Read the book; "Monsters, An investigators guide to magical beings" Yes, I know, I should post this in the library, but what it says about the creatures of fae are very informational. Not to mention it's chapter on magical self defense. Do you know what to do if you are face to face with a vampire?

a quick fun-fact. More common fays are short,(4-5 feet) a brownish color most of the time, simple clothing...or non at all. whee , They have large heads and big eyes. Now, on to the fun-fact!
Most recent (Since the fortees) sightings of aliens, will have some relation to reproduction of the human. Most fay lore state that fays will capture human babys in order to strenghthen their weakening bloodline. Or spend the night with a human for "reproduction" puposes. Is there a connection? I personaly say, yes.

Ok well this book I'm reading is very informative! I will make lessons on it when I have time...
*cough* According to the book I am reading, faeries have never done that to babies. They are simply here to help heal and act as guides. They are like the spiritual guides of animals as angels are to us.

When you say faeries, do you mean spirits? they are two totaly diffrent things. No offense, but that book sounds like it describes fays as tools to be used by us. Althgough they are far from human, they are people to you know. They will react as we act upon them. Just like you and me would. If someone told you to do something, would you at least question them as to why they are asking that of you?

what is a fay? And Vampires are evil, i dont belive in them and i do not appriciate them being talked about on my board. Please, if your going to be talking about anything evil, take it somewhere else. We are talking about Faeries, as in the little earthish people with wings, the healing, friendly little people who love honey. Not Spirits.

I never said anything about using them. All I said was they are here to help and act as guides. No I do not mean spirits. I know faeries are living things. They are part of this world to, I know. They have earthly bodies as we do. They are effected by poisons just as we are. They guard and teach just as angels do. They are not here to serve, they are here to help. Question yes, everything we do. they try to guide us on the right path. They have families and homes just as we do. Do not tell me I don't know what I'm talking about please.
*twitch* um, back to the topic now...

So, I have a question about faeries (fairies...both spellings are correct, if I'm not mistaken). How does one interact and learn from faeries?

Well from what I understand the fairies have to trust you before they let you see them/interact with them. What I'm trying is just going around and picking up trash. Go on walks everyday near flowers and bushes. Be overly kind. This is what my experiance has taught me. It may not work for you though sorry, everyone is different when they try to communicate with nature. But do try to help the environment, the fairies I'm sure would love to talk to us then, (Yes I think both spellings are right too)

I believe they are a symbol of healing, but, personally, I don't believe they exist.

~ I doubt anyone here had grown up with fairies prominent in local superstition.
If a fairy catches you unaware at night in their groves, woods or marshes they will lead you astray cause your sense of time to leave you and sometimes even lead you to your death in pools of water or off cliffs. There are legends of men who've cut through marshes as the quick way home at night and while they stumbled out of the thicket in the morning after what they thought to be a night in the woods, have come home to find their wives remarried because they had been gone for years. Or a girl that got lost in the bog, terrorized by fairies and no one would come to her aid for fear of the little folk and she died in there, now luring others to their death because they wouldn't help her. There is the hag, the queen of the fairies that will come into one's room accompanied by an angry man in the figure of a shadow at night and paralyz you, sit on your chest to squeeze the breath out of you, taunt you, ridicule you, tell you the horrible things they will do and you can't move to stop them. They steal children and replace them with horribly disfigured creatures and to repell this people put iron above the crib. Iron repells fairies, and because traditionally fairies are nothing but bad luck, it is why horse shoes which were made of iron are considered good luck. (I have also noticed many people who hang horse shoes, hang them upside down. They should be hung like a smile not a frown or the good luck will pour all out like out of a jug.)
Lest of all you want to be caught disturbing their homes, cutting single trees or small grottos in the middle of cleared fields, upturning holes lined and capped with stone like a hut covering a tunnel deep into ground. The very last thing you want to do is mark yourself so they come to wreck your life in revenge.
All this fairies are good, stuff is a more modern invention and created by people knowing only very little of the tales surrounding fairies possibly hearing of them and not fully understanding them or writing it off as superstition; thinking that good fairies would make for goodd stories. Honey is only to try to appease them. Fairies are dangerous entities. ~

Correction. Faeries are playful and peacful people. There are however 'over playful' faeries. I cant name any by heart but they only mean well. If they lead someone into the middle of no where its a test to see if the human will trust himself and nature to get back to where he/she started. When faeries lead people places, its for a purpose. As I said before, they are playful and often have short attention spans so if they start to lead you somewhere they will offen get bored of you and they will leave you, later to come back for you because they mean no harm, and do not want to give a bad name to them selves. Now, what your are talking about may be shape shifters, who can change shape to any magical creature, human, or object. I dont know the name for this in a magical term. Hope i cleared things up for everyone.
