It was probably a good thing he didn't laugh, because Valhalla wouldn't have appreciated that very much and might just never talk to him again out of spite. But because he didn't, and didn't even know it was being contemplated, all was well.
Valhalla did give the squire an odd, unimpressed look when he mentioned drag shows, not really sure how that was going to help him, but decided to forgive him. "You are kinda short," he agreed with a shrug. Hey, he could be snippy right back, couldn't he...? And it wasn't like he was lying. Babylon was rather short compared to his six foot stature.
He did stare at him when he brought up being sure Paris was a guy. "Well, yeah... he said he wasn't a girl," he said, not knowing why he was suddenly worried about the whole situation. "He lied to me, either way... whether or not he wanted to be a she or... I don't even know. We never exactly talked about it!" How could they have?? He'd kicked Paris out the moment he found out he'd been lying to him for the past several months! What? Was he supposed to have had a long conversation on whether or not he felt like a woman on the inside or wanted to be a woman or...
"No, he was a guy," he insisted, although he didn't sound all that confident. "He would have said if... if he was a transsexual..." Right...? Or had he not given him enough time...?
"It doesn't matter either way! He still lied! That's what pisses me off, not that he's a girl or... a guy or whatever!" he stumbled, not sure where he was going with that, but he was suddenly feeling rather cornered and he didn't like it.

Babylon snorted. Calling him short was like calling the sky blue: it was obvious, bordering on a cheap shot. Babylon, 5'7" in socks, short next to Valhalla (effectively a giant)? The squire sighed, "Well, you didn't have to rub it in," he said, but it wasn't really in a tone that made him sound like he wanted to argue the point.
He cocked his head curiously to one side, listening intently as the other knight fumbled his way through an explanation of his apparent-boyfriend's sexual identity. It seemed awfully confusing and the ultimate conclusion he drew from it all was that Valhalla was less concerned that his girlfriend was actually his boyfriend (Chris Gallo? Bi-Curious? Shocker of the century, Babylon would reflect later) and more concerned that he'd been conned.
"Sounds pretty ******** up," he ventured. Actually, it sounded like the plot of M. Butterfly cut short but he doubted Valhalla would get the reference. "Not pretending to be an expert on the subject of boys who like boys who pretend to be girls to date boys when there are plenty of boys out there who like boys? But you should probably, maybe, hear him-slash-her out."
And then report back to Babylon, because he wanted to hear how this worked out!

Valhalla looked slightly ashamed, realizing that he was in fact rubbing in something that Babylon couldn't change about himself. It wasn't Babylon's fault he was not as tall as Valhalla, and there really wasn't anything wrong with being short...
Still, he frowned at Babylon's suggestion, moving away from the column he was still standing near so he could peer back into the pool and make sure they'd gotten everything out of it. "Right... hear him out..." That was the advice of the century... "There's not much to hear out, I don't think... He told me that he'd only lied about being a girl, and that he didn't go to Crystal, obviously, but when to Hillworth, instead." Great... what had Paris done to get himself landed in Hillworth? Unless he really was from a living situation in which he couldn't go anywhere else...? Who knew...
"Sh- He'd said that he meant to trick me when it started... he'd done it on purpose..." But somewhere along the line... that had changed...?
"We shouldn't be loitering around here, anyway... there are other areas that need to be cleaned up," he said after a few moments, wanting to change the subject. He did pause to glance over at the other young man, shrugging lightly. "Unless you wanted help with anything else..." He was good for lifting fairly heavy things, at least.

Babylon shrugged. He'd never dated anyone who'd lied about their gender before and his entire consul of Valhalla could effectively be reduced to 'I am making s**t up.' "Talk to him," he reassured Valhalla. "Otherwise you're just gonna hate the guy until it makes you sick to your stomach and who knows, maybe it will be useful to be friends with a drag queen?"
Better question: When wasn't it useful to be friends with a drag queen? Babylon wanted to be friends with a drag queen.
"Guess I'd better go find something else to clean, yeah?" he asked, picking up his net. Probably somewhere without Valhalla, though. Whatever cosmic forces had conspired to not leave the two knights mud wrestling could not possibly stay sated for long. Talking to the other boy for this long was tempting fate.
"It was..."
God, he'd never thought he'd say this under any circumstances.
"Kind of good talking to you?" Well, it passed the time. Babylon shouldered his net and sauntered off, tossing Valhalla a salute over his shoulder as he went.
