"Hmm." Rakt considered the little snippets of stories he gave, fascinated. How romantic that his mother had been given her name by his father! And the storm was quite dramatic, wasn't it? "I would offer to help, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be very useful, since we've only just met."

Desperate as he was, Amali was willing to overlook the reasonable fact that they had only just met and so Rakt might not have any helpful insight. He would leave no stone unturned in his search for his name.
"Maybe that doesn't matter," he said, puffing himself up a little bit like it wasn't too late to make a good impression, "Has anything really stood out about me so far?"

Put on the spot, the red lioness hesitated, blinking at the individual before her. Did anything...stand out? Bemused, she tilted her head, trying to pick something out. "Not really? I mean, you seem very nice and all, but you're not really...obvious, the way some people are, if that makes sense."
"Maybe if I got to know you better?" After she said it, Rakt-may regreted her phrasing, and quickly tried to backtrack. "I mean, not - oh, that didn't come out like I meant it to."

He made a face, though he maintained his posture despite this unusual criticism. He knew plenty of people who would argue he was too obvious. Maybe not obvious.. bold? Pushy? Mouthy. Yes, something like that.
His mind was pushed off track of his flaws when she offered an interesting invitation that she immediately tried to take back- it was only made more awkward by her stumbling but he put on a smile again, shaking his head.
"That's OK," he said brightly, "No harm in making a new friend, right?"
Amali could use a friend, he hadn't spent much of his time out here trying to make any new friends. At first it didn't seem useful since he would be leaving.. but now it had been so long, life had to be easier if you were trying to be amicable.

Oh, dear. She wasn't usually one for awkwardness, but she'd gotten herself all mixed up in it now. The unintentional innuendo, which he may not even have picked up on if she hadn't drawn attention to it, had rather flustered her. Not that he wasn't a handsome fellow, but she wasn't that forward.
Rakt cleared her throat and smiled. "No harm at all. I'd like that."

Amali wanted to stop thinking about his name quest, he wanted very much to stop and focus on something else for a while- but he couldn't help but think a distraction might be helpful, that maybe he would learn something about himself if he stopped trying. But was he really not trying if it was still on his mind? He was starting to worry his mane would turn gray before he got to go home, he couldn't get it off his minds. He had to try anyway, though.
"Me too," he said, smiling back.
