not needing them. Malcolm said they're about protection, but they're...they're mostly just a nuisance. Look what they did to you. Eventually they're going to do something much more serious."
Barth was nearing despair.
"I only meant to do a little experimenting."

Christof glanced around at the now-devoid-of-thorns room, lips pursing and hands rising, 'Would-hate-to-see-a-lot-of-experimenting.'

Barth blanched at that. "It would be better if I didn't."

Christof stared, still looking tattered and bloodied and slightly exhausted from the ordeal as he took in the room. 'Build-thorn-cutter-device-maybe?'

Barth sighed. "No," he said. "You won't have to worry about it again. I'll get it sorted."

'If-you-need-help...' The hunchback eagerly signed, concern still on his face, 'Do-you-need-anything-now?'

Barth shook his head. "No. I...I do appreciate the concern. On your part. I'm alright. ...Do you need anything?"
