She offered him a friendly smile. the glint in his eye said he needed some kindness. "My father's herd is what I call home.. well it's not his but he belongs to it. Very nice family group it is.. supportive and friendly."

"Some place to belong, sounds rather good right now. It's been..." He let his voice trail off, he's mind was on Charlotte. The ache in his heart brought pain to his face. Each memory was washing over him now, unable to stop it.

She smiled and nodded. "You're free to check out the herd with me some time if you like.. I know the lead mare's always taking in new members.. letting them come and go as they please.. she's very nice.. laid back and accepting." She smiled but her smile faded as she saw the pain on his face. It was often hard to hide such expressions from her since she'd lost her hearing. "Is anything the matter that you might need a shoulder to lean on?"

Aponi came back to himself, "No. Nothing that can change anymore. Nothing that I can talk about. Sometimes...things are just over, just...gone. You know?" His saddened eyes met hers, the grief evident in his.

She offered him a small smile. "It may be gone, friend.. but with loss often comes new life.. You eventually pull yourself together and move past your downfalls. I may be deaf... but if all I did was to wallow in my own self pity.. I'd have surely faded away as a foal. Sometimes.. It just takes a kind soul to help raise us up when we're down." Reaching out, she ruffled his forelock with her muzzle in a friendly sort of fashion. She'd grown so wise due to her handicap, after all it had opened her eyes to so much at such a young age she had to over come it all.

As she said new life, Aponi felt the tears stinging his eyes. "New life is what killed her...she died in childbirth. They died...too." It was the first time he'd ever said it outloud. It had been the first time he dared to.

She frowned some as she read his lips. "I'm sorry.. I didn't know.." She thought of anything to say to console him.. but nothing would come. Instead, she stepped close to him and pulled him close to her with her neck, embracing him into a hug. Sometimes the best way to console another was just to be there.. to be a shoulder to lean on when they need it most.
Binky lifted her head and blinked at the stallion. It was one of the few times she wasn't being mischievous. As Idonea embraced him, she lifted up a paw and patted him on the nose to let him know it was all right.

Aponi felt the tears fall as Idonea embraced him. This was the first time he'd told anyone--the first time he could be consoled about Charlotte's death. "T-thank." He stopped, he couldn't get the rest of the words out. But he knew she understand.
The little familiar, Binky was patting his nose. Even she was showing kindness. The tears continued to fall, and his heart was surging feeling like it was about to burst. "It..doesn't get easier."

Binky frowned slightly. She knew Nea couldn't hear him and with his head over her shoulder, she could feel vibrations of speech but not see the mouth that formed the words. "It's ok Mr flutter... It may take long time.. but some time. you will find closure with it.. Keeping her in your heart always even after. she'll live forever through the love you felt for her. So if you think. so long as you remember the fond times you shared.. she'll never be any further than your own mind." She smiled wide, fluttering her little wings and offering out her pacifier to him. "Want my num? It sometimes helps when I'm feeling sad."
Nea nodded and cooed soft, soothing sounds. She couldn't hear his words but she remembered something her mother and father had once done when she'd fallen and cried. They were just there to be strong for her when she could not be strong for herself. Who knew how long he'd had all this bottled up. A good cry just might be something he needed in order to start his healing process.

His tears fell quicker. It wasn't shame he felt though, but relief that he'd finally talked to someone about it. For so long it had been bottled up crushing him--strangling him from the inside out. But talking had made it better. It didn't make sense, but it seemed to have.
He smiled through his tears at Binky, "Thanks...but no thanks. I--this helps alot." He backs away slightly, "I'm sorry for...well, crying all over you."

Binky tucked away her pacifier back into the little nook she kept it in under Nea's collar, securing it with the Paci clip. "No worries.. Some times ya need to cry."
Idonea smiled warmly and shook her head. "Feel any better?" She whispered and offered another smile. "Perhaps It would do you some good to spend some time around some others.. You know, have more than the occasional passers by to talk to?" She was speaking of a herd unit. Something where there would always be an open ear and friendly side to lean against when it was needed. "Do you have anything like that? A place or a herd to turn to?"

"Not really," Aponi sniffed again and smiled at Binky. "I don't have any family anymore. Few friends, Charlotte---was my world. The promise of being okay...I've go no one." He closed his eyes and breathed in again.

Idonea thought a moment, her brow furrowing lightly as she thought. She couldn't just let him wander off in such a state. What could he get himself into? The images that surfaced in her thoughts troubled her. She couldn't just let him suffer to grieve alone.. He needed some one to help him through this for now. A safe haven to turn to when the weight of it all got to be too much. "Then come with me to the one I belong to.. I'm sure the lead mare won't shun you out, she's really sweet and kind. And even if you only stay a while.. it's gotta be better than facing it alone..." She offered a smile though her face clearly stated she wasn't about to let him wander off alone.
Binky wiggled happily before bouncing over, catching hold of Aponi's mane and scrambling ti sit on his back. "Yes, yes.. you come with us for a while.."

Aponi considered, a home and family for awhile sounded good. Really, really good. But well...Should he? But then why shouldn't he. Aponi sighed, "I'd like that. I can't...go...can't be alone again."
How did you thank someone was offering to give you back your entire life? This girl--Idonea was going to let him come with her and be a part of her herd for awhile. She cared enough, an absolute stranger to give him the hope of tomorrow. How could he say no to what could be his savior?

She chuckled eyeing his maw as it formed the words. "Alright.. Then How about you follow me. We can get headed there now, hopefully even catch Shoshana as she's making her rounds along the boarder of the herd's grounds." With that, she stepped gaining a distance from him a little before turning and waiting for him to follow, keeping an eye on him all the while on the off chance that he said something.
