She shrugged lightly, "I suppose so but you should also do it because you love your art and not because you want to consistently prove yourself to others. Sometimes you just can't satisfy people," Lattice replied. After all no matter what one did there will always be that one person ready to make all the effort seem for nothing. "Whether you play to be famous or not it shouldn't matter. You should play for yourself most of all."
Lattice nodded, "There is always new things to learn, better ways to interpret skills learned in the past. Things to go back to if they seemed too difficult at first, I do not know everything there is about my art. Some things come more easily to me than others....Like controlling the ink and mixing it. My sister on the other hand is much better at letting interpreting what the ink wants, she is also a better overall artist than I am." She talked about her sister with pride and happiness instead of jealousy or other dark emotions.

He went silent, looking at his guitar again. "I don't got a sibling, so I don't know... y'know, what it's like to compare to someone like that," he admitted. "But... it's harder to be a grim reaper than it is to be a famous guitarist, I think." His fingers hovered over the strings, not quite touching them. "So yeah, I think I can prove something to myself. Finally."
He looked up, grinning at her as he changed the subject. "Hey, I'd like to meet your sister sometime, too. She sounds pretty cool."

"Maybe you have a musically inclined friend you can compare notes with," Lattice offered helpfully. Slowly but surely the Engraver was viewing friends a little like family and additional clan members, and thus she didn't see why friends couldn't be just as helpful.
Lattice smiled a little and nodded, "Yes, she is a wonderful sister. She is very dear to me. I missed her when she couldn't attend at first but she is here now. I am sure she'd love to meet you as well," the Engraver replied. It wasn't like Needle would ever refuse to meet anyone as far as Lattice knew. "Needle is very curious and asks many questions," Lattice said after a moment, "I hope you like answering questions."

He laughed. "Only if you guys don't mind answerin' mine," he said. "Because I've got a ton of them. But..." He fell back, looking up at the sky. "Right now probably isn't the best time for me to try and think. Mind if I play some more?" he asked her, still lying on his back. "I need a bit of... relief."

"Of course we will answer your questions in turn," Lattice said chuckling lightly. She liked this Reaper, he was very nice to talk to and she didn't feel as if he was very bad at all. For the most part she was glad she could talk to him on her own to see what he was like. She could see why Xiu would be in such a tizzy over the friendship with him.
Lattice smiled a bit wider nodding a bit, "If you don't mind that I sit and listen for a little bit longer. I really enjoyed listening when I heard you earlier." It wasn't any music she recognized but she did like it.

"Nah, it's fine," he said as he sat up. For a moment his mind searched for what he wanted to play, then a little smile pulled at his lips. He couldn't help himself, he thought, he still wanted to rock. He got to his feet, adjusting his guitar, and starting on the one he'd been practicing for a bit in secret. Just Like Lightnin' rang through the air, the reaper quite happy to be playing just for the hell of it.

Lattice just sat still and listened as he played her eyes closing behind her mask as she did so. She simply let the chords of music flow through the air around her and was content to not say a word or do anything else. She stayed until the very end of the performance where she lifted her hands and quietly clapped for his performance.
Carefully she rose to her feet and bowed, "Thank you for the meeting and the performance. I must be on my way." Lattice straightened up and gave a small wave before she turned to walk toward her dorm room. She had a lot to consider now, perhaps she'd make Roch a deck of Hanafuda once she got to her room.

He grinned, so high off of the rock that he didn't even notice that the itching had gone away. "Bye!" he called after her, then promptly launched into another song, just because he could.
