“You will.” She smiled at him. “I’m sure you will, I think you’ll be a very good Knight for whatever that means, and… and I promise I’ll try and catch Cosmos and ask her to meet you so that you can maybe learn a bit more about what it means to be one.”
She stood on tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek. “…I….I worry I should check on my family.” She whispered. “Would you be very upset?”

Daniel wished he could be as certain of this as she was - but then again, Ume always seemed to see something in him that he simply could not see or understand.
He nodded at her words, giving her hand a light squeeze. "It's okay... Be careful, alright ? And can you call me sometime tomorrow ?"
Maybe they could try their hands at another diner... without interruption this time.

“I’ll be very careful, I promise.” She nodded. “And I’ll call! We need to turn this birthday around even if it’s a day late.” She gave him a wink and a wave, she had a small lady to find, and the guardian of the cosmos to try and catch up to.
