SO. Apparently Wonder Woman has a dad now, and it's Zeus. Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it's kind of cool she has a dad to rebel against now too. This perhaps makes her more relatable to me in a way. On the other hand, I can also read this as her powers now being derived from another all-mighty d**k (read that symbolically, I guess like a synecdoche) rather than the resistant group of goddesses with the whole abused primal woman coming back for payback thing. (I know Hermes was in there too somewhere, but he's cool somehow). I'm wondering what your thoughts on this are.
I guess I should actually read the comic too. I just got this from the New York Post.

I never cared much for her original origin because I always roll my eyes when writers invoke Aphrodite so heavily. Really? Couldn't think of a better, more relevant and less stupid goddess? Artemis perhaps? She was ALL ABOUT woman power. People always grope for the same two goddesses in the pantheon. I get that Ares is the "evil" god so you can't ever bring up his roll as Hippolyta's father, but come on.
So daughter of Zeus...eh, I buy it more than the other origins. It's not like there aren't a whole plethora of b*****d offspring all down the generations because of the Philandering God. It doesn't make this statuesque demi-god any more relateble to me, but it does sound a lot better to me than the Pygmalion rehash (boy that Aphrodite sure did love her some golems).

I know you were all probably really worried about the new Catwoman book. Despite consistently squeezing out at least a few tears for six issues, she remained dry eyed for two and a half issues (I'm counting 9 as a half since she did the wibble face). But worry not!
She's back to bawling her eyes out in issue ten, and a misery make-out session! You know when a girl feels beat down and broken and alone, all you can do is the tongue tango. It's like doing shots, only you get oral herpes instead of ******** you, DC.

Rando-dude in a hoodie. He's been in two issues, I don't know his name. Making out with strangers! Awesome!

I don't really like my women to be doing much stuff in my comics, it's so unrealistic. Do you have any idea how many nails Catwoman would break if she did stuff? It's a lot.

Good news. I hope. Catwoman gets a new creative teamI don't know anything about this person. But she' can't be any worse then the last guy.

Seriously. They should just be shown in the kitchen making sandwiches or doing laundry. Making it seem as if women do things is craaaazy.

Unfortunately I read Ann's Newsarama interview where she assured reader about fifty times Catwoman would still be "sexy," and don't worry, she doesn't prescribe to that crazy brand of feminism that hates sexy things and thinks sexy things are gross and oppressive. Because of course the problem with Catwoman is the sexy things. Like crying. Not doing stuff. Getting tied to a chair and beat up repeatedly. Killing all her friends. God I hate sexy things.

God I hate sexy things. None of those sound sexy .... 3nodding When I think of sexy I think of a woman who kicks butt and looks good while doing it. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks strong women are sexy... sweatdrop

Man, I miss the issues where Catwoman had adventures, all the way back in 2004.
