Red eyes focused back on Hel as she asked her question. The expression on the Mayor's face was even grimmer than before. "Well, The truth is the last Sheriff had a run in with Lee Van Cliff about a month ago." He seemed reluctant to tell them, he didn't want to scare them off but they needed to know the truth. "He was a good man, as brave as they come, but not quick enough on the draw. One bullet was all it took and the Sheriff was nothing more than FEAR. Jack rest his soul." The demon tipped his hat in respect to the man who used to occupy this very office. It had been a terrible fate.

That’s where you fine folks come in.” Turning to the desk the Mayor took up a wooden box and opened it extracting what looked like three worn and tarnished stars. “This is not a task for the weak of heart. I need deputies who can get a job done. I’m trusting you to help us take our town back.

Striding over to the three Mayor William Bennett gave them each a star to pin on their shirt. “There are many dangers on the road ahead of you. I have something else to help you along on this journey. It's not right to go in unarmed.” Again the demon went back to the desk and opening up one of the drawers he pulled out three, semi-fake looking, revolver guns and placed them out for the three to take. Along with those he placed three accompanying boxes with their ‘ammo’ which happened to be paint balls. So it seemed they would actually be shooting things.

---

Mitsu was wide eyed behind her mask at first. The atmosphere had sucked her right in. It wasn't until the man started to explain that she realized this was part of the show. Not that it helped for long. The demon was so into his character Mitsu couldn't help but feel the situation creeping up on them. Nervously she took the worn star handed to her and looked it over. It had Deputy Sheriff written across it and there seemed to be a dent on one of the arms. Mitsu had to wonder what that was from.

"S..shooting?" She questioned with a squeak looking to the guns sitting on the desk. The lycan had no idea this was part of the deal. At least it wasn't real right? RIGHT? For now she would play along, she wanted Mot to have a good time. Hopefully he didn't think this was too childish. Mitsu had been rather excited about it, but then again she had been excited about the ball pit and that was very much for scarlings.

Hel was leaning forward on her crate more as the demon focused on her, anticipating how the past sheriff could have gone out. In a blaze of glory, right!? His death must have been rather heroic that the others would have been singing his praises, and it took a long while before he was able to he slain—

What!?" Hel snapped, immediately looking incredibly disappointed. “One shot!? That’s all it took?” The reaper groaned and flopped backwards on her crate, ending up on the floor. Lame! But wait! She was immediately back up once again, looking thoughtful. Were these Lee Van Cliff boys that good? She was grinning now. Worthy adversaries!? Her attention was quickly diverted when they were presented with shinies, and Hel took the one she was offered, and looked it over for a moment before pinning it on her apron strap. “No need to worry, friend.” She assured. “The three of us come from the best Academy in the land! We’ll easily take care of your opponents!” Oh ho, so the boasting started now, it did! She just summon her spear and…

Wait…guns?

The reaper quickly reached out and snatched the one that was closet to her and started looking it over. She resisted the urge to groan again. Guns!? She wasn’t a long range fighter! Hel looked over at Mot, staring at him for a moment before passing the boasting on over to him. “Bet I can handle this better than you can.” Firing a gun couldn’t be that difficult, right?

As far as Mot could tell, this game involved him patrolling the town and finding the bad guy, then shooting him with a paintball gun? You know what Mot called this?
Winning.
He grinned as he was not only handed a badge, but also a gun. Oh boy! This game might end up way more cool than he thought.

His head whipped to meet Hel's boast with a sly smirk. "I bet you you're totally wrong, little lady." Mot picked up the weapon and loaded it with ease. "You'll be begging for my help in no time." The boil stood, adjusting the ammo and badge on his person until he was satisfied. "Alright then. When can we start?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 01, 2011 2:37 pm

It seemed this group was eager to start though the demon was unsure of the challenge that had been issued between the two reapers. That was new.

Immediately," He answered Mot, his crimson gaze turning toward the youth. "But I need to stay here and attend to business. You won’t be going alone though. I have a guide set up to help lead you through your mission. His name is Jake Bundy.” The demon gave a short sharp whistle and a door off to the side opened and in entered…a gnome dressed as a cowboy. It was….a gnome dressed as a cowboy. IT WAS A GNOME DRESSED AS A COWBOY. It was…moving on. “Jake here will help you meet your objectives as you move through town. Save the people, get rid of the bandits and if you’ve made it that far with your lives…” Maybe that was saying too much. “Take out Lee Van Cliff. I’m counting on you three. Make me proud and if ya make it through this adventure there might be a reward in it for ya.”

After he was done explaining the Mayor walked to the door where Jake was reluctantly waiting to lead the group out. He certainly didn't look pleased to be in this role. The clothes he wore looked like they had been ripped off of some scarling dress up doll and the hat was far to big for his head.

Good luck to you…” The demon eyed them slightly as they exited the building a grave tone to his voice as the last of them exited. “You’ll need it.” He finished before closing the door behind himself.

Now what lay before the three was a dusty old western town and it was surprisingly big considering what the building looked like on the outside. There was a saloon, a bank, a few shops here and there, a doctor’s office, as well as a few other buildings scattered throughout. At the very end of the road directly in front of the Sherriff’s office they had just left was a clock tower. It seemed to be the tallest thing next to the water tower not far off.

Reluctantly Mitsu took up her gun and grabbed her box of ammo. She fiddled with the object for a moment trying to figure out how to load it while the demon went on to explain about their mission. How did this thing -clatter clatter clatter- and there went all her paintballs, scattered across the floor as she had been fighting to get the gun open.

This didn't bode well. Scrambling Mitsu tried to gather as many of her 'bullets' as she could when it seemed they were heading out the door. Ah, she was going to be left behind! "W..wait!"

She didn't even have a chance to pick up all her ammo before she was....was that a gnome? Mitsu hadn't been paying attention to who Jake Bundy was but....wow. Just wow. Finding herself staring Mitsu looked back toward the Mayor as he closed the door with some comforting words of parting. W...what did that mean? OnO

The only thing I’ll be begging for Mot, is a challenge from you.” Hel replied back haughtily, glancing out of the corner of her eye as the cowboil loaded his gun with ease. Err…she had no idea how to load hers. Hel acted like this wasn’t a problem yet as she stood as well and collected her box of ammo, just holding onto it for now.

Hel looked interested when the demon mentioned they’d have a guide, and turned to look at the door, brows furrowing when no one seemed to step through…until she looked down. Was…that a gnome dressed as a cowboil? Hel snorted. Loudly. She was also fighting the strong desire to punt it, and instead focused on Mayor Bennett’s last words to them for now. Oooh…objectives and a reward! Awesome! When warned with a grave tone, Hel waved it off with a hand. “The only luck we’ll be needing friend, is that there’s no ghouls on the enemy side.” This statement was a direct taunt at Mot, whom Hel was staring at with mocking grin.

The valkyrie paused when she heard the paintball pellets scatter all over the floor, and helped Mitsu to pick some of them up before they were finally ushered out. She held them out to the lycan, waiting for the ghoul to take them from her before she moved any further, but took this time to look over their environment with a keen eye. “Are you ready to be victorious, Mitsu?” Hel asked with a grin to get the lycan amped up and ready.

Was that a gnome dressed as a cowboil?

Hel's continuing taunting was earning her a nasty scowl from Mot. Especially from that ghouls-on-the-enemy-side remark. Oh, so this was how she was going to play it now? The boil was seriously considering a little accidental friendly fire against the other reaper. Would.. that be against the rules?

...He considered this.

Once they were left to their own devices, Mot headed outside, giving the town a long look. He tried to hold back the grin that wanted to form on his face. The town was perfect, but he also wanted to win this game. So, he eyed the buildings suspiciously, looking for enemies.

Alright,” Squeaked the gnome in a somewhat western twang. Only somewhat because it was far from being good. He didn’t seem to be as in character as the Mayor was. In fact, the gnome didn’t look quite pleased to be playing this part but hell a job was a job after all. “The Badland Boys tend to hang around town now a days.” He continued. “You’ll probably find a great deal of them at the Saloon.” He pointed toward the bar a few paces off. “Your job is to clean'em out.” He then pointed to their guns so that they knew what he meant by ‘clean them out’. “If you can manage that we will move on.” He didn't sound like he thought they could do it. How encouraging.

No further words were given as Jake made his way toward the Saloon motioning the group to follow. There was the quick paced tink tink tink noise from the spurs on Jake's boots as the gnome led the group forward. With a much shorter stride he had to work double time to keep up and he didn’t seem too pleased about it. Looking to the group as he walked up to the building he paused. “You better be ready for this. Load your guns. Be sure to fire fast and duck for cover. If I can I will help.” More like if he felt like it. That was all the explaining he did before pushing through the swinging doors, the group walking in on a scene of people sitting around tables, most seeming nervous as they tried to enjoy their drinks. The piano music was playing loud filling the room with a western themed tune.

At the bar stood three men, obviously out of place compared to the other patrons, chatting amongst themselves. They continued until the three entered the room, going silent when they saw Jake was leading them.

"Those are your men right there.” Jake pointed to the men at the counter. With that the piano music went silent.

Surprise Attack Round

Everyone has 6 HP (bandits and players)

To fire: choose at bandit in your post (Bandit1, Bandit2, Bandit3) and roll 2D6. The first die determines a hit or miss (evens = hit / odd = miss). The second die determines the damage dealt. Bandits have the same chances of doing damage. The party, as a whole, currently has three revives that Jake the gnome can might give them.

Mitsu held onto her gun tightly with unsure fingers as she looked to David...err...Jake the gnome when he gave his instruction. Nervous anticipation was bubbling up as she looked at her team mates were seemed to be issuing a challenge among themselves.

"V..victorious?" Mitsu questioned looking toward the gnome as he headed toward the Saloon. Oh Jack it was starting. Taking a deep breath Mitsu willed herself to move.....she willed herself to move....she took a slow dragging footstep forward. It was a start at least. At the pace she was going Jake was already pretty far ahead.

Looking to the two in her party nervously she forced herself to pick up her pace stopping a couple of feet behind the gnome as he paused. Load the gun. Huff puff! Mitsu had already tried! Fumbling Mitsu tried to load the gun again only managing to get a single paintball in the holder before she was forced to enter the Saloon behind Jake.

Instantly Mitsu was on guard, tension running through her body forcing her to squeeze the trigger on her gun before she really had chance to aim. It fired prematurely but still managed to hit the bandit in the middle splattering red paint down his arm. Oops?

The desire to punt this gnome all the way to the clock tower was still there, but it’d be counterproductive to get rid of their guide, right? Right! “What do you mean if we manage?” Hel scoffed at Jake. “Of course we will!” She then looked over at Mitsu and gave her another encouraging grin. “Yes, victorious!”

The valkyrie followed after the gnome, and paused when he did, frowning lightly. Oh yeah…she needed to load this gun. Hel glanced about and then stared at her ammo box for a long moment before fiddling with it. After a few more moments, she managed to load the gun, and grinned to herself. Success! This wasn’t going to be a problem (hopefully)! As soon as they moved into the saloon, Hel scoped out the entire room, taking note of the occupants and items within the room before staring at their enemies.

She grinned, and a free hand pointed at them as she puffed out her chest. “Your reign of terror is over!” Hel bellowed out with amusement, “We’re here to end you!” She then watched as Mitsu took the initiative and shot first, cheering the lycan on when she managed to hit one of the bandits. “Excellent job, friend!”

(Bandit 1)

The valkyrie didn’t hesitate as she held out her gun (to hesitate now would be a sign of weakness), and aimed at the nearest bandit and fired. The valkyrie almost couldn’t believe her luck as she nailed the bandit and felled him instantly. Hel quickly got over the surprise, and was now grinning like a fiend as she cast a sideways glance at Mot. “Handling a gun is easy!” Oh Hel, such a brat you were! She couldn’t help but continue to dog the grim reaper, despite the fact that they were here to cheer him up. She was too easily caught up in a competition of sorts.

Not wanting to just stand around and get pegged though, the reaper moved over to the nearest table, not at all caring for the patrons seated at it as she kicked it over and then ducked behind it. “Pssst! Mitsu!” She hissed excitedly, and waved at the lycan to come take cover with her.

Stepping into the Saloon made him feel like a real deputy. The boil even looped his thumbs into his belt loops as he eyed the trio from within his hat's brim. Even the gnome's lack of faith was ignored.

However, Hel's boasting could not be. She really got into the role, and Mot couldn't help but smirk. Yes, egg them on, Hel. Good idea.

Finally, the real fun began! Mits and Hel both got a shot in, and Mot was ready to cheer them on.. but Hel's little comment on the use of a gun irked the cowbell. It hit him deep. He cursed under his breath and took aim with his own weapon, intent to show up the valkyrie.

Unfortunately, though the shot was a good one, it missed his target and hit the row of bottles behind the bar, sending booze spilling all over the trio. "Jackdamnit!" Mot dived to the opposite side of bar from the two ghouls.

((1&2 aimed at Mitsu, 3&4 at Mot, 5&6 at Hel, and 7&8 are Mitsu's roll))

The bandits were scrambling to move to duck for cover. A table was overturned and another dove behind the bar. The first bandit wasn't so lucky. BOOM HEADSHOT! Hel had hit him square between the eyes forcing the bandit to actually fall backward and topple over a table. Might not have been pretending, that would sting in the morning.

The remaining two bandits peeked out from their cover to take aim and fire, the bandit behind the bar wielding duel weapons. Hey...was that cheating?

Mitsu stood in a dumbfounded bafflement that she had actually hit someone. She had...actually hit someone. Now with an empty gun she stood frozen in an almost horror like state. What had she done?!

pssst

The noise barely caught Mitsu's attention in the ruckus as the Saloon patrons were scrambling about, yelling, and trying to find cover of their own. Looking over it seemed Hel had created a sort of cover for them which Mitsu took advantage of. But...where had Mot gone?

"Hel..." Mitsu spoke just loud enough to be heard over the noise, her back pressed against the overturned table. "Y..you remember we're trying to cheer Mot up right?" She wasn't sure this egging on and err...smack talking would really do the job.

She didn't have much time to say anything else, however. They were under fire! Mitsu felt something graze her arm and panicked trying to reload her gun again. It took her a few times but one she managed it she peeked around the corner of the table and shot.

In the back of the room Jake the gnome took residence against the back wall pulling a flask from his back pocket. With a simple twist of the hand the top was popped open and he took a quick swig. It wouldn't be surprising if there was actually alcohol in it. For now he was content to be lazy though not too concerned about being hit. He was fairly short after all.

Hel was about to mock Mot again for missing, but after seeing him destroy an entire row of bottles, she thought that that was pretty cool!

The reaper looked over to Mitsu when the ghoul joined her, grinning widely before it faltered at her reminder. Oh…Hel blinked, looking sheepish for a brief moment. That’s right, they were…! “Ah, you’re righ—“ It seemed karma decided to strike back as well as Hel got BOOM HEADSHOT-ed. “Mother Jacker!” The reaper snarled as she was pelted in the side of the head, reaching up to touch the spot only to find her hand coming back stained with blue. Hel was about to go show the bandit a thing or two, but somewhere a voice reminded her that she was knocked out, and thus needed to drop for now.

The ghoul scowled before she fell to the ground on her stomach, and looked up at Mitsu with a burning gaze. “Avenge me, Mitsu!” She meant it. Seriously.

((Attacking Bandit 2))

Mot had his back to the obstacle he had been hiding behind, looking over at the scene between Mitsu and Hel. He couldn't help but snort at the headshot Hel had suffered. Served her right as far as he was concerned. He peeked over the obstacle, only to get grazed over his shoulder by a paintball. He hissed and slid back down, readying himself to take one of the bandits out.

Suddenly Mot stood up and fired a shot at one of them, effectively downing him before the cowboil dived behind Mitsu and Hel, joining their side.

((Rolling for Jake the Gnome to help Hel. Anything over a 10 is success))

After calling to the girl to let her know she was out Jake stood in the back for a moment longer. There were still a lot of people moving about. He didn't want to be punted. So instead he leaned against the back wall doing a whole lot of nothing. Was it surprising? Probably not.

((1/2=aimed at Mitsu 3/4=aimed at Mot 5/6= Mitsu's shot aimed at remaining bandit))

Mot had successfully taken down the second bandit, that left only one, the bandit behind the bar with the duel pistols. He waited his time trying to be patient before standing up, taking aim, and firing.

Mitsu went wide eyed seeing Hel get shot in the head much the same as the bandit she had hit. At least the paint was blue and not red. It was far less panic inducing. "A...avenge you?" Mitsu squeaked.

Thankfully Mot had come to join them after having taken another bandit down. "M..Mot..." The lycan whimpered her body rigid with fear. This was not the kind of adventure she thought she would be apart of. Well, there was only one bandit left. Taking a deep breath Mitsu leaned around the table to take a shot but just as she pulled the trigger a paint ball splattered against her mask. The gun in her hands jerked up but still fired, the 'bullet' flying across the room to splatter paint right between the last bandit's eyes. BOOM HEADSHOT!

All bandits were down, the crowd in the bar slowly started to peek out from their hiding places. After a moment of silence and confirmation that the even was over clapping began. They were pleased with the young group's work.

"Well, done." Jake called from the back, his tone not nearly as impressed. Now that the ruckus was over the gnome made his way over to the group looking at the reaper on the floor. "You can get up now, Missy."

Hel just glared at the gnome from across the room, admist all the chaos. The urge…to punt…rising…

She shot a look over at Mot when she heard the reaper snort, and then jerked her head back up at Mitsu. “Yes, avenge me, friend! You need to restore my honor by felling the rest of the bandits!” She heard another shot echo from Mot, and looked back at him to see him join them. Remember. She reminded herself. Here to make him feel better. Besides…there was someone else she could easily take her frustration out on later. It was suspiciously gnome shaped and wearing a cowboil costume.

I was impressed you destroyed all the bottles in the row up there!” Hel stated up to Mot in a tone that wasn’t mocking, but truthful. Her head then whipped back in time to see Mitsu get pelted on the mask, and she peeked out from behind the table to see the lycan deliver her own head shot to the last bandit. Hel grinned. “You did it, Mitsu! You have reclaimed my honor!” She cheered, and once she was actually given permission to stand, the reaper leapt to her feet and spun on her heel, staring down at the gnome.

The look she gave him promised him a free one way ticket out of Buzzard’s Breath after this was all over. “What next, Jer….Jake.”
