Babylon might have gone the slightest bit misty-eyed, although the visor made it hard to tell. Here it sounded like Castor had defied fate and rewritten the ending of Romeo and Juliet for Lina and how could you not find that at least a little bit romantic? He knew he did, despite better attempts to keep a straight face. Whether Lina knew it or not there was a lot of truth in her words, and her wisdom (beyond her years! Because he was trying to reason they were nearly the same age and Babylon wasn't nearly that smart) only made the squire admire her more.
Dark and twisty past included.
Having heard descriptions of corruption that used words like "broken" and "twisted," he found it hard to hold Lina's confessed killings against her. She'd been tantamount to brainwashed, and less than ire it seemed the Negaverse was beginning to draw his pity, because rather than awakening naturally they'd been turned into something they'd never been meant to be.
The Blood Moon Court, on the other hand, had no one to answer to than themselves. "Anyone who would lead their team in needless cruelty of their own free will is not fit to lead," uttered the squire, concentrating hard on the words coming out of his mouth. The statement felt a bit stilted, but he was forcing himself to try and operate on Lina's level. She was setting the intellectual pace, and all he could do was try and keep up.
"A person like that's a pychopath, not a hero," Babylon added, wincing sourly. The more he learned about Ares, the more she sounded sort of like Josef Mengele but with super powers. Never a good combination. "We're not planning to kill anyone," he repeated for emphasis. It just seemed... killing seemed like such an un-Europa-like action that he had difficulty imagining the Jovian captain ever giving such a command, let alone committing the act herself.
"So, I guess Cosmos is the girl to talk to about purification?" the squire asked, and gave Euanthe a reassuring pat on the arm. "Don't worry, we don't have to go find her tonight."

Euanthe half-squeaked in distress at the surge of anger her comment - a presumptuous comment in retrospect - had prompted from Lina. She stood and listened with her eyes averted uncomfortably, feeling chastened. "I'm sorry," she murmured, "I should not have said..."
Why? How could anyone reason that to stop evil, they must do evil? Euanthe was seized by a thousand more questions, though she didn't dare to ask them now. Stuffing her foot in her mouth once was more than enough, thank you. But so much had gone on in the past that was too painful to talk about, yet so deeply intertwined with the events of the present. Euanthe wanted to defend her image of the Senshi as a force of good - not just against individuals like Zinkenite who challenged that notion, but also against her own doubts.
When even Lina, who had stood on both sides of this war, found the whole of the Negaverse to have more honor than the unstable, disparate Senshi it really did make Euanthe wonder if she wasn't possibly on the wrong side. She remembered the strange, beguiling words of Zinkenite, so full of conviction, which had held her in a state of confusion for quite some time after their meeting. No, those were dangerous thoughts to flirt with. If anything Lina had shown them the truth of it. Those who fought for the Negaverse were bound in thrall to a dark will, to chaotic power that dominated even the strongest minds. Senshi had only themselves to answer to. The Blood Moon Court deserved rage. The Negaverse elicited pity.
Were Euanthe privy to Babylon's thoughts she would have agreed with him about the Romeo and Juliet aspect of Lina and Castor's romance. It must have seemed equally doomed to them at the time. Worse, even. The play's titular characters could have avoided death if not for coincidence, but for Castor and Lina there was only death without Cosmos. "S- so," Euanthe started, nearly jumping out of her skin when Babylon patted her, "that's good, because I don't know where we'd even start. Someone who can break the darkness' hold on a person like that has to be really important. No way we can just walk up to her and ask her to do the same for everyone." Too bad, because that would be an awesome solution to this whole war thing. If Cosmos could then she probably would've.
But she had come to Lina and Castor in their darkest moment. It's been said that it's always darkest before the dawn, but in this case did everything need to be utterly hopeless before a miracle could occur?

A thoughtful expression came over the bluenette's face. Lina Knight paced a few steps, back and forth, listening to the conversation around her as she thought. There was a way to get in touch with Cosmos, a way she hadn't thought of much so far because well...it didn't seem fair to go running to a phenomenal being of cosmic power because things weren't going so well. Her life was her life and she had to make the most of it.
What Babylon and Euanthe wanted, however, roughly paralleled her own wants and needs. More knights, more of her old friends here on her side where they belonged. Taking those she cared about, helped train, some she even loved could be safe and with her. It was worth putting herself out there to help however she could wasn't it? Lina thought so. Pacing another nervous moment or two she knit her brows and puffed out her cheeks a bit.
"Well, I may know how to get in touch with Cosmos. It's a long shot but I could see if she'd be willing to talk with you guys? Meet or something?" Hands spread helplessly, something that the knight hated. Helpless was almost saying that you were too stupid to come up with a solution but what else could you do when it was out of your hands.

Babylon's face lit up, sort of like his lantern, as he shook off his growing fatigue and nodded at Lina. "Could you try?" he asked cheerfully. "I mean, I'd owe you for, like, forever." As if he wasn't already eternally indebted to her - but if you just kept piling on the debt there came a time when you just wound up defaulting on your loans and even though Babylon wasn't planning to do that, he was also kind of counting on that place being pretty far away.
Maybe if he paid her back in increments...? Then again, it was kind of hard to do that on a life debt.
"I think," said the squire, glancing at the flagging senshi beside him, "That I had better make sure this one gets home okay?" After his sister's pseudo-rape at the hands of a Negaverse Lieutenant, he had resigned himself to never ever complain about being a designated driver/walker/roof jumper ever again. It was all part of being chivalrous.
"Thank you for your help, Lina," he added with a sincere smile. He wrapped a steadying hand around Euanthe's bicep. "You ready to go? Just tell me where to take you."

"Really?" Started Euanthe at the same time as Babylon, her hands coming together in front of her chest in her enthusiasm. Lina might have felt helpless, but apparently she had quite impressed them both. This would be a huge step toward their goals if it went through, and it wasn't a step that could be taken without Lina. Just the thought that there might be even a chance- it made her heart beat a little faster, as though rehearsing for the nervousness an actual meeting would induce.
"That's very kind, thank you," Euanthe said when Babylon mentioned bringing her home. She seemed almost surprised, as if she hadn't considered that he would take her back too. Babylon had arranged the meeting, Euanthe didn't figure it was his responsibility to take her back home as well... but it was a welcome development nonetheless. It was funny, now that she was finally feeling awake their meeting was over! "You wouldn't have to take me too far," she said. "Just to the Central Library. I can take a bus from there."
She looked back at the Knight of Mercury. Unable to fully bow on account of Babylon's hand on her arm, Euanthe nodded her head in a respectful gesture. "Thank you, Lina, for meeting us tonight and for all your help. I'm- I hope we can see each other again soon. Until then, stay safe!"
With that, Euanthe was ready to head back in the direction from which she and Babylon had came. It felt like moving forward.

Her smile split wide at their obvious delight at her offer. "Don't worry Babylon, I'll just make you take me to Shufflepucks one day and introduce you to the delicious, godly treat known as the cinnamon roll." Hands grabbed her elbows behind her back and she turned to walk off into the night away from the glowing squire and his delicate charge. One hand tossed off a wave and a return wish to Euanthe.
"I think I'd like that very much. I'll be sure to send you a note when I've talked to Cosmos, to see if she'd be willing to come and talk to you guys. If not maybe I can ask her your questions myself and see what sort of information there is to be had." Certainly more information on any topic was a good idea whether or not the amazing senshi in purest white was willing to talk to a group at large.
Lina, rather private on the terms of her own past and what she was and was not after, would have understood that entirely. Watching until Babylon and Euanthe turned the corner towards their destination Lina closed her eyes and extended her senses. They would probably get through the night without trouble; Negaverse officers rarely attacked a pair. Whistling just a bit under her breath the theme of the Horde the glowing knight turned into the shadows, heading for her own warm, safe bed.
