Mora was glad that the Altmer child drank what she had given her without much of a fuss. She would have pressed the issue had the girl decided to take up typical High Elf pride and arrogance. On the occasion she would have to heal an Altmer who was loath to accept assistance from a race they viewed as lesser than their own. That particular man’s views were a little more extreme than most High Elves, sure, but from him Mora learned to expect such nonsense. Not that the other races didn’t have their own particular foibles that were rather foolish. Mora once had to explain to a fellow Bosmer why it wasn’t polite to eat her fallen enemies, especially in front of that Imperial Noblewoman. Not for the first time Mora wondered why she was always the diplomat. She also wondered why she was thinking about all this when she should be concentrating on advancing the quest they were on.

The main door of the guild hall opened, and Mora’s Wood Elf ears twitched slightly at the sound. Unlike Eliya, she turned to see what the source of the noise was. It turned out to be a lost Fighter’s guild member was standing in the doorway. Or a heavily armored battle mage. Mora decided it was the latter, and hoped that he was coming with them. They could such an imposing wall of a fellow to keep goblins off the less armored party members. She offered the man a small smile after she realized she was squinting at him with her head tilted to the side – an expression that could be construed as less than friendly. He approached and introduced himself, revealing that he was in fact going with them. Mora let Eliya step forward and take the lead – essentially taking the role of party leader. She followed the Altmer out.

“I’m called Mora.” She introduced herself simply as they walked to the stables.

---

During the short journey Mora chose watching the scenery quietly over trying to make conversation, which wouldn't come to a surprise to anyone who knew her. There was a couple times where she had to murmur to her good-for-nothing horse when it decided stuffing its face with passing greenery was more important than going where Mora wanted it to. Such was the nature of her fat painted steed. Sometimes it really put Mora off if she was tired or in a hurry, but Mora felt slightly more good-natured toward it that morning, having had a good night's rest and a quest to look forward to.

As the cup was sat back down onto the wooden table she was half leaning on to keep from falling back asleep, Coraline sat humbly with the other two women at the table. Not much was said except for Eliya agreeing that they should be off. Pulling the glass close to her again, she made sure that the potion was completely empty instead of having the juices thicken at the bottom and a mess to clean up for her fellow mages at this hall. She wanted to be polite to them for letting her rendezvous with her companions at their hall. She'd hope they would respect the Bruma hall the same way she was caring for theirs. With her hopes up for this mission she pushed her stool backwards and leaped off of it. Both of her feet touched the ground at the same time.

Her mind was miles away, mostly in the direction of the mine they were going to go eradicate, when the door opened. She walked behind the other two ladies letting the other Altmer take the lead. Eliya seemed like a natural leader and Coraline was far too inexperienced to even tackle that roll just this moment. Just as they were approaching the door, it opened and behind it a large man wearing full plate armor stepped in. His feet clunking loudly with each step. The bulking behemoth spoke to them, his voice more husky then smooth, asking if this is where the rescue party was convening. Coraline stood speechless at this seemingly brutish person. Her eyes gazed around his armor to his large sword sheathed in it's scabbard. She felt her heart start to panic, thinking this man was a guard instead of another associate to her. She hadn't recently broken any laws that she was aware of but she was on her toes till she was able to decipher his actual words and realized he was going to be joining them.

Harkon was his name, and, even though at first appearance he seemed crude, he said himself he wasn't used to their ways. She didn't speak to him right away like the other two. lnstead she kept to herself till they were all out in public. She paced next to him, his pace taking a larger stride then her. To keep up she had to fast walk, taking two steps to make up for the short distance her feet was able to carry her. ''
So you're name is Harkon? l'm Coraline. So where you from?'' she said not really thinking of how ridiculous it must have looked for a girl two feet shorter then him trying to keep up and strike up a conversation. As if an adoring fan was creeping next to their idol.

"BLOODY SPRIGGAN!" Neven cursed as he ran his hand over the side of his horse's flank. The bloody thing had come crashing out of some brush he was passing by. It had taken a swipe at him but he turned his horse just at the last moment and the beast took the hit instead of him. That had not been the most intelligent thing Neven could have done. As the horse buckled and tossed them both to the ground. Cursing the bloody creature to the deepest valleys of Oblivion, Neven pulled himself out of the dirt and dealt with this woodland creature. He said one word "Burn!" and tossed his arm out toward the Spriggan, once he arm fully extended a ball of fire shot from his hand and crashed into the Spriggan, the fire consumed it's leafy exterior. Neven tossed a few more toward the creature making sure to overload the damage he was causing to keep the bloody thing from regenerating. He'd read about this things from a fellow Telvanni mage that had made a trip to Solstheim. This things had a nasty habit of not staying dead when you thought they were. Neven had hit it with enough fire spells that the thing should stay on the ground, then again there wasn't all that much left of it to regen so he had felt confident that the threat was over. "I hope you appreciate this you bloody beast, if I didn't dislike having to walk the distance back to Skingrad, not to mention this incompetent mage that I'm suppose to track down will no doubt be in no place to walk back to Skingrad." He said as he healed the cut the Spriggan's claws had left behind. Once he was finished his Magicka reserves were vastly tapped, he'd need to hold off on the spells for a bit. He had a few potions of Magicka restore, but he didn't wish to use them unless he truly needed to. So until his Magicka restored itself naturally, he'd rely on his silver longsword as his means of combat.

His horse would need to rest a bit, luckily he wasn't too fair from the cave's entrance. He lead the beast to a nearby tree and tied him to it. The beast stuck his head into the nearby brush and began to eat. Neven shook his head at the simple minded creature, turned and headed toward the old beat up wooden door that kept the entrance to the cave closed. The door was stuck pretty good, he had to put some effort into wrenching the thing open, so much so that he nearly ripped the thing from its rusted hinges. He gazed down into the darkness, risked casting at least night eye on himself and then pulled his sword free and disappeared into the dark.

Hakon Vermundr

Of course they would be elves, and female elves at that. Had he never left Skyrim then he would have probably formed a string of stereotypes for why setting out to kill goblins with female elves would be a bad idea. Thankfully, Hakon’s travels had brought him into situations that showed how they were every bit as dangerous as a berserking Orc in their own ways. In fact, he was incredibly fortunate to have the ability to absorb a fair amount of spells that came his way and he knew how even the little ones could sting quite a bit. So he’d let them prove themselves down the road instead of how they appeared. "Greetings Eliya, I am Hakon. I am here to assist in the retrieval of a lost mage. It seemed the other elves were also on the quest and offered the opportunity to let his guard down. Instead, he remained vigilant and simply nodded at Eliya when she gave the order to move out. He barely took note of the other two when he had been focusing on the redheaded elf but when he did step to the side to let them pass he noticed how…short one of the women was. Naturally he wanted to stop her in her tracks and tell her to wait a couple of years but it was not his place to relieve anyone from the mission, regardless of whether she was really short or just fairly young.

As they walked over to the stable the Bosmer introduced herself as Mora in a fairly to-the-point kind of way. He preferred that over getting too friendly to begin with. In his old line of work being professional could mean the difference between just guarding cargo or risking the ire of a captain at sea. “A pleasure, Mora.” Shortly after another voiced reached his ears and it was only then that he realized the shorter woman had been walking beside him this whole time. He did not expect for any of them to take much interest in him so early, especially when given the reputation of elves in general, but it was a pleasant surprise. “I was born and raised in Skyrim, if that is what you are asking but I have spent some time travelling as well. I have only been here, in Cyrodiil, for a year or so now. How about yourself?”, he answered and asked in return as he mounted his own horse. He only had the creature for the better part of a month but the steed had enough previous owners to know not to rebel when a heavily armored man attempted to sit on it.

From there he attempted to keep up some kind of conversation with at least Coraline as the group travelled to their destination. In his experience it was best to make at least some noise when travelling in unfamiliar territory to ward off animals. Granted, this could alert bandits but they sometimes hesitated when it came to groups of travelers just as animals did. As they drew nearer to the cave the smell of something burning, or long since burned, reached his nostrils. It was then he saw a horse tied to a nearby tree so perhaps it belonged to a lone traveler, or if they were lucky it could have belonged to the mage they were supposed to rescue. “Any chance the Mages Guild could have been wrong and this Mage has been here only recently and without the threat of goblins?” He pointed towards the horse in case the others had not seen it but he had a feeling they would not be so lucky.

Whatever the case, he stayed on his horse until he could see the entrance of the cave before dismounting. His horse seemed a little spooked and would not allow itself to be tied right next to the cave, forcing the Nord to walk back a ways so that it would settle down. When he made his way back to the entrance, Hakon brought his longsword to bear just in case things got heated early. “Allow me to go first, ladies.” He tapped his steel shield light with his sword, hinting that it would be better for the hunk of metal to be hit first if there was an ambush inside. Without waiting to see if any of them objected, he brought his shield up and took his first step into the darkness.

Eliya ~

The ride to Goblin Jim's Cave was uneventful and conversation was minimal. Neither of those two aspects bothered the redheaded Altmer. By nature Eliya tended to be more of an introvert, reflecting within at the world around her. Some people talked all the time, she preferred to talk selectively.

When they arrived at the cave she immediately noticed a horse tethered near the entrance. Her calculating gaze swept the area, and she saw that the door to the entrance was practically torn off its hinges. So the Dunmer had decided to show up after all. A pity. A faint trace of anger stirred within the mage assassin as she dismounted and tethered her own horse a little farther away from the entrance. The fact that she had to work with the dark skinned elf did not please her. Not one bit. She would much rather be working against him, like last time. If Eliya were the religious sort she might have offered up a prayer to whatever gods that this would be the last time she'd have to see the unpleasant man.

She patted Apollo fondly and whispered something into his ear and then walked over to the other horse. Barely she touched him. She knelt down briefly and examined the grass. He payed her no mind, content on chewing his fauna. It would seem Nevan had just arrived. She began striding towards the entrance, abruptly pausing to check and see if the others were coming. Her eyes found Hakon. He wore armor. He looked like he could handle a sword. "Hakon, do you have any interest leading us in since you appear so well equipped?" Though the mage wanted to charge right in after Nevan, there was wisdom in letting a warrior go first into unknown territory. Not to mention the dark elf was roaming around in there and Eliya didn't exactly trust him. If he decided to get violent then he would have to get through Hakon first.

As the fair skinned woman awaited a reply she reached into her pocket and slipped on her ring of night eye. Instantly the world was swathed in hues of blue and she squinted as her eyes took a moment to adjust. Being as it wasn't overcast, it was extremely bright out and as soon as Hakon answered her, Eliya was stepping right into the darkness of the cave.

Mora listened but did not try to add to the light conversation between the young elf and the Nord. She was interested to find out that the large man had been born in Skyrim, though that shouldn't have been all that surprising. Though how he ended up in the mages guild in Cyrodiil was still a mystery. The Bosmer woman always found stories of people's past interesting. Usually they were much grander than her's, especially in parties such as these. One of these days, Mora would have to ask her guild mate what Skyrim was like. Not today, though. Today was a day to concentrate on not getting killed by goblins or confused mages.

"I doubt it." the Wood Elf replied when Hakon spoke aloud his wishful thinking. "With this old mage we're rescuing, you can always expect the worst." She said with a decisive nod. After a moment of thought she added, "And strangest. Even though most of the time it isn't his fault." That was what she had gathered from her brief encounters with him and overheard conversations of other students at the university. She didn't know who in her party had known the man, so she figured she might as well inform them with what little information she had. It might prepare them.

At the cave, Mora was more than happy to let Hakon go before her. In fact, she expected it. Why put a stone wall behind you when you can use it to crush your enemies? She prepared her sliver bow and notched an arrow while she waited for the armored man to forge ahead. Mora noticed Eliya also readying herself, touching a ring she had on her finger that made the High Elf squint in the light. A ring of night eye. That was probably something Mora needed to invest in if she was going to continue to go into caves like this one or ruins like Hrotanda Vale.

Coraline spoke back to Harkon in childish remarks and more questions throughout most of the journey. She seemed more fascinated with him then her other two companions as if his armor were a shiny object and she couldn't help but be interested in it. A jade or sapphire gem laden over steel ring. Small bits of her wanted to delve deeper into his past and ask about his family and if he still had one and if not what had happened to them. Though she knew better to have though that such conversation were best as they traveled. No, they were. Light conversation seemed to suit the situation more so. Still, she wondered about them and if they were still in Skyrim or if they moved with him.

But she soon wore herself out from talking and the journey started to calm down as they were soon approaching their destination. The green foliage was a nice distraction to gaze at as her rented carried her effortlessly. It didn't take long till they saw the cave, the door almost torn off the stone wall. There was also sight of a lone horse tethered to a nearby tree. She knew it probably belonged to their fifth member of the party, but was unable to put a face to a name she had no real knowledge of. She found it rude that he was so competent that he felt no need to wait for the others. As if rescuing the man himself would pride himself higher then them. She wish a thorn would stick itself underneath his fingernail.

As they all dismounted she too tied the leather reins to large wooden branch so it wasn't to break it off. Walking towards the rest of the party, she left her sword in the scabbard and peered down the tunnel. It seemed small and narrow. No real maneuverability allowed and it would be even less if they had a steel wall in front of them, blinding most of their vision. It wasn't that she was really complaining about it, having a guard protecting you seemed nice in comparison to her own poor defense skills. Like most caves, she was assuming, there wasn't going to be much space to swing a sword around unless they came to an opening, an inner chamber. She'd rely on range spells or try to squeeze between the wall and the linings of the cave.

It didn't take much longer for the quartet to start heading into the darkness. Coraline was about to cast a light spell on Harkon when she realized that it seemed that Eliya had perfect vision. She grew quickly jealous of such a simple solution to their problem. She half wished she could steal the ring off Eliya's hand and slip it upon her own fingers.

Neven didn’t get very far into the depths of the cave system, before the heavy smell of unwashed body’s and roasted rat assaulted his nose. He had to resist the urge to vomit up his breakfast at the overpowering stench; it would not do to have his party members walk in on him puking his guts out like a scared Khajiit kitten. No he gathered himself, and tried not to take too many deep breaths and pushed forward. Less than 20 meters into the cave Neven spied a passage that led off to the left, while the main central opening led further down, continue down or take this little detour and see where it goes….now that was the question indeed. He knew that the other members of the group would be arriving soon and he didn’t have all day to stand around and contemplate which direction to take. If he had been using this cave as a hide out, he’d have taken as many side passages as possible to make it even more difficult for anyone or anything to find him. Trusting that a fellow mage would hold the same mind set Neven proceeded down the side passage. The tunnel was just large enough for one Mer to walk, not nearly enough room to swing a sword, so Neven returned his blade and ready himself to defend with Magicka should the need arise. Morrowind didn’t have the type of goblin infestations that Cyrodiil had and thus wasn’t as familiar with dealing with them as those Mages who lived here. None the less he was more than confident that he’d be able to deal with some filthy goblins.

Hakon Vermundr

It took some time for his eyes to adjust to the darker atmosphere of the cave, forcing Hakon to walk slowly to avoid slipping or falling. Still, by the time he could make out shapes he could barely see more than twenty feet or so in front of him, meaning that he would have to rely on the others for spotting distant creatures. Unfortunately, his sense of smell and hearing would also be of little use due to the clanking echoing within his own armor, which might not be as loud to his companions, and the smell of filth that usually permeated goblin caves. He tried to remain as quite as possible though, knowing that if he did alert any Goblins he would rather do it where at a choke point where he could keep them at bay while the others barraged the creatures. Eventually he did increase his pace though, completely missing the side passage the Neven went through while his gaze was fixed towards the larger, central passage. In the distance he could see a small fire and the silhouettes of two goblins, though there could be more. In his experience, it wasn’t unusual for the creatures to set up primitive guard-like posts. Thankfully, the creatures never had the foresight to be within hearing distance of their kind so killing them now would probably not alert the rest….probably.

However, before he could ask the others on their opinion on this, he felt something give way under his foot followed by the sounds of rope breaking and chains swinging in the air in front of him. “Not. Go-“, his curse was cut short as he raced to bring his shield to bear to avoid whatever trap he had accidentally triggered. No sooner had he covered himself did Hakon feel something dense impact his shield, nearly causing him to fall backwards and knocking the feeling out of his arm. He cursed himself for falling into a trap set by a Goblin of all things, knowing the only thing that saved him a face full of a swinging mace. His first instinct was to shake his arm, to return the feeling back into the limb and ensure nothing was broken, but he realized that when the mace hit his shield it produced a very loud clang. By the time he looked back up towards the central passage he could already see two goblins coming to investigate the disturbance, though not entirely sure if there were any intruders. It wouldn’t be long until they saw the group though and if one had the intellect to warn the others then he could have very well screwed things up properly. Forcing his shield bearing arm back into position in front of his body, he turned his head to address Eliyah in a whisper, “Fight or wait?”

Personally he was leaning towards fighting but perhaps one of them could use a spell to turn them away? He didn’t know, he was never one for tricks like that but there was a life at stake here and he did not want to mess up twice in just a few moments.

Eliya ~

Eliya followed Hakon into the cave, the others behind her as they entered single file. The entrance was surprisingly narrow and left little room for the use of a large melee weapon. The Altmer noticed Hakon left his sword in its sheath. Fortunately for the redheaded elf she used daggers for a majority of her fighting. Smoothly she slipped one comfortably into her right hand, leaving her other hand free in case she needed it. By the way the others were walking it was evident that they did not have rings of night eye like herself, and were not using said spell. Eliya considered using a light spell for the others, but she didn't wish to draw unnecessary attention to the group when there would likely be hostile company ahead. Besides, surely one of the other mages could do so themself? Perhaps they were thinking along the same lines of Eliya. Although the cave was dark, it wasn't pitch black, the light from the open door behind them casting shadows along the stone walls.

The Altmer's delicate nose wrinkled slightly at the smells from within the cave, but she did her best to pay it no heed knowing that it would only get worse as they got closer to the Goblin lair. Eliya cringed as Hakon's armor unexpectedly made a large clunking sound. Stealth was not really an option for him. She said nothing however, not even when Hakon led them past an opening that looked like a corridor. The urge to say something however was difficult to ignore, and to do so Eliya bit down on her lip. She let it pass however, knowing that like most caves, this one likely had many different passageways. She had asked Hakon to go first. It would counterproductive to take the lead herself.

Looking straight ahead, Eliya's eyes quickly noticed a fire up ahead, some distance away. She put a finger to her lips and turned her head briefly to warn the others, before stopping and realizing they likely couldn't see her face. She turned her head forward again to warn Hakon to be quiet, when suddenly the sounds of a trap shattered their quiet stillness. The warrior in front of her simultaneously started to speak, but his words were abruptly drowned out by the vicious clang of steel. Eliya automatically lunged backwards at the sound of the trap, bumping uncomfortably into another body, but an apology was the last thing on her mind. The elf's quick reflexes caused her to be out of the way as the large man in front of her was knocked backwards, his shield luckily taking the brunt of the trap.

Eliya's eyes shifted quickly from her fallen comrade to the fire up ahead, where two visible goblins had been sitting. She was not surprised to see them both headed towards the group. Had Eliya been alone she simply would have disappeared and stealthily taken them out one by one, or for that matter skirted past them. But that was not an option. And now thanks to the clumsy warrior, sneaking by them was out of the question. At his inquiry, Eliya had no time to feel satisfied that he had looked to her for direction. There were two of them for sure, coming towards the mages. They were likely a scouting party guarding the interior of the cave. Further fighting could cause them to sound the alarm, or run off to warn the rest of the clan. As she quickly assessed the situation, in the back of Eliya's mind she thought about the fact that the Dunmer had likely taken the passage a little ways back. Either that or he had used magic to sneak by these two goblins.

"We don't want them to run off and warn anyone else." Eliya wanted to ask Mora to take one of them out, but with the cramped space in the corridor it would likely be a useless endeavor. "Wait. I have an idea." The Altmer was suddenly struck with an idea. She pushed past the armored man with little difficulty, (she was after all slender in frame) and strode purposely towards the two goblins. One of them had a torch in hand, both had swords drawn, though luckily neither had a ranged weapon. She was going to use a spell she had recently learned at the Arcane University and hopefully it would succeed.....otherwise she might find herself in a very very vulnerable situation. Eliya clung to the shadows of the cave as she approached the central opening, the darkness hiding her form even as the space between her and the goblins was quickly shortening. Abruptly she stopped, waiting for them. The flickering torch came closer and then they saw her. She was far enough away from her group by now that hopefully the darkness would hide them long enough for the goblins to think she was alone. They came at her then, one several feet ahead of the other. Quickly she moved, ducking and jumping away from the sweep of a sword. The air near her head whistled as she leaned away from a swipe that cut off a lock of hair.

Her face set in an expression of grim determination, Eliya reached forward as she spun away from the weapon, her fingers barely touching the leather armor of the goblin. At that single feathery touch, magicka released from her fingertips. (Commanding Touch) Abruptly the creature she touched stopped fighting. "Kill him." Eliya pointed her dagger towards the other creature and as if on cue the enchanted Goblin turned on his clan mate.

Eliya's dash from her group and release of magicka occurred in only a matter of seconds, though it seemed much longer.

Mora's nose wrinkled at the stench inside the cave, but she wasn't surprised or all that sickened. Being a healer, it wasn't uncommon for her to have to deal with wounds that had gotten infected and people she couldn't quite save who smelt of death. She learned very quickly how to keep from vomiting at such scents. The tightness of the cavern, however, was a real annoyance to the Wood Elf who relied on a little space in a battle so she didn't take out her companions in front of her with an ill-placed arrow. Another slight problem was the darkness, though it wasn't too bad here and her sharp elf eyes did a lot to break though the shadowy darkness. Why she hadn't thought of learning a night-eye spell was beyond her, but she had to deal with what was in front of her right now.

Like Eliya, Mora could also pick out the dark hole in the wall that was another corridor leading off into darker places of the cave. Also like her High Elf friend, she didn't want to stray down that passage and completely loose the advantage of their Nord wall of steel. So she followed along along.

Mora heard a slight shuffling in front of her, and she thought she saw the face of Eliya concealed in her shadow, but she couldn't tell what she was trying to communicate. She peered around Hakon to see the glimmer of firelight and had just enough time to realize that they needed to stop before the trap went off and Eliya backed up into her. Mora was glad that she didn't try aiming her bow, or Eliya would have been victim the oddest friendly fire ever. The Bosmer woman was about to try to squeeze around Hakon so she could get in a shot and at least halve the danger they were in, by Eliya told the party that she had an idea. Mora let the Altmer go in front of her around the Nord, but followed behind to provide support should anything unexpected happen. An arrow would fly a lot faster than the man in steel could run. "I'll cover you." Mora told Eliya quietly before she was out of whispered earshot. She didn't try to run all the way up the passageway with her friend in case part of the Altmer's plan involved her being by herself.

Eliya successfully got up close enough to the goblins to touch one of them, and Mora could make out the command that was given to the one she touched. The Bosmer nodded in satisfaction, assuming that Eliya had used a command spell or something similar. Just in case, Mora took aim with her bow. Sometimes command spells didn't work, especially with stronger minded creatures. That shouldn't be a problem with mere goblin scouts, but Mora preferred to err on the side of caution.

Neven Telvanni- Warlock

Health : Unharmed ┃ Magicka : Tapped┃ Fatigue : Rested ┃ Effects : Night Eye┃Equipped : Weaponward Cuirass (Resist Normal Weapons 9%) Leather Cuirass, Clothes, Mages Staff of Shock [Journeyman], Silver Longsword ┃ Quest Items : NA┃ Location : Goblin Jim's Cave

If the growing stench wasn’t an indication that Neven had indeed picked the right path he didn’t know what else could be. Granted this entire cave system reeked, but the heavy mucky scent was growing heavy the further Neven proceeded down the side passageway. This heavy smell had to be coming from the main group of Goblins and he was slowly sneaking his way toward them, not something the average mer or man would be doing, but Neven wasn’t average, so he pressed on confident that his magicka would serve to protect him. If not well his blade would soon be covered in the blood and entrails of any foolish goblin to cross him. Still even with his outward display of courage and bravery a tiny voice buried deep inside his mind tried to shout that regrouping with the others and going at the goblins as a unified force would ensure a successful mission and one with hopefully no one getting hurt. Neven had long since learned to ignore that voice of reason; arrogance was after all one of his many character faults, but not one he’d ever admit to.

After a few more meters his night eye spell wore off and he paused for just a second to recast the spell, just as he started off once more he heard a loud bang. The sound of stone smashing into steel echoed down the rock tunnel. Neven didn’t have much time to process what the sound might entail as he had just stepped into his own heap of trouble. The sudden crash, as much as he would have liked not to admit it, had started Neven causing him to lose focus on where he had been walking. His heavy leather boot kicked loose a rock that happened to be a trigger for what would be a serious of traps this cave had. From the cave’s ceiling a mini avalanche of large rocks and boulders came crashing down. Neven threw himself backwards as a wall of dust and grim filled the tunnel, he began to cough heavily as the dust filled his lungs. ’That’s just bloody great. Alert the whole damn cave and every living thing in it to your presence!’ Neven mentally berated himself for not paying attention. He brushed himself off and began to clear the rubble out of the way so he could continue on. This trap just made it even more clear that he was on the right track, and he’d be more alert for the next set of traps…

Coraline followed her teammates into the slim tunnel, the dank and putrid smell that lingered from within seemed to bother her. She noticed their face repulse at the scent just barely as her eyes focused rather quickly and allowed her to see slightly better, though, not entirely perfect. Basic shapes and outlines could be made out and some facial features close up were also able to be seen. Watching the faces and expressions, Coraline tried to mimic them. Feigning repulsion, she curled her nose and mouthed ''bleh'' as she pushed out her tongue as she tried to act out the same expressions as the rest of her team did.

The tunnel was narrow, dark and the temperature dropped slightly and she could make out the person in front of her mimic a ''shh'' motion with her index finger and lips. lt wasn't cold but it wasn't exactly sitting out in the sun. A small fire was up ahead and the team was started to make preparations when the sound of a trap went off. A snap of a rope then a large clunk of Harkon falling down onto the ground. His metal armor rang loudly in her ears and she was surprised that a whole heard of goblins weren't streaming towards them as if the flood gates had opened. Instead, they only were alerted to their presence. Dense creatures were too thick to notice the direction from which he sound came from. The sound could have echoed throughout the room giving it a near impossible way to pinpoint it. Though she would have though that there was only one entrance would have given away from where the disturbance came from. But apparently it wasn't so.

They were lucky for now. But a body jumped back into Coraline, Eliya's body pushed up against her own. Coraline's nose rammed uncomfortable against the spine of Eliya which caused her face to turn to her left and her cheeks were pressed against the same spot. Taking a step back she had to rub her nose quickly so she could get back to the threat at hand. Her eyes flashed open to the sight of Eliya taking the lead this time. Her small figure slid between Harkon and the wall and went towards the goblins. They caught sight of her as she slowly backed up into the corner. Closing in on her, Coraline started to panic and slip between her other two teammates with ease as her body was even smaller than Eliya's, scrapping her elbow against the cavern's wall to unsheathe her sword. Though as she was reaching the end of the pathway, she noticed Eliya just tap one of the advancing goblins then say a small command. The goblin obeyed and it became clear of Eliya's plan to Coraline. Though she still walked near towards them as a ''command'' spell wasn't the most reliable spell she knew. They tended to wear off with the more advanced creatures. Even if goblin's were stupid, it still left Coraline on edge that she would attempt to even do such a thing. But usually the goblin's in these parts of the cave weren't the muscle of the tribe. Just a look out. Ones that could be discarded easily.

She watched as the one under Eliya's command swing it's weapon towards it's ally, well it's now said enemy. The two goblins started to swing at one another and it made her feel uneasy to the whole idea of her free will being snatched away with a single spell. Watching the two green skinned shriveled arms swing at each other with their weapons, one held an iron mace that had four plates that went of in each direction while the other wielded an iron short sword. The one under Eliya's command held the sword and both of them attacked each other viciously, although it was clear that the one with the mace was confused to as why it's friend was now trying to kill him. It didn't stop it from attacking back without remorse though.

((OoC: l didn't want to take control of the goblins but l did give them weapons to help us telling the two apart))

Hakon Vermundr

Sometimes Hakon was amazed at how useful magic could be and other times he was terrified, but this time when it was a bit of both. Taking the will of another creature to bend it to your own will was practical when it came to beasts and even goblins but it often paved the way to more…flexible use with more intelligent creatures. He could not imagine what it would be like if his will had been momentarily taken and used to kill a friend or comrade. Were the creatures even aware of what their bodies were doing against their will? Whatever the case, the spell would end sooner or later and then there would only be one goblin left standing. Then the group would have to deal with killing it either before the spell wore off or after. He did not know if Eliya or the others would hesitate if the creature was still obedient but he knew that he had score to settle for the little trap they set up.

He started walking towards the goblins, shield raised once more in case the spell wore off before one killed the other. He gave Mora enough space when he walked past her to ensure that if anything went wrong that she had a clear line of sight to the goblins. Shortly afterwards he was beside Eliya, watching as the battle between the goblins played out in the favor of the one that had been controlled. Eventually, the other goblins finally died with the remaining one heavily injured and still under the command for who knew how long. Turning his head towards Eliya he addressed her and the other members of the group in a loud whisper. “No need to waste any arrows or magic on this one…doesn’t look like it would take much to finish it.”

With that said, he cautiously moved up the creature until he was within striking distance. He could almost see the spell beginning to wear off just by looking into the creatures eyes, something he didn’t want to contend with if it shouted loud enough to warn the rest of its kind before he could kill it. So before that came to pass Hakon thrusted his longsword into the creatures chest, piercing its lung so it would not be able to draw enough breath to warn any other goblins. Then it fell upon his shield, half-dead before he twisted the blade to finish it off. When it finally died he let it slip to the floor and off his blade before walking back towards the others. “Someone of lighter footing should lead now, I think. If the last trap was of any indication then there could be more later and I would not want to endanger the mission due to my luck.”

Eliya ~

Eliya kept a slight distance between herself and the two fighting goblins, the one she'd touched seemed to have the upper hand and it wasn't too long before his target soon breathed his last. A good thirty seconds had gone by and the mage assassin knew that her spell was likely nearing its end. She spun one of her silver blades in hand, planning to take out the single goblin before it regained its senses. In the distance she heard a large crash, it sounded perhaps like an avalanche, a trap no doubt, sprung accidentally or intentionally by a friend or foe? Her eyes automatically looked away as they searched for the location of the noise, her green orbs rested on the others in her group but they did not seem to be the cause of the disturbance. Which meant that it was likely the rogue Dunmer.

Her eyes caught the outline of Mora and her bow, covering the Altmer as she'd promised. Perhaps she should have simply let the female Bosmer take out the first one with an arrow. Eliya's choice of action had been risky by several standards, but then again, forethought wasn't her strongest attribute. It doesn't matter now anyways, she thought to herself as she turned back to the last Goblin, the clank of Hakon's armor making himself known even as she had her back to him. The sound of his approach caused Eliya to pause and she stepped back to let him take the kill. No need to be greedy.

She nodded at his words when he spoke, there was truth in what he said. Eliya watched him thrust his sword into the creature and within seconds the life had faded from the once breathing scout. The others approached them now and they stood huddled as a loose group momentarily before moving on. The thought to check the dead goblin's bodies rose briefly in the Altmer's mind before being dismissed just as quickly. These were lowly scouts, if anything they might have a couple lock picks. It wouldn't be worth the effort of taking the time to do. When Hakon offered to let someone else take the reigns of leadership Eliya quickly stepped forward. "I'll lead. Lets go back a little ways, I recall seeing a passage."

Smoothly and comfortably Eliya took position at the front of the group, leading them back from the open room into the narrow corridor they had just traversed. They entered the passageway, which surprisingly quickly opened into a larger corridor then the narrow one they had left. It allowed for two people to comfortably walk side by side as opposed to just one person. Eliya gestured for Hakon to walk beside her. Still walking in a world of blue hues, she noticed the straggler of their group up ahead, digging through rubble. He was covered in dust and it was apparent that this was the commotion she'd heard minutes earlier. Unfortunately he appeared generally unharmed. Even as she saw the arrogant elf, an unpleasant taste settled in her mouth. She didn't want to talk to him. She'd wait and see if someone else in the group said something as they approached.
