"Yeah yeah yeah" Damien said reassuringly, even if it was with a very blatant eyeroll. Thankfully carrying the reaper meant he couldn't see it. "Well, I think of this place as a home, i know that if I was to head back to the clan right now, they wouldn't be as welcoming as this place is." the hound stated it like it was a fact of life, if it wasn't for the burden of carrying Roch, he was sure his shoulders would have slumped. "They'd probably just walk by me like I wasn't even there." he said with a frown.
The amusement in the injured boil's voice was infectious as it reached his own face. "Played for them all huh?" he sneered back. "My my, didn't know you played for that kind of team Roch." he chuckled happily, or at least tried to with the extra weight on his lungs.
"even if I am the rival, I can say opposites attract." he said after an abrupt pause. "Just so you know, I'm not going to just stand aside and let you sweep her off her feet and away from me."

"I ain't gay!" he snapped. "And she can pick," Roch said, irritated. "I told her and I'll tell you, I ain't gonna try and keep someone that doesn't want to be kept. If she wants to date you--" He muttered something dark. "I might be pissed, sure, but hell, it ain't my choice. I just don't wanna lose her as a friend," he said quietly.
"I can't lose her as a friend," he repeated, memories flashing through his mind. "I don't think I could handle that," he said quietly, a twitch pulling at his lips.

Damien did his very best to quell the chuckle in his throat. "I never said that Roch, but touch my a** and i'll drop you on your head." he said with a wry smile. But he wasn't joking about dropping him on his head, no way.
He'd better keep his filthy paws of his silky tail.
As much as he like to scowl at the guitarist for the grumbling that wasn't far away from sensitive ears to hear, he didn't interrupt the bloke and what he had to get off his chest. "I don't see why she would no longer want to be your friend." he said in a huff. "I don't think Xiu is that kind of ghoul and I think you know that too." he said with a bark.
"I mean, we're still friends, rivals for a ghouls heart yes, but still friends." he muttered quietly, ..... "Right?" he asked with a slight quiver in his voice.

"You think I'da told you about me bein' like this if I didn't consider you a friend still?" Roch asked logically. "Damn, dawg, I grew up in a neighborhood the boogies like to pretend doesn't exist, I ain't stupid enough to invite an enemy to come kick me when I'm down."
He was quiet, watching silently as the school came into sight. "No, it ain't home," he said quietly. "But I might be enlarging my family."

As much as Damien wanted to argue with Roch, he had a point. "ok, fair enough." he replied back sheepishly and gave the guitarist a solid pinch on his leg to hush him up. "That would be a smart move, who knew that there wasn't just music scores and beats stuck in your head?"
His ears twitched involuntarily at the soft sound but the message was clear. It only made the hellhound smile wider on their way back to their own extended family. "Ain't nothing wrong with that ol' buddy ol' pal.' he drawled out comically as the school and its resident became closer and easier to make out from the horizon.

"This is all good and stuff," Roch said, "but even if I gotta crawl, I'm gonna make it to my dorm and to my room on my own feet, alright? I already feel like a p***y, I ain't gonna look like one too. Not everyone at this school is a friend, you know?" he said, moving to get off of Demi's back.
"But thanks for the ride, man. I appreciate it."

Demi wasn't going to protest against the boil's wishes. He of all creatures knew that everyone had moments where they had to stand tall on their own. He carefully bent down to allow the reaper to slip off his back and turned on his heel to face the wobbly bloke. "I hear ya, do what ya gotta do." he said with a shrug before gently tapping a fist against Roch's shoulder.
"No problem, just don't forget there are times where we have to lean on each other for support, kay?" he said back with a dip of his head and a flick of his ears before turning back around and walking to his own place in this mismatched space of allies and enemies.
Just one step in front of the other with his head and tail held high.
