Eeeeew~ Soy burgers. It was bad enough she struggled with the conundrum that was HAMburgers - they weren't made of ham - and thus, settled with just calling it 'burgers' but.... eew!

"I'm a member of the Meadowview debate club. I'm a senior, so this is my last year," she sounded rather excited about that. "I LARP in the park every few weeks. Not medieval myth and fantasy, but more...hm, political stuff? We focus kinda on the plight of the gypsies in early Europe. Umm.." she tried to think of a way to describe what she meant, "Ever watch Hunchback of Notre Dame? Somewhat like that."

Of course now she probably qualified as pretty damn weird. Or a hipster. She hated that term. She'd take weird over hipster any day.

"I read it ages ago, but the only version I've watched was one of the really old black and white ones." He admitted. "Sounds like an interesting game, definitely different than smacking people in green paint with boffer weapons."

That was what they were called, right? Boffers?

"Congrats on being a senior, looking forward to getting out there?" He added, grinning slightly. He knew what that felt like, he'd had to find his own place and a job, and he was still figuring out if he should reopen the lines of communication with his family. There'd been a couple voice mails... he'd deleted them impulsively, and an email (also deleted), but otherwise things were in an uncomfortable limbo. He hoped better for her. She was... nice.

"Daytime Larp or nighttime larp?" He added, curiously. He'd been cruising more around the theater area, but if there was a LARP in the park, especially at night, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try and make sure it was being watched against intrusion.

"Way better. In fact, a couple of LARPers from another group I know ended up dragged here as well. Well, not here here, I think they went to another outpost, but yeah. They're totally crazy with the magic and battles and whatnot," she rolled her eyes, finding them totally ridiculous. Of course, their turf wars added to that.

"Absolutely," she said in reply about school. "I'm not sure what I want to do after, but..." she shrugged. Nothing had ever really perked her interest. Besides, she was trying to live in the moment, enjoying what was left of her teen years before she had to become a 'responsible' adult.

"Whenever we can get time. That other group I told you about? Yeah, we kinda have to fight over the park with them." Which ended up being a pain, working around people's school and work schedules. Not to mention night was kinda dangerous now. Really dangerous.

"Sounds like a real pain in the a**." He sympathized, though he was a little jealous. Must be nice when that sort of thing was more part of your extracurricular actives. "I'm sure you'll figure something out. I mean hell, even if you get back and end up in a job you don't like, it's not like you're stuck at it forever. There's still plenty of time to sort things out. But yeah... if I were gonna go in for that sort of thing I think I'd have to go with the Gypsy political thing. Magical battles really aren't all they're cracked up to be."

Mostly because once you stopped hitting buttons on a game and started actually throwing spells it pretty much felt like regular old war.

She seemed to be feeling better anyway, which he definitely counted as a plus. Score one for the Lion King. Plus she wasn't too bad to talk to, which kinda made him wish he'd met her as a civilian, but 'if wishes were horses' and all that jazz.

((OOC: Old nursery rhyme: If Wishes were horses, beggars would ride, if turnips were watches, I'd wear one by my side."))

Oh, if only Natalia knew the true irony behind that. Magical battles indeed. She would have laughed.

"So~" Natalia looked around the room, "Cleaning, yeah..."

There was still a lot to be done. The glass was a real pain to clean up, but it had to be swept up and the floors scrubbed before people could safely lay down sleeping bags since there was most likely not enough beds upstairs for all that were making the Leo outpost home. Natalia had peeked up there when she had scrounged around for the clothes she was wearing now. Hopefully Leo wouldn't mind. Clothes really wasn't one of the things on the list of stuff to bring the abducted civilians, and she wasn't wearing clothes that had whale nasty on them. Dirt and dust from cleaning though? She'd deal with that. Still, putting it off a little while longer in favor of some rest and good conversation wasn't going to put them too behind, right?

"What about you? What is it like in the life of a magical space-being? Vegetarians aside..":
PostPosted: Fri Sep 09, 2011 12:27 pm

"Um, normal with a healthy dash of insanity." He offered, trying to think of the best way to explain it. "I mean...." Crap... how much could he explain? "...I guess it's sorta like finding out you were adopted. "Oh Hi. You thought you were normal? Actually you're from space. And by the way you're magical. And at war. And you COULD walk away, but can you really, cause then you'll always wonder if you could have saved lived or something."

He debated, afraid that telling her too much would be dangerous.

"There's these books that they're translating, The Twelve Kingdoms. They're from Japan, not space..." He kind of wondered if the author had ever met a Senshi, some parts of it felt so similar.

"It's about this girl, who lives in the normal world, then she gets drawn into a magical one and she finds out she's really from THERE, she just thought she was human, and even though she had a real family on the 'normal' side, it's only because of the way their magic interacted with our world, and on the other side, her family wouldn't even recognize her..."

It was heavy and he wasn't sure she was looking for heavy. "Most of us are teenagers and we go out every night and we don't know if we're going home, but if we don't go, people can die." He summarized, looking apologetic for going so serious.

"And the only clue that we have that we're doing the right thing is that the other guys will kill humans to get power, and we don't... didn't....most of us don't... ********. It used to be pretty simple. Now you need a goddamn flow chart." He picked up a piece of broken chandelier and threw it into the midst of it's fallen main body.

"And we still didn't see this coming." He added, angry and apologetic.

"...." he paused for a minute or two, before pulling himself to his feet. "...I guess it counts as a small positive that I get to visit a planet with two suns and no night." This was a small platitude, he was trying to get the derailed train back off the emotional mine field.

"...Sorry. You didn't need an earful of emo crap." She already had a major headache. She couldn't just pop home.

"Well that sounds just dandy. I'd ask why don't you just migrate to your planet, start, what ever it is and live there but...yeah, guilty conscience, hm?"

Of course, she didn't know that all those home worlds were rubble. Dead. or mostly dead.

"How come no one goes to the news and like...tries to set them straight? They keep calling you terrorists, but aren't those other guys the terrorists? uh, oh wait," Natalia then remembered the news cast where people who claimed to be senshi hijacked the station and aired their message. "There was a news cast a while back where some people dressed a lot like the rest of you senshi came on and caused some trouble. I guess the news people wouldn't really be too acquiescent then... Never mind..."

She then seemed to be thinking.

"You could send a tape. I dunno. But it seems like if the general public had a little more knowledge then maybe it would really back the terrorists into a corner. Public support can be a strong thing."

And that is how Natalia reacted to problems - she thought of ways to tackle them, rather than wallow in it. Still, it was kinda weird to think that some of her friends might be fighting this strange war.

"Regulus is a desert, and there's... well... nothing left. It's just ruins." He admitted. "My uh, Ex tried doing some filming for a while but I think she stopped. I haven't asked."

It seemed like a better idea not to film at this point, fake videos were too easy to make.

"I think the public would rather both sides go away at this point, and I really can't blame them. I mean if I were just a civilian, I'd be pretty pissed I couldn't go out at night without wondering if some magical moron in a costume was going to jump out and make me wish I'd only run into a mugger. ....That and uh....accidentally blew up a car once....." He grimaced, clearly sympathetic. "....I mean a giant monster ate most of it first..."

"Ah~" Ruins. Well then. She decided not to ask what happened to make it such. Instead she'd comment about the monsters, "Those things are nasty. I was at the mall once when one came barreling through. I didn't stick around to see what happened. It looked like a giant chupacabra with flaming hemorrhoids and a massive rack. And I'm not talking about boobs," she added the last part quickly.

Now to tackle the car.

"I feel sorry for the owner of that car. Hopefully it was a heap of junk anyway and not some super expensive, tricked out, sports car...."

She knew several people who would probably weep giant tears of epic sadness if it was. She wasn't that in to cars herself.

"Honestly... at that point it was sorta hard to tell." He grimaced at the mention of the Chupacabra-monster. "God I hate Youma, they're freaking creepy." He admitted, though at least they weren't human. You didn't feel bad about hitting a Youma the way you felt bad about hitting someone like that girl with the blue hair on his first night. The one who'd cried.

"Yeah... aside from having to wash chunks of exploded and gas broiled slime monster out of my hair, I really kinda had to wonder how that insurance call went. 'No really... this giant slime monster ate half my car, then this stupid kid blew them both up. I swear! No I'm not on any medications!" He mocked the phonecall to his hand, held up in the shape of a pretend phone.

"What do you want me to do as far as cleanup?" he asked, as a side thought. "You're in charge, Happy Space Homemaker."

The Nickname was a gamble, he really hoped she didn't take massive offense, but he was trying to be funny.

"Hopefully their insurance was good no matter how hilarious the call. Because yeah. That would suck."

Okay, yeah, back to cleaning. Natalia stood and dusted herself off - a futile effort really. She chuckled at the nickname.

"Picking up the big pieces is a good start, then sweeping up the rest, and then the last thing to do is mopping and scrubbing. Because no one wants a piece of glass lodged in their a**."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 10, 2011 6:53 am

"Yeah, yeah that would pretty much suck." And given some of the personality clashes floating around, he wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone did end up knocked on their a** in a pile of broken glass. "I should try and find out where the heck they want all these pieces to go." He noted. "Unless someone out there's a glass smith and we can find tools, most of this is pretty much trashed."

"Yeah, I don't think we have any of those running around here. But you know, it kind of reminds me of the chandelier crash in Phantom of the Opera. That Leo dude has a mask and everything so~ Wow, I can't believe the realization just came to me," Natalia laughed a bit, grabbing a broom to sweep what she could in to one spot. Namely around the big pieces.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 11, 2011 6:35 am

"Ha, yeah kinda, only I haven't heard Leo sing, or... well. stalk people who can break glass with their voice." Regulus chuckled. "I'll see if I can get the movable bits over to one side for now, I'll ask Leo if there's someplace he wants them to go." He offered. Bit of an up side to the whole 'Senshi' thing, the power boost would make it a bit easier for him to haul things over to the side. If they got a couple senshi in here, they could probably even get the chandelier out of the way.

"That'd be great." Honestly, she didn't foresee the chandelier ever being repaired. She liked to bead things, and she was pretty sure it was basically just some epic beading - with glass - but...she didn't one to try it. That thing was big and intricate, and the glass was so broken that some of it was the consistency of sand by now.

"I don't think Christine ever broke glass. And actually there is a very specific combination of notes a person has to hit in order to do that."

Natalia - always with the useless information.

As the broken chandelier was moved, Natalia swept the broken pieces over to it. It was getting to be a big pile, considering the lack of a dust pan. You would have thought one would have been included when whoever brought the cleaning supplies brough the brooms and stuff. Well...maybe there was one but it had gotten sent to another outpost... Oh well. This worked for now.
