@Rath; rofl, ok at least you have a leather jerkin on. I mean true you could go for the other shoulder, but your a mercenary, not affording high quality armor, or even a complete set, is understandable. Not to mention you don't continuously dull your blade by tossing it into the ground.

Requiem Arc @Rath; rofl, ok at least you have a leather jerkin on. I mean true you could go for the other shoulder, but your a mercenary, not affording high quality armor, or even a complete set, is understandable. Not to mention you don't continuously dull your blade by tossing it into the ground. It also affects speed and flexibility while fighting. Swing the sword freely with the arm that has no shoulder guard and guard with the shoulder that does have it. As for the 'sword in ground' thing, we don't actually ever see him put it in the ground, we see him pull it out- now, obviously, this means he had to have first put it there, but he's not just sticking it there randomly during his fight. The animation is purely for dramatic affect, the same with every other FE animation out there- or have actions like the GBA hero animation suddenly started making sense with that shield thing? wink

Okay, my first reaction... TOTALLY STOKED. And I was like THESE CHARACTER DESIGNS ROCK AND EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS. Then the FE high wore off and I took another look and I was like, wait... And it was this. This exactly: Nomad Rath what in the <********> is that one girl wearing on her head?! Seriously >_> The character art in FE10 is the best they've ever had, hands down, that's it man. Whoever that artist/character designer was, I wanted them to keep that person forever and never let go. That art was perfect, the most beautiful mix of anime and realism I've ever seen in my LIFE, GDI. Not to mention it perfectly maintained the style of previous FE games while still updating it. And now... this FE3DS art is... pretty, the characters are attractive, but it's just... so typical animoo. :C I'm really disappointed. It totally breaks the continuity of that FE style. The same thing happened to the character designs of Ragnarok Online, if anyone out there knows of it! But at least it's not HIDEOUS... I guess... My other biggest concern is... WILL THERE BE SUPPORTS? ;_; That was admittedly what I missed most in FE10... Sure, the tactics are awesome, but what I played this series for most was the AMAZING characters and even AMAZINGER story. I thought that supports were the freakin' coolest. I loved that having them fight side by side increased their relationship. That was just the best thing to me. It almost felt like they were weaning it off by dulling the support system in FE9 and then just taking it out in FE10... So, I really really hope FE3DS gets supports back. >_< What're the chances that'll happen? ;v;...

They didn't dull them in FE9. o_o Supports dulled in 10 and vanished in 11.
But yes, I think we all hope this game will have supports; if IS knows their FE fans at all, then they'll know that there should be supports.

Oh, pfft. Am I getting my numbers mixed up? rolleyes My bad. You guys get what I mean!! xD
Yeah, I'm hoping that... maybe 11 just didn't have them because it was a remake, so... well, the original probably didn't have supports, right? The reason I'm concerned, though, is because of the way it was in 10. They killed the conversation part of it which is kinda what I was in it for, in favor of more... tacticalness, it seems. >v>
Which is fine, but... to be honest I'm someone who doesn't play tactical games, Fire Emblem being one of the very few exceptions. If they take out the features that made this game stand out to me above other tactical games... well... :c
And the art has already been a loss with me! It also doesn't help that I don't own a 3DS... Things are lookin' bleak, FE13... ;_;

My initial reaction of course was to squee that IS is coming out with a brand new FE, and not a remake that might not even get localized (I would have still liked to play FE12 plzthx.)
The typical anime art though is kind of a letdown, now that I look back and... the Lord's name (from what Rath said in the IM conversations) is KROM? Really? That's kind of... well, it doesn't sound as heroic as Ike or Hector or Eliwood to me. It sounds kind of... lame.
-Edit from Serenes info.-
Oh, that girl Liz is his sister? But they look less alike than Ike and Mist! Dx
(That double-attacking animation looks cool though, I wonder if that's what happens when you get supports. O: )

Well let's not jump to conclusions on names, right yet. Remembering back to when RD was soon coming out, Micaiah's name was first listed as nothing like what it turned out to be. I also think Sothe had a different name, but we knew it was him regardless. Japanese names change in translation, basically. Not every name changes, but I don't think there's any localized game that hasn't had at least one character was a translation name change.

This is definitely very exciting especially if they manage to link supports with the cross-unit attacking. I've always wanted two of my supported units to team up and bash the enemy in a dual strike, though I suppose the experience gained would be shared between units, which makes me wonder how that would work between a prepromote and an unpromoted unit. In that case Intelligent Systems should be smart enough to use that to their advantage to make the game even more exciting with units that both support with added bonuses and team up to deal devasting blows to a very powerful boss who, perhaps, remains insurmountable without the team-up. It would make for an interesting ending instead of just having one person do the finishing blow it could be the lord and their -coughloveinterestcough- or closely supported companion do the job. Lyn, Eliwood, Hector triangle attack anyone? So that is something that I am looking forward to and there better be characterization in this game! Fire Emblem 1 was a remake, which is somewhat understandable, but no killing off units for Gaiden chapters. That just kills the connection between character and played in my opinion. No lazy support system like Radiant Dawn's convo system. Sure anyone can support with anyone, but that makes it more of a "war buddy" system as in everyone just teams up with anyone and all they do is fight and say random asides with increasing feeling to another. Barely any character depth whatsoever. >.>
In regard to the art...Yes, I agree that so far it is far from the typical Fire Emblem style and that it looks way too Final Fantasy for my tastes. What made Fire Emblem unique was its art style and the way the characters looked and felt. The knew game animations and battle scenes just feel like two Final Fantasy characters fighting an enemy, which just seems very wrong to me. I'm still going to withhold judgement and assumptions until the finishing touches are made to the game since a lot can change from development to release especially United States release, but what I've seen so far is a bit perturbing in regard to how the characters look. Anyway, I'm interested in what kind of story, plot, and other unique elements Intelligent Systems will add this time. Hopefully we won't get a repeat of the ending to Radiant Dawn...Pretty epic battle, but it made everything else before it seem rather pointless. Reminds me of the ending of Huckleberry Finn...Poor Jim... XD At least Huck learned something from his journey so I suppose that's all that really matters. Just the same thing can really kill people...(Oh, and I pray to the Fire Emblem Gods above that there will be NO MARY SUES OR GARY STUS in this game!!! Micaiah....It's her fault that Sothe became so one-dimensional and only cared about protecting her. Oh, and his reverence of General Ike otherwise awfully bland in Radiant Dawn....sigh)

Double teaming enemies doesn't sound like a foreign thing to me, it sort of sounds like a more in-depth two person not-so-triangle attack, but instead of dealing 100% CRTC (abused the Axefighter triangle to death in FE12, Steel Axe 100% Hit/CRTC never felt so goooooood), it just does extra damage.
What bugs me however is: why the ******** are they going back to world maps? FE2 and 8 were some of the least popular concepts in the series, so IS sort of does the "hmm, everyone hated it thus far, I know, let's try again!", people are funny.

Im worried about the double teaming myself, because i dont want enemies doing that. I hope it's support initiated, otherwise, the squishy classes are screwed lol.
