"A man after my own heart, aren't you ?" Her free hand rose up in a way that was clearly meant to initiate a bro-fist.
"We can call it the lantern stick of justice. Maybe." Hesperis was indeed very creative with names. Her stick was rather lovingly nicknamed the pwnstick.
Who cared about originality when it did it's job, really.
"I mean that I don't get to watch many movies." And also that she didn't especially want to explain in details. It wasn't Babylon, really - Hesperis just hated to talk about what her life outside the coat was like. The whole no one can recognize you while you're powered part of this whole knight business was her second-favorite part.
The first being, of course, beating s**t up.
Now, she was leaning against her staff, scanning the area for anything that stood out. Babylon had probably already done that, but a fresh look always helped, right ? "But I'll try to see it." Maybe.

"It would appear that I am," replied Babylon agreeably enough as he completed the bro-fist. He wasn't into girls, but he liked to think that if he was they might be girls like Hesperis... if Hesperis hadn't looked like she was the same age as his sister. Although Hesperis was infinitely cooler than Leah might ever be, and about a dozen times more mature and less obnoxious. (That was not hard to do, anyone who knew Leah Derouen would tell you.)
"Lantern Stick of Justice is a good name," the squire agreed, moving on to the next tree. "And I'm not saying you've gotta see a lotta movies, I mean, hell, I don't see a lotta movies, but you do have to make sure the ones you see are good movies and that you see them with good people." Good company could make or break an ok movie, push a good movie into great, or elevate a bad movie to 'charmingly campy.' Which was why Babylon liked to sneak into free outdoor screenings with Vindemiatrix by his side and call it patrol.
Kneeling again, he brushed through the leaf litter at the base of this tree. The roots were a messy tangle full of dark nooks and crannies - Babylon held his lantern closer, looking for a glint of metal. He waved Hesperis over.
"Do you see anything?" he asked, gesturing at the shadows. "I wish I had, like, super finding stuff powers, but no... I get to improve other people's aim. It doesn't even work on me. Believe me, I've tried."
It hadn't ended well.

Unlike what some might think from her apparence and demeanor, Hesperis was completely and utterly into dudes, through she had only recently entered the phase where boys were interesting rather than just the individuals that didn't whine and b***h when you tried to wrestle them doing recess.
Mostly, anyway.
"I dunno who I'd take to see a movie, through." Erika... was more into books. Beside Erika ? Uh. Annwn... Maybe... Kinda... Probably not. He totally had better things to do than go see movies with her, right ?
The good thing about her skintone - it was hard to see her blush.
"You what ?" Yeah, she'd met the great total of one squire before, and said squire hadn't gone in detail about his abilities.
Still, she croutched by the pile of leaves to get a better look. "Ummm... Oh, I think I see something glinting !"

"I boost other people's accuracy," clarified Babylon, his tone of voice indicating he thought it was sort of a lame ability. "The lights of Babylon will always guide you or some s**t like that. Doesn't mean I can score a hit to save my life." Well, he could, but it didn't mean he was getting any help. Babylon held his lantern closer to the hole, shining more light down into the hollow place.
There was no doubt about it - something was glittering in the darkness.
He gav Hesperis a gentle nudge.
"Why don't you reach in there and see what we've got?" he suggested, suddenly feeling bad about his earlier prank. What if he'd put her off reaching into holes after mysterious artifacts? Then they'd be in a right spot - or he'd have to hand over the lantern and do it himself.

She pointedly didn't mention that she ended up with her a** kicked most of the time. Nope. Babylon didn't need to do that.
If she'd been able to hear his thought, she would have asked him what did he think she was, a p***y ?! Because, well, Babylon hadn't even finished his sentence that Hesperis' gloved hand was inside the pile - the glow of her own glove helped, really.
"Hnnnn..." She pulled out a small object, obviously glinting metal, through she had no idea what the hell it was, beside very obviously a small bowl. "Is that the kinda thing you're looking for ?"

Babylon leaned in, cocking his head at the sight of the strange little bowl. It definitely had the look of an artifact - something worth showing to Virgo for sure, whether or not it was actually an altar piece or just something gone missing from the outpost. "Yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing we're looking for!" he exclaimed, hopping to his feet and offering her a chivalrous hand.
"We should go show it to Virgo later - here, I've got a pocket," He reached out and plucked the bowl delicately from Hesperis's fingers. "That'll keep it from getting lost until we find her." He patted his pocket. "Fifty-fifty on the credit, huh?"
Babylon thought he was being generous, given that it was his idea to look in the first place. But perhaps Virgo would value teamwork, and he wanted Hesperis to like him first and foremost. The squire could deal with taking a bit less credit than he thought he deserved if it was going to get him ahead in the long run.
"Yeah," he laughed, looking again at her rather fierce bo-staff. "I wish I could whack s**t until it goes up in dust. Before the lantern I had a glow stick. Hardly a mighty weapon, if I do say so myself. Some nights I thought about ditching and just going to a rave."

She took his hand - not that she needed it, of course, but he'd probably have been insulted if she'd refused.
Boys could be odd like that, she'd noticed. "Cool with me."
Blink. "Wait, a glowstick ? Okay, that's pretty bad. At least you can whack things with a lantern." It did make her wonder what her weapon would become.... Hn.

"Yeah," laughed Babylon self-depreciatingly. "It was pretty awful." He could say that in retrospect, of course, but at the same time he still remembered how devastated he'd been when he thought his glowstick had been broken, lost, and gone forever.
"It's actually pretty cool, I guess," he added. "I mean, it's the light of Babylon. Or so my ancestor tells me." Actually, his ancestor seemed pretty adamant that it was an echo of the light of Babylon, but that was less impressive and the squire wasn't inclined to dwell on semantics.
"Well then..." he shrugged awkwardly at her. "I guess we should head back - Ke$ha dance party on the way?" Because it wasn't every day that he met someone else who appreciated the lyrical genius of Take it Off, and he was going to milk it for all it was worth. New best friend? He certainly thought so.

A giant blue glowing stick. Not to be confused with a glowstick. Not the same thing !
....The idea that she pretty much owned an oversized version of Babylon's page weapon was kinda hillarious, actually.
"Yeah, let's." Her stick vanished, back to... wherever it went to when she wasn't holding it. Who knew. "Im prettty hungry..."
