Mot was glad to have his brim back down over his nose again. Partly he was relieved to have that security blanket back, yet he also wondered why Hel had allowed it to go back down/.. Did he seem too pathetic? The thought of it made his ego go down another notch.
As Hel began to speak again, Mot almost felt like he was about to be scolded for feeling the way he did. To his luck it wasn't quite that bad. Hel was bringing up valid points. How did she know as much as she did anyway? Was it personal experience? Mot sighed to himself. His mind was plagued with Whys and What Ifs, questioning himself over and over.

Accept that he can't be like other boils..
Do something no one else has done..

The boil pinched the bridge of his nose, leaning his elbows on the counter. "It seems so obvious when said aloud." He mumbled. I want to be dependable, and I want to be thought highly of. While he wanted these things, he somehow felt it was beyond his reach. He couldn't help but compare himself to others. All he did was live his fantasy, and let himself pretend he was a big shot.

Perhaps if he simply focused on his strengths? Something others saw as positive or admired? That was more a thing only others could point out.

Mot cast a glance to Hel. She was trying to help, so it was best not to brood. Mot smiled sheepishly and leaned away from the counter. "This is just a rut I'm in anyway, right? I'll be okay." After all he certainly was not as bad as he had been. "I'm not normally this self conscience."

As they fell into another moment of silence, Hel took another sip of her cider, and hoped that Mot wouldn’t question her advice.

When the reaper pinched the bridge of his and leaned his elbows on the counter, her gaze shifted back over to him and she gave a soft chuckle. “Yeah.” She agreed, “That happens a lot, friend.” She couldn’t count the number of times the simplest solution or advice would come about by someone else just saying it. The reaper fell into another thoughtful silence, swinging her feet as she was short enough to do so successfully, and listened to Mot speak more. “I suppose it is? But…you’ll only be okay if you can work your way out of it…”

Hel leaned on the counter as Mot leaned away from it, resting her head in her dark hand as the other traced the rim of her cup. “…I know you want to be the best of the class.” She started. “But…do you have any other goals…personal goals…things that…you want?”

Work his way out of the funk. It was something he had to do. How to go about it alluded him. Who to ask? The thought of asking for help was unnerving.

Hel's next question had the reaper stumped. Personal Goals? All his life, his mother decided what he had to do, and at school all he thought about was socializing. Over everything else, what else did he do? What did he want? His hidden brows knitted together in worry. Most people had personal goals, right?
Hel seemed keen on keeping herself physically strong and capable, as did Petro. Those seemed like personal goals, right? So then, what did Mot want?

Mot fell silent for a long while.

That was a bad sign, right?

". . ."

Dual toned eyes flicked over to her companion as he seemed to be in thought. Hel waited, and waited…and…waited…

Mot was silent.

Hel was concerned.

The reaper’s expression turned into disbelief. “Mot…?” She questioned. “Don’t you…?” He didn’t. Hel was now stunned. How could…someone…not have any goals? She came from a family driven with wants and desires, goals, tasks, and things all her sisters wanted to accomplish, each and every one! Nine different sisters and they all managed to want different things and have different goals, but to be sitting across from someone who didn’t…it was weird. Odd. “Uh…”

Hel sat up straight, and immediately started digging in her apron pockets. She found what she was looking for, a notepad and a pen, and pushed her mug aside from now as she opened up the note pad. Hel then jotted something across the top, and looked up at Mot, grinning lightly. “So friend…what is something you want? Let us exchange ideas.” She meant: brainstorm.

Mot was.. well.. feeling fairly pathetic. Hel seemed to radiate bafflement and stunned. If he had been in a desk, his head would be hitting it. To be safe, he decided against such an action and just pretended he did it.

His gaze shot to Hel as she busied herself with something. Maybe it was a restraining order to keep Mot and his stench of failure away at least ten feet? Possible...

Oh, it wasn't! Mot leaned over, curiosuly looking the paper.... was that chicken scratch? "Goats for Mot?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 1:37 pm

So Mot wasn’t exactly on any sort of roll so to speak…that didn’t deter the valkyrie!

She was rather determined to help the reaper out anyway she could now. First she had thought that maybe she’d only need to help him along with training, but it seemed the grim reaper was in much more serious predicament. No matter! She was going to help him no matter what now…

Hel’s brows furrowed when Mot spoke up. “What?” She echoed. “Goats?” She obviously was confused. Where in Jack’s name did that come from? That was so random! She looked up at him, catching him staring down at her note, and then it clicked. “Not goats, friend, goals!” She flipped the notepad around so that it was right side up to the cowboil, as if this might…uh…fix his misreading. “We’re going to make a list of goals and ideas for you.” She informed with a nod of her head.

What is something you’d like to work on?”

"Oh! Okay that makes more sense." For a moment he was wondering if perhaps Hel was suggesting he offer a blood sacrifice to the Gods of Halloween. Silly notion.

Mot held his chin and tapped his bottom lip with his forefinger, making humming sounds as he pondered what he wanted to work on. "Well.. let's see now.." He mused, tilting his head side to side. He stared down at the paper as i the answer would pop out at him any time soon.

Getting stronger was more for those who wanted to be physically fit. Honestly, although Hel insisted it was important, Mot didn't share the notion all that much. He liked long range fighting.
Getting smarter, or book smart, was something his mother wanted. Not his own desire.

Suddenly, it hit him.

"Oh!" He snapped his fingers then pointed down on the page. "I'd like to work on being braver. I run from a lot of things, so I'd like to steer away from cowardice. Maybe.. I should think about the things I avoid and work to eliminate my fears."

Hel turned the paper back towards her after she showed him, and waited. She took to swinging her feet again as Mot pondered. As much as she’d like to be jotting things down right now, this was something Mot needed to think about for himself!

The reaper perked up when the cowboil snapped his fingers, and as about to start writing, when she paused and just stared at him. Woah. Did he…really just say that? Hel stared at him for a long while, her expression stuck in a sort of surprised awe before she snapped out of it and grinned widely. “Most excellent. That is an admirable goal and suggestion.” She murmured appreciatively, writing down this first and good suggestion.

What else?”

Mot felt a little self conscience. Hel was just.. staring. Did he say something stupid? Was that a ridiculous goal? Was it horribly awful for a bil to be a coward in the first place?

A sense of relief washed over him as Hel seemed delighted with his suggestion, a hand resting over his chest momentarily as he breathed a short sigh.

Mot soon found himself peeking at her notes again. He frowned. "..Bring Boxers... Faking Tears..?" He raised his head and quirked a brow up. "Um.. Hel? Would you mind if I wrote this all down? I can't read your writing.."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:46 pm

Hel finished off the second suggestion, smiling to herself as she looked down at what she had written so far.

This was coming along nicely so far!

When Mot started uttering from crazy phrases though, Hel’s brows furrowed as she looked up at him. “What?” She echoed once more. “Mot, I think you should be taking this more seriously!” She reprimanded, “Those are horrible suggest—“ Here she paused again and looked at him, a brow now rising. “What do you mean you can’t read my writing?” She looked back at the notepad, seeing the goals listed as clear as glass. “I can read it just fine!” It seemed the reaper was in denial about her hand writing being legible.

Was Hel.. offended? While part of him felt badly for offending her, the other part of his thought of it as endearing the way she defended herself. Mot smirked and shook his head. "What good does it do me if you can read it when I'm the one who needs to be able to refer to it?" The grim reaper held out a hand and grinned sheepishly. "Please let me write?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:58 pm

The reaper looked insulted that the legibility of her handwriting was being questioned.

She narrowed her eyes and stared Mot down for a long moment before huffing lightly. It seems bratty Hel was making an appearance today! Hel didn’t like to be told that she wasn’t doing something well. She slipped her fingers under the notepad and then oh so maturely flipped it over to him. “Maybe you should learn to read, then.” She also retorted oh so maturely and then flicked the pen at him as well.

After her hands where free, the reaper picked her mug of cider back up and took a sip.

Mot flinched backward as Hel practically tossed everything at him in a huff. "Aw, come on Hel!" Mot grinned, chuckling. "Don't be that way~." Perhaps if he could get her to admit her handwriting was.. not so legible, she would ask for his help! Writing was something he knew he could do well!

The reaper picked up the discarded things and started re writing what Hel had written down, or assumed had been written down. It took a lot of squinting and cheek scratching but he finally managed to interpret what it said.

"There! How's this? Did I get it right?" Or had he been right when he thought it said goats and boxers?
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 3:25 pm

Don’t be what way?” She muttered, though it was muffled by her cup. Her narrowed gaze stayed on the cowboil over the rim of the mug, and it was rubbing salt into the wound to see all the (what she assumed) squinting and cheek scratching he was doing. No, her writing wasn’t bad at all! She’d have to get someone else to look at it…

Hel set her mug down (a little bit too hard) on the counter and leaned to see what else he wanted to rub in, and was about to retort until she actually saw his writing. Her narrowed gaze immediately softened, as did the frown on her face as she just one again, stared in a stunned silence. His writing it was….so…beautiful. Now, also seeing his writing right under hers, she felt hers was…inferior. The reaper was now torn between being awed and feeling sorry for her self, as her elbows shifted to rest on the counter and she rested her head in her hands, staring down at the paper.

Mhm.” Was the only thing Hel hummed in acknowledge as she kept her eyes trained on the paper, waiting to see him write more.

Mot wasn't sure what to make of Hel's behavior now. Did he do good? Was she... no it didn't seem like sulking? Mot pursed his lips for a moment as he tried to interpret her body language.

It failed, and he gave up.

Mot set the pad and pen down and looked it over. "What else?" He'd had a stroke of luck with his first idea, but now he wasn't sure what to add.
