And just like that, it was over. Two twin girls to round out the group, each as beautiful as the last. Ban'ma was careful to make sure the cubs stayed nestled up against their mother's warmth before she met Thuraya's eyes with soft reassurance. She was as scared as the younger banu was, but dared not show it. After all, the girl was like a daughter to her, and children were meant to be comforted.
Ban'ma laughed lightly and gave Tsubame a loving nuzzle. "It's alright, dear. Maua and I will just have to even things out again," she teased. "Go on to sleep. You deserve it. We'll all be here when you wake up."
If only she had known what the future would hold. Maybe she would have tried harder to keep her sister awake, gone for help, or even called on a God to save her. The 'what if's? would mount in the coming months, but for now, the striped Banu was sure that sleep was the best thing for her.
"Thuraya?" Ban'ma whispered quietly, moving closer to the darker Banu. "Would you mind staying here while I fetch Namir? You're mother's had a tough one this time, and he might know of an herb to help her recover. " She thought briefly that the girl might want to tell her own Pad of the good news, but that would have to wait. Ban'ma simply wasn't going to leave those cubs and their weakened mother alone; not now, at lesat.

Thuraya eyed Ban'ma carefully but her other mother showed her nothing in her eyes. She hoped that everything was okay maybe she was worried for nothing. "Yes I will stay" she whispered to Ban'ma. She eyed the cubs who filled her heart with warmth. They were all so small, Thuraya could hardly remember when hers had been that small... perhaps it really was time to have another litter.
Thuraya curled up close to where her mother and the cubs lay.... she had no idea what was going to come soon... when Ban'ma returned to the den with help. She was tired from watching the experience but she didn't let her eyelids droop at all.
