Oh Jack.
Ohjackohjackohjack what was she supposed to do?! Xiu stiffened when he touched her chin, her whole body freezing up. She didn't even notice the smile that had briefly crossed his face. Looking incredibly nervous now, her gaze flickered away, returning to him for only short seconds before she looked away now. Oh, this was...this was really awkward. Surely he wasn't actually serious, right?
She was still waiting for him to yell "JUST KIDDING".
"N-no, it's not that I...I mean, I just...um..." Whimper.

He let out a laugh, letting his hand fall. "I'm serious when I say you aren't ready to be on the squad," he said, not taking back what he had just told her. Something inside of him rebelled at the very idea. "Figure out what love is, Xiu. Hell, I'll try and help," he said. "But I don't think it's as easy as what you ghouls think it is."
It never was, as far as he could tell. He picked up his half eaten cupcake, finishing it off and throwing the wrapper into the trash before picking up the box. "But..." he said. "This isn't the end of this. Just a little... backing down to let you stop blushing so hard."
He gave her a smile, an honest grin. "I do like you, Xiu. Don't ever doubt that." Even if he was a complete and utter d**k, and she would probably be better off if he didn't.
Right?

She hadn't said a single thing during this whole exchange. Actually, it was probably that she didn't know what to say. She just kept waiting and waiting for the line that never came, and now...now he was leaving, and he still hadn't told her that he was just teasing. Because that's all he was doing, right?
...R-right?
Despite the fact there was a flurry of panicking and confusion whirring in her mind, her expression was completely blank as she raised a hand to wave. She only managed a tiny, weak smile as Roch turned to leave, and once he had left the room, the Baku stood up, walked to her bed, and flopped face-down in her pillows.
Oh jack, what was she supposed to do?
