Yamile felt more confident as she continued on her path, guided by the male, whom she'd started a conversation with and again forgot to ask a name, which was called to her attention when she was called stranger. She looked to him, but true to her word she kept her eyes closed. "My name is Yamile, sorry I should have introduced myself sooner."

She gave a small smile, "Will you give me your name," she asked in a soft polite voice. She continued to walk, but nodded to the question he present before, "and yes I accept your challenge. Maybe we can even race back, no guiding needed."

She gave a small chuckle, "I really think I could make it back no problem, you are a great guide." To prove her point she did a happy trott feeling less unbalanced.

Yamile. It was as good a name as any and some how, even though his image of the lioness was distorted by a lack of visibility, her personality and mannerisms seemed to suit her moniker. Humming a small, dismissive note at the apology that caught him off guard. Ozark hadn't exactly lent any indication that he was interested in such things as introductions so there was no real blame to place. Offering his own name mildly, Ozark.

Acknowledging how heavy and cumbersome his own title was in comparison to Yamile's light, airy one the lion off the mountainside grimaced inwardly. Turning his attention outward with a faint smile as her silky voice accepted the proposal courageously. Speaking with a note of admiration as his own large paws picked up a leisurely jog to keep pace when the lioness changed speeds. Brave..

He could certainly appreciate a girl who jumped in head first. The small chuckle that escaped his maw surprising even Oz as he bobbed his head in agreement. If you think you can keep up..

Yamile though on the name ... Ozark, it sounded like a warriors name to her and oddly enough it seemed very fitting for the blind lion. "I like your name," she said softly.

Trotting was a little harder that she thought it would be, but Yamile most certainly wasn't going to back out of her own challenge. She had no doubt that he would beat her soundly, but it really didn't matter because the moment was rather fun. "Bravery is a matter of opinion," she said in a light tone, "and I will have no problem keeping up." The latter was a lie, which would only have been a truth if Yamile ran with her eyes open.

Trotting she wasn't as aware of the sound around her so she knew real conversation would have to wait for a complete stop, but she did ask, "How much further to the creek?" She hardly thought on whether the lion could answer the question, fore he didnt seem any less capable than anyone else.

She liked his name? Well, Ozark supposed he couldn't complain about it. It had a ruggedness to it that embodied him. Life was hard, but in being so it had made him harder. Apparently, in her ignorance his mother had known what she was doing when she had chosen the name, go figure. Still, had he known what she thought of it, he might have laughed. Even if he had learned how to cope with his blindness and become efficient enough to survive, Oz was no warrior. Nothing even remotely of the sort. He liked her name better, but judging names was a relative matter of opinion, so instead of mentioning it the stoic lion remained quiet a while longer.

Or perhaps he would have, if she hadn't been reading his mind. A cordial smile touching the edges of his muzzle despite his disagreement, Taste is a matter of opinion. Bravery is a matter of action. It can't be dispelled so easily.

Yamile was strangely easy to talk to considering Ozark couldn't remember the last time he'd ever said more than two words to a stranger in passing. His voice, even though it possessed the weight of a bolder, was breezy as they traveled across the savannah. If he was having trouble maintaining his breath he certainly didn't possess any signs of discomfort, answering the question lightly after his nose wrinkled with the taste of the air. Measuring time and distance had always proven a difficult task for him, but over the years the pioneer had come to use his own gait as a method of calculating such things. Mmh.. thirty strides or so at this pace, still think you can keep up?

Talking and trotting wasn't Yamile's friend at the current moment, cause if she she talking then it was harder to focus on where she was going, but at the same time she couldn't just not answer Ozark, so she kept up the conversation of course. She was often alone and well not everyone she came across was so receptive to her.

"That is true, but one feels in brave another might feel is cowardly. There are some actions that an inherently brave, but other's some would feel are questionable," she said still contradicting his statement although she admitted an agreement.

Thirty paces, didn't sound to bad and they were trotting so it wouldn't be to far off, "I can keep up, just keeping guiding my in the right direction. This is an interesting experience. One in which I am enjoying, one from which I may benefit, or even other's if you are ever inclined to repeat this endeavor.

She felt like she should be counting, but also felt confident Ozark would not let her run straight into the creek.

Even if he couldn't think of any particularly poignant examples the male also couldn't necessarily disagree with Yamile's point. Feeling the grass continually shifting beneath his paws Ozark stopped short suddenly when the blades that grazed against his legs was suddenly missing. Something was crushing it, bending it so that it didn't sprout like the rest. Leaning his chest forward and leading with his nose the blind rogue must have looked rather strange, sniffing ahead of them. He didn't smell any other animals in the immediate vicinity which could only mean there was something inanimate in their way.

Lifting his paw to reach out and touch the hard, gnarled texture of bark, climbing up and over the log with little effort at all Ozark suddenly remembered he wasn't alone. Alarm filling his voice as he barked sharply. Careful!

Calming quickly as he explained further, there's a tree here.

Waiting for Yamile to reach him on the other side--an experience that should have proved amusing, blue eyes stared blankly. Benefit? I don't think many would willingly hinder themselves..

The warning about the tree came a bit too late for Yamile, she swerved to avoid it believing it to be an upright tree, but only realized it was a fallen log after it was too late to stop, leaving her with only the option of jumping, which she did quickly.

Miraculously she clear the tree, her body stretching out to avoid it, but she did not stick the landing, taking a tumble as he paws landed awkwardly. She groaned slightly as she picked herself up. "I need a bath," she said opening her eyes and looking over her now dust colored fur. It was suppose to be white.

Yamile frowned slightly, "You be surprised how much this little experience could help someone. Honing ones sense would be very beneficial. I mean, you managed to avoid that little obstacle without a tumble, but I was not so lucky."

She laughed lightly, "that was fun, but I do not think I'm up for anymore racing. I think a dip in the stream will be more managable."

Grimacing at the sound of Yamile's tumble the broad, powerful lion jogged lightly to where he'd heard her land. Drawing up short just near her side, though how he knew exactly where she was or how soon to stop to keep from stepping on her was a mystery Ozark would never be able to explain to satisfaction, staring blues softened with apology. He should have been paying better attention to the female following him, but the blind rogue wasn't exactly accustomed to having company. Sorry.

Tilting his head back towards the fallen tree behind them as if he could actually see it Oz lifted his shoulders nonchalantly, less than impressed with himself. After all, it had taken him all his life to come to be as capable with his impairment as he was now as an adult. Admitting mildly, I doubt I'd make a capable teacher... I learned out of necessity.

With a bob of understanding, the bi-color male could understand her reluctance to continue this peculiar experiment after her tumble. Continuing his steady pace towards the stream which was far closer now, nose leading the way towards the fresh water source. Not much further now.

"It's okay," she said softly, not really overly phased by the tumble. It hurt, but she was no worse for the wear. A dip in the stream would fix her right up.

She shook her head at his doubt and said, "you shouldn't doubt yourself. Trust me, okay?"

She blinked when it seemed they would continue on and she quickly closed her eyes, not sure whether he knew she had glimpsed the now much closer stream. She moved closer to Ozark not wanting to take another tumble and paid closer attention now. Odd how a tumble made you more cautious, she almost laughed.

"I smell the water," she said nonchalantly, even if she had just seen it, with her eyes close she noticed the smell more.

Brushing his side lightly against her own to provide support, after her little tumble Ozark was surprised Yamile was willing to continue on this blind adventure. Only able to tell by the difference in her gait, his shaggy head canted awkwardly, attempting to let her off the hook guiltily. You did well, you can look.. if you want..

Walking now though he was, long strides proved to traverse the distance quickly enough that the sweet scent of running water was soon cascading over the area. A quiet, but pleased smile touching Oz's maw at observation Yamile made. She seemed to pick things up with startling speed, but it was a trait he had to admire. Musing more to himself than the stranger he was guiding as the land dipped and long legs splashed into the creek bed fearlessly. Tail switching as the currents swept against his legs, unable to steal his sturdy sense of balance. You're a strange one.. asking me for trust when I'm the one leading you in the dark.

Yamile appreciated the closeness of Ozark, it would be much harder to take a tumble that way, not that not running didn't help. She shook her head when she told her she could open her eyes. "It was an automatic reaction to open them when I fell, but I will be fine to have them closed until we reach the water. It isn't overly far. Beside this is rather fun, though I'm not certain you would think that."

She yawned feeling a little tired, continuing to walk on, but she perked up at the sound a splashing causing her to go splashing into the water as well, opening her eyes as she reached the end of her little blind journey. "It is often the strangest that you find great friend in," she said with a soft laugh. She did not consider herself strange, but strange definitely to her was a fairly good thing.

"After a bath, I think I shall have a nice long nap. How about you?"

Fun? I wouldn't know.. What did Ozark honestly know about fun? He'd only ever had himself to play with as a youth, his agemates as much as the rest of the pride avoided him like a plague back then. There had never been much time for fun or play. They were foreign concepts to the lion. His head dipping until the tips of his whispers tapped against the surface of the cool water, lapping at it simply to give himself something to do besides speak. Really, he was so awkward at it.

When Yamile joined him, gliding into the river with as much grace as anything else she did, her words gentle and somehow reassuring, Oz lifted his head. Ears swiveling forward to listen to her smooth approach. It certainly seemed that her vote of confidence was subjective, but he understood the sentiment given that his own "great friend" seemed to be solitude. Enjoy it. I need to keep moving...

A parting sort of smile touching his muzzle as he sloshed further into the creek until he had reached the other side. Strong strides kicking the way up the steep, muddy shore until the tall frame was free of the rushing currents, glancing over his shoulder as he shook himself vigorously. Take care. Yamile.

Unfamiliar with proper etiquette, Ozark didn't wait for a response before picking up a brisk pace again, wandering off towards the distant horizon.
